Girl power in top of the 6 yr old preliminary test today at Blue Hors (video of winner test)

Skærmbillede 2017-10-14 kl. 15.36.48.png

Helgstrand Dressage rider Anne Marie Hosbond showed a lovely effortless and easy winner test with Fräulein Hansemann by Floriscount today. Nice form and flow all the way - very harmonious picture.

And 2nd also Helstrand Dressage rider Betina Jæger Jensen with the mare Flora. Super sharp hindlegs, which for some moments gives a bit a tensions in the hand of the rider. Well prepared and well performed flying changes. From judges point of view they would like to see more push from behind in the trot, but this is just not possible (from H2R point of view).

Carina Cassøe Krüth showing both her mares which were part of Danish Warmblood at World Championships in Ermelo this summer. Both girls with more power and strength, very concentrated about the job. Presented in a nice closed frame, well balanced with power.

Allan Grøn and Blue Hors Farrell showed a good test, but Allan unfortunately discoved his canter tour actually was ment to stop at the letter in the corner a bit too late, and not at the centerline towards the final halt. Allan is also ready for the final with the powerful stallion St. Schufro. This stallion shows much more than asked for in the 6 yr old test, so it became a test with a bit too much of everything, but still a very special and exciting stallion for the future.

Gucci-Sinclair shown by Line Høst Johansen - lovely supple test with good flow and nice overall picture with nice riding.

Bettina Laisbo showing her Kut´n Move in a very correct test with 3 clear gaits, and really get the feeling that the horse is correct in front of her aides. The overall picture is lacking a bit more freedom from the shoulders.

Top 15 ready for the final tomorrow - see the results here.

Preliminary 5 yr old test at Danish Young Horse Championships - 15 finalist ready (videos of no 2 and 3)

Hesselhøj Donkey Boy and Jan Møller Christensen winner of today´s preliminary 5 yr old test with 9,72.

Hesselhøj Donkey Boy and Jan Møller Christensen winner of today´s preliminary 5 yr old test with 9,72.

15 best combinations ready for Sunday´s final

Bronze combination from World Championships in Ermelo Danish Warmblood gold medal stallion Hesselhøj Donkey Boy and Jan Møller Christensen proved ones again their strength at the competition arena. Lovely well balanced test. Easy steady uphill frame with a constant clear contact, only two small things were a bit tense rein back and a bit resist before transitition to canter. Scoring: Trot 9,5 - Walk 9,7 - Canter 9,8 - Submission 9,8 - Potential 9,8 = total 9,72.

2nd and 3rd today was Severo Jurado Lopez

Atterupgaards Botticelli is new a Helgstrands stables, as Helgstrand recently purchased half of this talented stallion, and therefore also a very new ride for Severo. They seem to fit eachother very well and the experienced Severo is showing Botticelli in a great way. Light contact in a good frame for the trot tour, supple walk, canter still needs to settle more, as the quality of the canter it self is very good but still showing some tensions over the back, but Severo manage to adjust the things along the way, and Botticelli is also very focused all the way.

Seen from the "sideline" the difference of the scoring for walk and canter was just 0,2, as the walk is still much better than the canter, while the walk is both active and relaxed at the same time. The clear 10 for the submission/rideability seems a bit with different angles, as the judges said 8,5 for the canter because of small issues for transition, and the after rewarding the 10 because of very nice transitions.

Skærmbillede 2017-10-14 kl. 11.40.40.png

Placed as no 3 was also Severo, this time with the stallion D´avie. Superb frame, steady supple contact always balanced. The only thing rigth now is that D´avie still lack a bit more strength to be able to push more off the ground for the extensions.

Eventhough Andreas Helgstrand did not show World Championship form together with the big stallion Ferrari, they still showed great qualities and ended up as no 4 sharp followed by his wife Marianne Helgstrand with the expressive Vamos Amigos. Unfortunately Vamos showed some tensions for the trot tour, as the judges apparently didn´t see. No doubt this is a horse for the future but the actually performance is the one the judges has to mark. From H2R point of view it was a clear 8,5 total result, but as the walk was today´s most relaxed and correct gait the marking should have been lower for the trot, higher for the walk and higher for the potential, in order to show a more correct picture of the points from the performance.

And horses for the future

Placed 6th was another Helgstrand Dressage rider, Eric Guardia Martinez with the expressive and very well moving stallion Francis by Feedback. Active supple mover, positive attitude with 3 super gaits also makes this horse very interesting for the future.

Nice to see Højgaardens Santos again with Helgstrand Dressage rider Kenneth Damgaard. Lovely light uphill 100% steady contact. Since World Championship in Ermelo Santos has gained more strength.

Zippo M.I. by Zack / Schufro from CVL Horses with Michala Damm-Frydenberg in the saddle looks like a power horse for the future. Super expression, today a bit of a handful for Michala but she manage very well without any issues.

Rikke Dupont showed her elegant lightfooted mare Chloé by Zack / Don Gregory in a super way. Super active off the ground - also a horse for the future.

Not top placed

No doubt team Helgstrand is very well prepared for the championships showing high quality horses, which makes the task even harder for the rest of the field.

Blue Hors rider Allan Grøn struggled a bit from tensions with his stallions, and of course their daily invironment is also totally changed with this championship setup at the arena.

Jan Christensen was showing the big Vivaldi son Vichy Pax in a great and effortless test, and still the judges don´t see the walk as something really good, just maked with 8,0.

Tennessee Tex by Temptation / His Highness with Belinda Elmholt Jeppesen shows a good test with nice flow and good balance, like Cabrina Zillo Geip with Vestervangs Garson by De Noir / Regazzo showing lovely flow and balance just lacking a bit more elasticity from the rider. Hevringholms Delaya by ERA Dancing Hit / Hertug with Maria Bjerg Latrache shows a lovely horse, but looks a bit like the mare needed a bit more rider support to get well balanced all the way.

See the entire results from today´s 5 yr old class here.

Final day at NRW stallion selection with an outstanding not so big Vitalis son

Skærmbillede 2017-10-13 kl. 22.30.00.png

Top stallion co-owned by Helen Langehanenberg

With no 263 the chestnut Vitalis / Johnson / Houston son with just 163 cm stood out. Wow what a boy - copy of this famous sire, with suoer walk, even sharper hindlegs, and like daddy with nice clever attitude - no need to show off. This boy just have the x-factor. He is co-owned by Helen Langehanenberg and Wilhelm Werning. He was of course selected for the licensing.

261 also by Vivaldi / Dancier showed qualities for the future.

240 by Rock for Me / De Niro / Rubinstein presented from Lodbergen also stood out. Lovely attitude, lots of suppleness and fantastic stallion expression.

125 by Benicio / Dancier / Weltmeyer, super modern, longlegged, lightfooted with quality.

Notes from H2R after following NRW stallion selection pretty close

Quantensprung offsprings does not bring any extra, most of them gelding like from expression and normal movements.

Grey Flanell offspring often lack both expression and strength of the topline.

Goldberg offspring brings lovely types, long neck, good gaits but nothing special, and often a bit too much "stargazer" and not really using their back when moving.

Highlights

Franklin offsprings are beautiful modern, showing power supple movements.

Millennium offsprings are all with lovely round active hindlegs, long neck, lots of expression and not least with suppleness.

Vitalis is a stallion every breeder must have a mare for - just saying.

Top boys for the licensing

H2R dare to make a list of top stallions for the upcoming NRW licensing. The stallions for this list are:

Helle Krasnik Trolle ny holdleder i dressur

Updated list from day 2 at NRW stallion selection (with H2R comments)

Danish Warmblood success at today´s stallion selection at Münster-Handorf

Danish Warmblood success at today´s stallion selection at Münster-Handorf

Day 2 at NRW stallion selection became with a lot more highlights than day 1.

Best Escolar son was no 160 with St. Moritz as damsire. This young stallion is really what your searching for when looking for a top horse. Like both Franklin sons presented by Helgstrand Dressage, superb modern type, lot of power of the ground and suppleness - the best one with Rubin-Royal as damsire from H2R point of view. No 192 by Follow Me / Sir Donnerhall I / Florencio I and no 196 by For Romance I / Fürst Nymphenburg / Samrant both brought some extra too. No 173 by Feedback / Stoiber / Levantos was just selected as a reserve. From H2R point of view a clear selection for the licensing.

Danish breeder successes today as no 149 by Blue Hors Don Olymbrio / Don Romantic / Milan is bred by Pernille Hering, and selected for the licensing as reserve, no 167 by Blue Hors Farrell / Blue Hors Zack / Michellino bred by Stutteri Eg v/Jan Bonde & P. E. Fugmann and owned by Stud Blue Hors, and no 185 by Blue Hors First Choice / Fürst Heinrich / Sir Schölling bred by Ruth Knudsen and owned by Stud Blue Hors selected for the licensing.

From H2R point of view no 164 by Fahrenheit / Don Frederico / Brentano II deserved a clear spot for the licensing - still don´t get why such a supple expressive boy was not selected.

Olympisk Scholarship til Cathrine Dufour

Cathrine Dufour og Atterupgaards Cassidy til DM 2017 - foto: H2R

Cathrine Dufour og Atterupgaards Cassidy til DM 2017 - foto: H2R

Nyhed på DRF i dag

DIF uddeler halvanden million kroner i olympiske scholarships.

  • Maja Buskbjerg Jager, bueskydning
  • Amalie Dideriksen, banecykling
  • Stine Nielsen, skydning
  • Cathrine Dufour, dressur
  • Fie Udby, roning
  • Lin Ea Cenholt Christensen, sejlads
  • Viktor Bromer, svømning
  • Andreas Schilling Andersen, triatlon

NRW selection for stallion licensing has started today

From watching today´s candidates for the NRW licensing, there were very few stallions among.

No 117 by Ampere - Florestan brought clearly the best stallion expression and most supple gaits. Superb canter, but hindlegs for the trot could have showed a bit more push from under body.

No 119 by Apache - Sir Sinclair. Modern type with expressive trot and a bit limited for the canter.

No 127 by Bernay - Harvard. Lovely type, lack bit power for the movements and carriage head and neck at bit flat.

No 131 by Damon Hill - Dimension. Nice expression and supple mover, but just 162 cm.

Unfortunately NRW does not show the young stallions by lunging before final selection is done.

Tomorrow at 8.30 start day 2.

Danish international top rider Daniel Bachmann Andersen got "a tip" when checking out the news at H2R recently about the collection at Campenauktioner.dk.

Like H2R and many other, Daniel Bachmann Andersen also got very excited when watching the 1 year old colt by Millenium / De Niro which was adverticed at Campenauktioner.

When the online auction finish tonight at 19.00, there was still a lot of activities about this colt, but last bit went to Daniel Bachmann Andersen for dkr. 79.000 (about 10.600 euros).

Daniel went before the auction to see the colt by the breeder Jens Kvist, Gram DK. Jens Kvist is breeder of among others former Danish Warmblood Olympic horse Clearwater with Anne van Olst.

And as Daniel just told H2R the colt really looked like the video presentation when watching him in the field, so he was of course very excited to get the last bit for another very good horse at Campen Auction, as Daniel earlier purchase a really one nice gelding by Blue Hors Zatchmo, which is just broken in and showing super nice qualities under the rider tells Daniel.

And as Daniel also tells he feels quite confident about buying youngsters, while he does not feel he has the top sharp eyes for the foals. (Also very interesting to compare the videos as a foal, and now as a colt).

Tomorrow afternoon starts NRW dressage stallion selections (live stream)

Skærmbillede 2017-10-10 kl. 18.49.38.png

When you want to follow the entire stallion selection without being present at Münster-Handorf, you have a great possibility for the NRW stallion selection, while Clipmyhorse will provide the entire program.

The program for the stallions is first to show the stallion free and with free jumping, after about 8 stallions the stallions will be presented in walk by hand, and then selected for presentation at hard surface. After presentation at hard surface the stallions will be presented at walk ring and the stallions selected for the licensing will be appointed.

Young horses for the Danish finals

Lots of top young horses will participate at the finals. Among them triple World Champion for Young Horses Danish Warmblood mare Fiontini with Severo Jurado Lopez. The updated lists of participants are online here with their scoring from the qualifikations.

This weekends Swedish Breeders Trophy also included British judge Isobel Wessels. When she was doing the comments for the public, she was explaning both the positive things and the not so positive things about the horse, and made the whole championships even more interesting to follow.

Unfortunately the Danish national federation has chosen not to add any foreign judges to be part of the judging teams for the finals. The Danish judges for the finals are:

  • Friday 7 yr old preliminary test - Kirsten Søgaard (judge) and Ole Hummelshøj (pro rider)
  • Friday 4 yr old preliminary round - Niels Erik Bøckmann (judge) and Dennis Holst (pro rider) (Anne Mette Binder announcer for the riders)

  • Saturday 5 yr old preliminary test - Lene Ejby Christiansen (judge) and Dorthe Rohmann (pro rider)
  • Saturday 6 yr old preliminary test - Kirsten Søgaard (judge) and Allan Hansen (pro rider)

  • Sunday - all finals - Susanne Baarup Christensen, Kurt Christensen (judges), Dennis Fisker (pro rider).

For all preliminary rounds and finals Bjarne Nielsen will be part of the judging teams as a representative for Danish Warmblood.

Live stream Saturday and Sunday

Both Saturday and Sundays classes will be avilable via live stream at Zibrasport for just 11 euro for both days.

All links including links for start lists, results and live stream will be available at H2R calendar.

Notes from H2R

2017 finals are with a new concept for the Danish Young Horse Championships. This year there is no 2nd round before the finals. Right now this part seems to be missing, especially when watching back from the 1st rounds where there has not been at least one judge from each team to judge all qualifications.

And the 2nd qualifier was actually also a part where you still could give your young horse even more experience and a possible ticket for the final, even though not having qualities for the podium.

And going to the final without having the possibility to qualify through a small final is not really the best way for a final. Often you see young horses with high tensions for the 1st round, getting much more settled via the small final being able to show their best, and getting another chance to qualify for the final.

Last and not least the Danish riders, breeders, owners and audience would all benefit from having foreign international eyes for the finals for their top youngsters.

Springbank II VH an extraordinary young stallion (video from Breeders Trophy)

It is always nice with top scoring, but how does it actually looks like when the young 3 year old stallion Springbank II VH, by Skovens Rafael / De Niro scored 97,20 points at Swedish Breeders Trophy.

Springbank II VH is bred by Västra Hoby Stuteri AB, and owned by Västra Hoby Stuteri AB, Tina Hennix and Helgstrand Dressage.

The individual scoring:

Trot 9,8 - Walk 9,3 - Canter 9,5 - Suppleness 10,0 - General impression 10,0 = Total 97,20

Charlotte Dujardin during her test riding for Danish Warmblood in 2015. Photo credit: H2R

Today it was with 11 four year old young horses for the testing by Charlotte Dujardin at Breeders Trophy in Sweden.

Not a single seat was left in the packed arena, and the audience got another "lesson" in what one of the Worlds absolute best riders is asking for and wants to feel, when she is in the saddle of a young horse.

H2R followed the entire testing, and below you can catch up with at bit of all the running comments from Charlotte Dujardin during her test riding.

When Charlotte got into the saddle of the first horse she told the audience that she was happy to be back, and a few seconds later her horse got a bit tense, with her saying from the saddle "don´t buck me off in front of the audience."

Charlotte told that you learn a lot from riding the young horses and that it really inspires her in the every day.

And before started testing she told the audience: "I always getting trouble for being over time."

First horse was Affect by Florencio / Sandro Hit. Some comments from Charlotte: "This horse has better balance from the canter work, but at the end the feeling for the trot work got more balanced. A horse like this which is more balanced and comfortable I always starts with the canter work when warmed up. Lovely temperament." Scores: 8,5 rideability - 8,5 potential.

Zitat by Zalandin MI / Don Romantic. Comments from Charlotte: "Lovely feeling, natural uphill frame. Could be more even on both sides. It´s not always what you see, but I can feel it. As a young horse Valegro was a horse with a very strong mouth. This one I could just ride all day - it´s fabulous. Pretty damn good for a 4 yr old. He is a true gentleman, he feels more like a 5 or 6 yr old." Scores: 9,0 rideability - 9,0 potential. Very exciting horse for the future.

Bergsjöholms Valbonne by Zack / Epson. Comments from Charlotte: "Stallions will be my least to chose - when training stallions they argue back, they often have their mind on other jobs. With this horse the neck is more forward/straight, not so uphill. Trot bit quick not so much natural cadance as the first two horses. He is not as developed in the canter as in the trot. He feels greener. Remember to work on your walk, it´s double score." Scores: 8,0 rideability - 8,0 pontential.

Amsor THE by Ampere / Kaliber. Comments from Charlotte: "Bit more my size. Very loose feeling in the trot, he gets stronger in my hand when I ask for more. If the horse making a mistake just tell them how it must be and never punish. They have to learn to work willingly. If your gonna use your leg to go forward - let go, like with a car you can´t use the accelerator together with the breake - then it will stall like a horse. Very important to learn the young horses to go by themselves, they have the whole life to learn to collect". Scores: 7,8 rideability - potential 8,0.

Darin by Dalwhinnie / Schwardroneur. Comments from Charlotte: "A little bit chewy in the contact, very sensitive. Not quite even in the contact. Getting more settled, rhythm feels better and the contact feels better. Lovely feeling in the canter, shoulders needs to be more up and open, but it´s about balance and strength. It´s about how much money you put in your training. It´s about having a good trainingsystem, and not how much money you spent on the horse. I train every horse with the goal of Grand Prix." Scores: rideability 8,3 - potential 8,5. (Note from H2R much improved during the testing).

Conde Nord by Charmeur / Hohenstein. Comments from Charlotte: "Lovely shape, ones I get his concentration. Typical a man, he can´t do two things at the same time. Do I have an extra leg? Even when having an extra leg he feels very comfortable. The feeling is that he could easy do a flying change. Great ability to shorten the canter. Tension comes into the contact. He has got his mind on other things today." Scores: rideability 8,5 - potential 9,0.

Zinnia by Zack / Damino. Comments from Charlotte: "It feels like a big trot, feels like she pushes my out of the saddle. Feels a bit weak bodywise, she can´t quite manage. When she got off the wall she feels a bit wobbly. Gives an athlethic feeling in canter. Greenest one of the horses, really off the floor, she is carrying her own head and neck.  Give the horse an option to learn from your advices, and keep it black and white (easy questions for the horse). Nice attitude." Scores: rideability 8,5 - pontential 9,0.

Athena by Temptation / Master. Comments from Charlotte: "Bit of rolling feeling, easy trot but not pushing you out of the saddle. Positive to the contact, not strong. Self motivated, good for the legs. Interesting to feel after you´ve cantered how the trot feels better afterwards. She could work a bit more through her body. She is able to lengthen the trot without running, but nice pushing. She takes the contact correct down and forward for the walk." Scores: rideability 8,5 - potential 8,8.

Swedish Diamond by San Amour / Corland. Comments from Charlotte: "I like this one, he has a mature body. Lovely uphill frame. Very easy and smooth for a 4 yr old. Like I´m on an advanced horse. The first one have tryed to sit on in the trot, nothing changes. Bit tense in canter, bit stiff in the neck, need bit more relaxation and drop the neck - he feel like a 4 yr old for the canter work. Even when he is streching he still moves in the same rhythmn and balance. Definitely one more to go to England." Scores: rideability 9,0 - potential 9,5.

Shizeido GJ by Sezuan / Danzas. Comments from Charlotte: "Nice light, good mouth. Good trot but not like the horse before. Lovely in his body. Little slower reaction for my legs. Powerful feeling in the canter. The rider did a good job. Very workable horse. Very even, supple in both sides. Lovely to ride. He does everything with relaxation." Scores: rideability 9,3 - potential 9,5.

Skywalker by Zuidenwind / Bernstein. Comments from Charlotte: "Lovely trot, very balanced. He makes me want to ask him for more. He feels super easy. Everything is done in a relaxed way. Lovely reaction from my legs. Try to push him a little out of his comfort zone. Lovely horse to ride, engine in the right place, lovely trot to work with, rocking canter, transitions are so good. Smaller horses are easier to keep in the balance than the bigger horses." Scores: rideability 9,5 - potential 9,5.

Sitting at the last horse Charlotte praised the horses for their good rideability and being well prepared from their riders.

A great evening to follow. The entire testing is available via the archive at Clipmyhorse.

Matiné did spectacular passage, Batuta does spectacular passage - have a look at MSJ Freestyle (videoclip)

A new girl with not just passage - it´s incredible passage

In a line of just top wins Charlotte Dujardin and MSJ Freestyle (born 2009) by Fidermark/Donnerhall, owned by Mount St. John, also won Dressage Future Elite Championship at Horse of the Year Show at Intermediaire I freestyle the other day.

Quote from Charlotte: “She is just like Valegro. She takes everything in her stride, she is not fazed, she doesn’t stress, she doesn’t get at all worried about any situation no matter how much pressure you put on her. You can keep asking her questions, and she keeps answering them and keeps trying.” - Source: hoys.co.uk

It never gets boring watching Dujardin performe any test with any horse, because she every time manage to get the best outcome, no matter of the basic qualities.

Have a look at this long side from the lap of honor, for Dujardin and MSJ Freestyle (videoclip below).

We just can not wait to see more, and as Charlotte just told H2R "I love her to bits", just telling us that this is a horse we hopefully will see going all the way together with Charlotte Dujardin.
