The 6 yr old Fürstenball / Rosario gelding was presented by Helgstrand Dressage rider Simone Pearce. Relaxed, expressive with super quality. Nice flow and well balanced with lovely lightness in the forehand. And walk after the book with the biggest points = well deserved clear 10! Active canter with good power and not least well nice big changes. 9,02 and just pushed her colleague Severo with Quel Filou down to 2nd place. (video below)

German Lordwood Dancing Diamond and Anne-Kathrin Pohlmeier delived an error free and easy looking test. Dancing Diamond is a horse which takes every step easy with lightness of the ground by all 3 gaits. Same score as Severo and Quel Filou - 8.98.

New direct into the final with her 2nd horse was Danish Carina Cassøe Krüth with Danish Warmblood silver medal mare Heiline´s Danciera. Active balanced trot tour, good walk and good canter with good quality changes brings the combination into 7th place. Today´s top score by submission with 9,0. Great achivement for the Danish rider bringing two horses for Ermelo, and both qualified direct for the final.

Missing at the list of direct into the final is Danish Ellegaardens San Droneur with Jacob Nørby Sørensen - hopefully they will get their well deserved ticket at tomorrow semi finals.

Direct into the final:

Impressions from 2nd part of 5 yr old preliminary test

The expectation were pretty high, especially if today´s 2nd part of the 5 yr old could be at same level as the top of the 1st part.

Danish imprint

Danish Warmblood stallion Hesselhøj Donkey Boy and Jan Møller Christensen, showed a smooth and easy test, without any tensions. Light footed trot, supple walk through the body with huge over track, huge canter with super jump of the ground and great ability to extend and collect. Today´s top score with 9,64.

The two other Danes today were Selina Solberg Vittinghus with Atterupgaards Botticelli and Kenneth Damgaard with Stenagers Wyatt Earp.

Botticelli looked stunning together with Selina for the trot tour, but you could immediately see that the beautiful stallion was bringing some tensions, because when they started their walk tour he was on his toes, and unfortunately this affected the entire canter tour with a lot of tensions. They will go for their 2nd chance through the semi final tomorrow.

Danish Kenneth Damgaard and Wyatt Earp showed a really nice test with good flow and nice form. Today the walk became a bit limited. They are also ready for the semi final tomorrow.

Ones again Severo Jurado Lopez shows his experience

Today´s test with the stallion D´avie did not start quite as planed. At the entering halt D´avie think he better leave the arena and spins around, but Severo just tells him to stay, and from there Severo just show the way, and not least his huge experience as a rider. D´avie also gets big eyes at E, but ones again Severo is the guide. Might look easy, but for sure D´avie cannot benefit alone with his qualities from the great scoring of 9.14. The "pilot" in the saddle did the job!

Top presentation from Germans Dorothee Schneider and Stefanie Wolf

Both German ladies showed lovely tests with expression, relaxation and quality and placed as no 6 and no 7. But seen from the sideline they will not be able to further up in the final.

Direct ready for the final:

Danish Warmblood stallion Hesselhøj Donkey Boy was shining together with Jan Møller Christensen today

Nice being Danish in Ermelo, and even from the distance the qualities from the combinations shines.

Today´s absolute high-light by the 2nd part of the 5 yr old preliminary test was Danish Warmblood gold medal stallion Hesselhøj Donkey Boy by ERA Dancing Hit / Milan, bred by Dorthe and Hans Jørgen Hoeck, owned by Kristin Andresen and ridden by Jan Møller Christensen.

Not that easy going into the arena with the high scores from yesterday´s top combinations in mind, but for sure the plan from experienced rider Jan Møller Christensen and his team was already made before going to Ermelo.

H2R caught Jan for a small comment about the last preparations for Ermelo.

"I strive to ride as I usually ride the last few days before leaving, and is of course aware not to push him to much. Fortunately, Donkey Boy does not need much work, he is very easy to ride. He does not usually look at the surroundings (touch wood), but obviously he is stallion and he keeps an eye on what's happening around him.

I think it's a fantastic horse, and my expectations are initially to show him as good as possible, and then we'll see how far that wil bring us", Jan Møller Christensen told.

TROT 9.7 - WALK 9.8 - CANTER 9.5 - SUBMISSION 9.5 - PERSPECTIVE 9.7 = 9,64 made them direct into an overall 2nd position.

From H2R point of view they look like a gold medal for Sunday´s final.

Danish Kristine Møller (LUX) with Standing O´vation won 7 yr old semi final

News from Ermelo YH

The 15 participants in the final of the Longines FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses are rounded up! Besides the 12 combinations that directly qualified themselves yesterday, today’s top 3 also earned a starting ticket. Number 1 Kristine Moller and the Trakehner mare Standing O’vation (Imperio 3 x Consul) with 77.203%. Thus an invite to the final for the rider from Luxembourg. “This is so unexpected! Standing Ovation and I have never ridden a 3-day competition at this level. Yesterday it was windy weather and she got tense. She is quite a sensitive horse. As a matter of fact, I have not trained on the figures these last days, only focused on relaxation. Today she was sharp, but in the good way. In the beginning of the test I made a small mistake and that is when I thought: it is now or never, this is our last chance! So I went all out, we did all we could and clearly it worked!”

Also the Dutch riders Lynne Maas and Mara de Vries placed themselves in the final after a good performance with their KWPN-horses Fantastique (Vivaldi x Florencio II) (77.103% and Farzana G (Ampere x Florencio II) (76.577%). Lynne: “I am thrilled, Fantastique certainly deserves a spot in the final. On to Sunday!” President of the jury Maria Colliander agrees and was very satisfied with today: “I am very happy with the three horses that we added to the final today. The top 3 today truly deserves to be in the final, they were all lovely horses that are really well-presented.”

Not so much to say - just:

And have a look at their test here.

Both Patrik van der Meer with President´s First Apple and Kirsten Brouwer with both Sultan des Paluds and Ferdeaux looks very sharp for the next spots.

But said that, they have to be aware of the German combination Senta Kirchhoff with L`Arbuste (Danish bred by Stud Firfod) by Skovens Rafael / Zardin Firfod, and the Danish combination Anne Troensegaard with Kipling - both with top horses, with small tensions for some exercises today. If they are settled down for the final the ladies and their horses with for sure go for a spot at the podium (no secret, but Danish Anne Troensegaard has already proclaimed that she will go for a Danish 2020 Olympic team spor with Kipling).

Danish Warmblood stallion Blue Hors Zee Me Blue and Daniel Bachmann Andersen had a few smaller issues today, with a lack of beat for the first diagonal, and lost balance in the first pirouette which both became a bit expensive. Placed no 8.

Andreas Helgstrand and Springbank VH, representing Sweden had some lovely moments but it was clear that Springbank did not really settle in the huge arena today. Placed no 11.

She came last - but last with the attractive direct ticket for the final

The truth about young Danish combination Louise Lind and Jubi´s Tenacity is that they actually came out of the blue for the World Championships.

Louise Lind and Jubi´s Tenacity - photo credit: Timo Martis

After making a great debut at national S-level a friend of Louise asked her to sign in for the Danish selection, and there she went, with her sisters horse, as she was ment to ride Tenacity just when her sister was studying abroad.

Went to the first selection and went on for the final selection and got nominated for World Championships.

Now in Ermelo, and as humble as she is, she just told (at an interview at Hestemagasinet) about her experience being at Ermelo and just wishing she would not end up last. She got last, but last with the final ticket direct into the finals for the 7 yr old horses - what an achivement, for the young Danish amateur lady studying Law at the university in Denmark, beside riding her sisters horse.

Fiontini right on track to hattrick
Two-fold World Breeding Dressage Champion Young Horses Fiontini is right on track to win the title once again and score – just as Sezuan did last year – perform a hattrick. The extremely talented daughter of Fassbinder out of a dam by Romanov impressed the jury with a fantastic performance. In an impeccable test the Danish Warmblood-mare scored under the Spanish rider Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez the following grades: 9.5 for the trot and canter, a 9 for the walk, a 9.3 for the submission and a 9.8 for perspective brought the total to an average of 94.200%. the 82.578% for the technique set the final score to 88.389, which meant the victory in the qualification round.

1st part of preliminary 6 yr old test with Severo Jurado Lopez and Quel Filou in top

What a power horse, the medium sized Quel Filou OLD by Quaterback / Stedinger under Spanish Severo Jurado Lopez.

Lovely full power controlled and not tense looking test all the way. Lot´s of expression combined with super balance for the entire trot tour, superb walk (today for 9,2, but looked like his 10 from last year) - and then today´s absolute best changes, non of the competitors were near! Score 8,98.

Danish Warmblood

2nd and very close was Danish Carina Cassøe Krüth with Danish Warmblood Red Diamant by Romanov / Dream of Heidelberg. Kind of big eyes which Carina managed to use as positive power for the test. Super frame, lightness of the ground, well balanced shoulder in/volte/hp, good walk, easy uncomplicated changes. The canter tour could have been a with a bit more let go, but for sure Carina knew how much she could ask for. Score 8,88.

Also Danish Anne Marie Hosbond with Straight Horse Don Tamino showed a top test. The Totilas / Don Schufro stallion looks like a real buddy when they are together in the arena. No issues, just obedient and wants to work for his rider all the way. Easy trot tour, super walk tour and canter with good power. Score 8,62.

Ellegaardens San Droneur and Jacob Nørby Sørensen showed a very nice and active test. San Droneur goes all the way in super nice uphill frame with a super expression. Good walk with nice relaxation and good canter, but with a small tension before transition to canter and also small tension for 2nd change. 8,32.

Nice overall judging except of one

But from just one combination the scoring seems to be a bit overheated, Nymphenburg's First Ampere and Tessa Frank, showed a good test, but overall First Ampere is now as a 6 yr old lack more ability to show clear collection and in general his hindlegs need to be more active under his body, not just pushing forward. And for both changes they were not settled and becomes on the forehand - not 8,86 seem from "the side line" today.

World Championships Young Horses started with 1st part of 5 yr old preliminary test today

Exciting 1st part of the 5 yr old preliminary class today

All horses seems to have settled well down before going into the huge arena. Just a few tensions from some of the horses.

The day started with nice sunshine, but unfortunately it started to rain quite heavily after the first couple of combinations.

Don Martillo and Ann-Christin Wienkamp - photo credit: Timo Martis

Winner of the first part today became HANN stallion Don Martillo by Don Juan de Hus / Benetton Dream with German Ann-Christin Wienkamp. Total score of 9,76. The judges gave them 10 for the trot and 10 for the walk. Supple and obedient test, nice lightness in the forehand, although you might wish for a bit more push from the hind legs in both trot and canter. Superb walk - well deserved 10! Nice frame all the way and very nice balance too.

Ferrari and Andreas Helgstrand - photo credit: Timo Martis

Ferrari and Andreas Helgstrand - photo credit: Timo Martis

2nd became Danish Andreas Helgstrand with Ferrari by Foundation / Hotline, participating for Germany. Impressive mover the big stallion, which seems to suit Helgstrand very well. Lot of suppleness through the body, lovely balance for the turns in the trot work, still stepping forward and upwards. Good walk, could be a bit more over the back, but looks easy to manage. Superb uphill canter with lots of potential both when going forwards and collecting. 9,42.

Casablanca and Simone Pearce - photo credit: Timo Martis

Casablanca and Simone Pearce - photo credit: Timo Martis

3rd Australian Simone Pearce (Helgstrand Dressage) showing the bigframed mare Casablanca. Casablanca enters the arena with a bit big eyes, but Simone really manage well. Lots of expression and power for the entire trot tour = 10 for the trot from the judges. Bit tense for halt and rein back, good walk, and good canter although Casabalanca looks a tense in the topline.

First to go was Sascha Schultz (LUX) with Quizmaster. Nice active rhythm for the trot tour, easy picture, nice frame and good contact. Could show a bit more push from behind for the trot tour. Nice supple walk with good quality of the walk itself. Nice supple canter with good potential and nice transition from canter to walk and into canter again. Overall very nice and uncomplicated picture. They were placed 4th with 8,6.

Daria convincing Hannoveraner Champion mare at Herwart v. d. Decken-Show

The winner mare stood out

Catalog no 39 Daria by Don Nobless / Rubin-Royal / Sandro Hit, bred and owned by Henrik Brinkmann stood out from all the other mares for today´s Herward v. d. Decken-Show in Verden.

Beautiful model, feminin and lovely uphill with a lot of expression and power. And also for the final round she still showed her natural power. Well deserved Champion title and now we can just look forward seeing her under saddle. A mare with lots of format.

Reserve champion became no 67 by San Amour / Weltregent H. A typical San Amour light footed mare, lovely type, but lacking a bit power for the final.

No 27 which was at the first part and named 1a by Damon Hill  / Feiner Ludewig was a very expressive and super well moving mare, and certainly also look like an interesting horse for the future.

73,829% victory and Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final ticket for Matthias Bouten and Quantum Vis MW (video)

At Dressurfestival Wintermühle, Neu-Anspach Matthias Bouten and 8 yr old stallion Quantum by Quaterback / Gloster secured themselves one of the very attractive tickets for the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final.

2nd was Sanneke Rothenberger with her new horse Foreign Affair - 7 yr old by Rock Forever / Scandic, as family Rothenberger recently purchased from Patrik Kittel, where Malin Nilsson already qualified Foreign Affair for the final with victory at Hagen with impressive 74,976%.

Yesterday´s ride from Sanneke was just with two not so settled canter pirouettes, the rest of the test was very balanced and expressive - a victory worthy seen from the "side line". Score 73,341%
