Isabell Werth and Emilio with victory in today's CDI4 Grand Prix at Fritzens

Pretty well rewarded victory with nearly 80% (79,804%) for Werth with Emilio in today's Grand Prix for Grand Prix freestyle. 

Very strong trot tour, easy piaffe tours with smooth transitions, the walk becomes a bit unbalanced for the extended walk, and the collected walk a bit on the toes, good canter tour with super nice two times, while an error creeping in for the one times, good pirouettes and strong final at the centerline. During the test today some minor tensions creeping in, but nothing to disturb the exercises just a not as clear smooth picture as seen before. 

Dorothee Schneider with Fohlenhof´s Rock´n Rose are second with 71,935%. An overall good test, but still lack a bit more security for the piaffe tours, or more exact for sharper transitions and strength for the passage. 

Last placement for today's Grand Prix went to Australian Simone Pearce with Wladimir O.A. Today the trot tour was nice with nice piaffe / passage tours and good flow, unfortunately Simone is loosing some points for the canter tour with expensive errors for both series. Final score 65,826%.

The scoreboard does not always tells about the qualities

Danish Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein has her next top horse with her 11-year-old Michellino son M&M´s, but as the Michellinos just takes a bit more time to settle at the competition environment, this is also the fact for M&M´s.

Exercise wise no weaknesses, and the qualities for the most demanding exercises are there, but Nathalie is unfortunately still not able to bring 100% confidence for the big chestnut gelding into the arena. It just looks like that M&M´s needs the competition miles before he will be able to relax and focus 100% on his rider for an entire test. Tomorrow morning they will be ready for the consulation Grand Prix as last to go at 8:12.

The most beautiful backdrop for an arena must for sure be at the CDI4 event this weekend at Fritzens in Austria.

This morning the event started with an international Prix Sct. Georg won by Dorothee Schneider with her just 8 year old First Romance by Fürst Romancier / Day Dream.

The pair already secured themselves one of the attractive ticket for the prestigious Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final winning the qualifier at Mannheim with 73,659%.

Spotlight at Bella Rose and Isabell Werth

Exactly November 2014 in Stuttgart was last time we saw the amazing mare Bella Rose in the arena with Isabell Werth. Today a bit more than 3,5 year later they were back, and what a super nice comeback. 

An injury break kept the top talented mare out of the international spotlight, and over the time there has been a lot of "talking" if the mare ever would appear again. But luckily she was back today and it was really one of the highlights of the year, watching her together with Isabell Werth doing the Grand Prix test as if she just had a small "vacation".

As expected the final halt became a  with a very emotional Werth, as this special mare always been a very special partner, with qualities clearly above the level of Werth´s other horses. 

Enjoy their comeback test below, and as Werth told St. Georg in an interview after her test, Bella Rose wanted a bit to much for the first extended trot at the diagonal, and Werth had to "stop" her a bit, but she settled very nicely for the rest of the test. 

Very nice also that the judging team fully agreed about today's winner performance and had the combination at nearly the same level from all 5 judges. 

Faustus with Dorothee Schneider in the saddel took the 2nd place, and Dono di Maggio with Emile Faurie became 3rd.

Danish Young Horses selected for World Championships in Ermelo

Today was the final selection day for the Danish Warmblood Young Horses representing Denmark in Ermelo from 2nd to 5th of August.

For today´s the final selection the judges Dennis Fisker, Gunilla Nyman Faurby and Birthe Lyder Nielsen were very satisfied about the development and small changes from the first presentation until today, and today the judges also gave small advices for the combinations selected for WCYH in Ermelo.

Kira Wulferding now qualified with two horses for Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final

It became just a maginal win for today's prestigious Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final for Kira Wulferding with the 9 year old mare Bohemian Rhapsody by Belissimo M / De Niro. 

They showed a strong test without any technical issues and going from yesterdays qualifier into the start today with a win yesterday made them of course also favourites. 

Kira already qualified Brianna at Redefin for the final. 

Just 8,5 point between no 1 and no 2 today

Harmony´s Eclectisch with Susan Pape was from H2R point of view the winners of today's test, but said that, it is never easy coming from 4th place yesterday moving upwards in the ranking for the victory today.

Eclectisch is a supple mover in all 3 gaits, superb ride ability without any kind of stallion issues. Smooth test in a lovely form with nice expression all the way, strong trot tour and very strong canter tour with super nice pirouettes and series, and today's best rein back for the final centerline.

Nations Cup winner in Rotterdam on home soil became the Netherlands, closed follow by the Swedish team and with the American team as no 3. 

Today's Grand Prix Special was won by Therese Nilshagen with Dante Weltino OLD. Extra class trot / passage tours, lots of power and expression, bit on the toes for the walk tour, good piaffe tours, two times becomes a bit mixed up today with some one times, could show a bit more preparation into the pirouettes. Final score 74,149%. Move the timeline to 47:00 to watch the test. 

Again today Edward Gal showed his top experience with his still very young Glock´s Zonik. The overall picture was more polished today and Zonik seems to be more motivated today. Super nice qualities and high lights. Final score 80,075%. Move the timeline to 2:25.30 to watch the test.

Sezuan offsprings dominates today's 4 year old Young Horse championship qualifier at Billund DEN

Winner new licensed Tørveslettens Sylvester by Sezuan/Stedinger/Carano with Helgstrand Dressage rider Eric Guardia Martinez (the dam of Sylvester is Danish Warmblood Gold medal mare and former International Grand Prix mare Tørveslettens Stamina). 

Places 3rd and 4th also Sezuan offsprings.

Another victory for Gal - today with Glock´s Voice in the CDI3 Grand Prix

A solid 7,5 winning test all the way with just some minor variations for Edward Gal with Glock´s Voice.

Important comeback

For today's test it was a comeback for Swedish Don Auriello with Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven, as Don Auriello has been "on hold" since after Rio 2016 due to an injury. Lovely having him back with Tinne, as he is a real Tinne horse. He looks fit and motivated, for the halts a bit over motivated, but of course lot with the final competition sharpness. Placed 2nd with 73,174%. For Tinne this was of course a very important comeback in terms of the Swedish team for WEG. 

Super Suppenkasper back in Europe

The long legged athletic now just 10 year old Suppenkasper, former educated and ridden by German Helen Langehanenberg, changed last year ownership to American Akiko Yamazaki sponsor of Steffen Peters, as his hope for the future. The big gelding suits Peters very well and together they make a very nice picture, but said that the test today was a bit in the same direction as yesterday with Rosamunde. Peters looks as if he just wants to ask a bit too much all the way, and again today it looked very much as if there were no need for that. Super expressive start, bit unbalanced half pass to right, good halt bit tense rein back, good walk, bit tensions/disturb for the piaffe tours where Suppenkasper looks like doing his absolute best with lovely activity and sit, but the transitions and passage becomes with some tensions, nice zig-zag, nice balanced pirouettes not asking too much and with 3 one times between. From H2R point of view the overall picture from the test just lacking "less is more" to get a more clear and steady picture. 

The stallions

The not so experienced stallions Expression, Desperado, Charmeur and Duval´s Capri Sonne jr were also at start. 

Best placed was Expression with Diedrik van Silfhout in the saddle. Correct technical test, but Expression is just lacking more power and push from behind in general. Today the Dutch judge at M became very positive having them as 2nd placed. The final placement was as no 7. 

Desperado with Emmelie Scholtens did not show the same sharp piaffe / passage tours as we saw them lately at Equitour in Denmark, but still with a nice quality test which still miss more experience. 

Charmeur with Madeleine Witte-Vrees was for sure motivated for the job, still lacking more control and experience, but showing ability and power for piaffe/passage and with nice series.

For Laura Tomlinson with Capri Sonne today's challenge seems a bit different, as Capri from the very beginning of the test seems to be a bit behind her aides, as you can see from the entering halt that Laura really has to ask him to go forward. The piaffe tours becomes like small steps over 4 meters and lacking both activity and correct balance, the collected walk is also unbalanced, both series with errors, and for the 1 times you get the feeling that Capri might want to stop in the middle not being in front of the aides of Laura. No easy task today.

Edward Gal and Glock´s Zonik becomes sharper and sharper together in the arena, and today's result with nearly 77% shows that they are at the moment the top combination for the Netherlands towards WEG in Tryon later this year. 

The trot tour is shown smooth and well balanced with good expression, nice half passes, bit open halt and a small tension for the rein back, good first piaffe with nice passage and good transitions where Edward is able to keep Zonik nicely on the spot, super nice walk tour with good stretching and relaxation for the extended walk, for the first change in the 2 times the change becomes with parallel hindlegs, rest of the canter tour is with good qualities, the centerline with the pirouettes is good and pirouettes itself are nice with good sit, but the picture becomes a bit "stallion like" as Zonik does not 100% stay in front of the aides. 

Dante Weltino OLD and Therese Nilshagen has shown great consistency and form from both Equitour Aalborg and now in Rotterdam. Therese really knows Dante and can push all the buttons, today's walk tour becomes a bit tense, lovely 2 times and good qualities for both pirouettes, but unfortunately the final canter step for the 2nd pirouettes becomes a bit sideway, super nice final centerline with a top final square halt. 76,152%

Patrik Kittel and the 11 year old Well Done de la Roche just steps up their performances every time. Final score 75,804% and this is a combination where you still have the feeling of much more to reach. The extreme lightfooted mare becomes a bit tense during the test, but Kittel manage to keep her focused all the way. For the extended trot tours they still lack a more relaxation and let go power, and for sure with more points, like today's walk tour becomes a bit on the toes. Light and easy half passes with lovely balance, nice halt but a bit hind the riders hand for the rein back, super easy and very regular and expressive passage tours, nice transitions and lovely piaffe, very well performed canter tour with super nice qualities. 

Placed 4th today was Emmelie Scholtens with KWPN stallion Apache. Even though Apache seems a bit focused about the warm arena when entering the ring, Emmelie is able to keep him focused on the job. They showed a sharp trot tour, a small disturb into the 1st piaffe, good walk tour, and a strong canter tour with very nice timing all the way. 

American Steffen Peters and his 11 year old mare Rosamunde enters the arena as winners of the trot tour, super power for the trot, expressive crossing top balanced half passes, rein back becomes a bit sideway, the passage looks big but the picture is a bit like Rosamunde is pulling up her front legs very much without pushing clear over the back, lovely angle for the piaffe which becomes a bit over active and with some minor tensions for the transitions. Good canter tour, but swinging and tense 1 times, super nice sit for the pirouettes but the second pirouette lacking more correctness, nice final centerline. (From H2R point of view and judge at B: Mariette Sanders-van Gansewinkel (NED) the level was at 71%). Total score 74.130%. 

Must say that the Dutch judge at B also was spot on with next placed combination American Salvino and Adrienne Lyle having them at 70,5% level. Their final score became somewhat over heated with 73,9%!

Modern technology makes it possible to test for more diseases, and recently the focus has been on the very rare genetic disorder, Warmblood Fragile Foal Syndrome - also known as WFFS.

Because we find that our breeders want knowledge about whether our stallions are carrying the WFFS, we have already got our stallions in Denmark tested and now also our stallions at Helgstrand Germany in Hagen have been tested with the following results.

There are already breeds like Friesian and Quarter horses, where genetic disorders have been registered and therefore it is not unusual that a genetic disorder now has been found in Warmbloods. Therefore, horses with the WFFS gene should not be considered ill, but as owner you just have to focus on not to combine two horses in the breed, both carrying the gene. 

It is all about keeping the best horses in the breed and that is why we just recommend mare-owners to test their mares for the WFFS gene, and if the mare is a carrier, we recommend not to use a stallion which is also a carrier.
