Daniel and Zepter in another league

Yesterday it was a WAUW Grand Prix test from Daniel and Zepter, today is was a WOW Grand Prix Special test.

3rd international Grand Prix Special ever, and then scoring 78,128% nearly says everything, and starting the test with a very nice 75% after the entering halt was a good start, and from there Daniel and Zepter just stepped up the scoring and kept the very high level throughout the entire test. Nice balance uphill frame with good crossing for the half passes, super easy transition to passage at the letter, tiny tensions hind for the first small passage tour, but super power for the extensions and passage tours, 4 x 9 for the piaffes! Good transition for canter but a bit high tempo the first meters, but from there full control again. Very strong canter tour, and a top motivated Zepter for the one times at the centerline doing 11 instead of the required 9 - smiling rider.

The overall picture is with a lovely steady contact, well balanced natural forward search and never hind the rider - the picture of correct dressage.

From watching his development and the ease and qualities Zepter is doing the tests with now, he would be H2R´s first choice for Daniel for WEG.

The art of riding and training a horse in a manner that develops obedience, flexibility, and balance.
— Definition of Dressage

Danish Cathrine Dufour and Bohemian showed a very different test today. Much more focused and relaxed today, and it was obvious that Cathrine would try to show her young talented Bohemian with the best possible outcome. And mission complete - eventhough it was of course a test with a kind of the hand breake on. Individual placement today as no 4 with 72,429%:

3rd Dane was Rikke Svane with Finckenstein TSF, showing a solid test with some minor issues for the trot tour, and for the canter tour a bit of tensions hind where he change hind for a couple of times at straight line. Scoring 68,936%.

Dante Weltino OLD and Therese Nilshagen shows high qualities all the way today, nice power and suppleness, but for sure the series will be even better if Dante Weltino was a bit more uphill in the frame.

Apache and Emmelie Scholtens was dancing in the rain today. This final day of Equitour became more like a normal Danish pre-summer day with grey sky and rain. But it did not seem to distrub the combination and it is nice to see how Apache has grown up and Emmelie is able to show him the best possible way, without him being focused about what´s going on among the other horses.

With today´s Danish performances the podium ended with Swedish Nations Cup victory, Denmark second and The Netherlands at 3rd position.

Move the timeline to about 2:14:00 to watch Zepter and Daniels test.

Press release

The Nordic International Sales set new records

The second Nordic International Sales foal auction presented by Stutteri EVO has set new records with two foals sold for over 100,000 euros and a higher average price and higher turnover than last year

Buyers form Canada, USA, Poland, Germany, Norway and Denmark invested in 19 foals which sold for 763,000 euros at an average price of 40,158 euros.

At last year’s Nordic International Sales the filly Foal Faretti, bred by Henrik Hansen, became the price highlight of the auction. This year Henrik had three foals in the auction, and two of them sold for over 100,000 euros.

The filly foal Fellini with the unique pedigree achieved a knock-down price of 115,000 euros. The filly by Franklin is out of the young mare Souvenir that is a daughter of the only two triple world champions for young horses in history, Sezuan og Fiontini.

The filly foal Faretti II by Franklin/Don Frederico, a fullsister of the price highlight from 2017, sold for 102,000 euros. Both of Henrik Hansen’s fillies sold locally to breeders in Jutland.

The most expensive colt foal, Brix Falcon by Franklin/Fürstenball sold for 80,000 euros to Polish buyers. – We are very satisfied with the auction. The network behind the auction, led by Andreas Helgstrand, is very important for this immense success, says auctioneer Casper Cassøe.

Hønnerups Driver and Josefine Hoffmann are ready for the Danish Young Rider team

While Danish international rider Anna Kasprzak herself was in the saddle for the first time today after giving birth to baby Ella, her student Josefine Hoffmann was winning at the Young Rider freestyle at the international event at Uggerhalne.

This experienced boy former World Champion for Young horses and former Grand Prix horse under Anna Kasprzak "just" needs to adjusted all the way, but this is also kind of a job for the young rider Josefine. But today everything succeeded into the details and Josefine was able to manage and control the power from Driver. No technical issues and a great degree of difficulty. Well deserved freestyle victory with 75,500%.

Expectation for another Danish top performance was for Karoline Rohmann and Noosa Melody, but unfortunately Karoline forgot to show the 3 times today, which of course became a costly mistake bringing them down to 10th place.

Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Blue Hors Zepter today´s individual CDIO4 Grand Prix winner (video of the entire GP test)

It was pure WAUW for the young talented Blue Hors Zepter with Daniel Bachmann Andersen in the saddle today. Of course Daniel was very happy about his performance today with his "own" educated Zepter.

Scoring 76,215% just tells it all, but move the timeline to 2:08:50 to watch the test. The only thing was the last transition to trot which became a bit late and also the only exercise scoring 6,5 - 7 - 6,0 - 6,0 - 6,5.

Additionally with experienced Apache with Emmelie Scholtens and Dante Weltino OLD with Therese Nilshagen placed as no 2 and 3.

Apache showed a nice concentrated test with a smooth trot tour in a nice balance, the first transition to passage is a bit late, and it looks like he kick himself during the 2nd passage tour towards the 2nd piaffe, but luckily it does not affect the rest of the test. A small stallion kick for the change after the extended canter. Nice overall picture. 73,870%.

Super strong start for Therese Nilshagen and Dante Weltino OLD (looks a bit frightening with Danish eyes 😁 ), but in the middle of their test they seems to loose a bit of terrain while catching up again during the canter tour. Lovely frame all the way as usual. 73,087%

Danish team

Huge expectations for Cathrine Dufour and Bohemian today, but the invironment seems a bit too much for the 8 year old gelding, and a lot of tensions crept into the test, but Cathrine still manage to get along and going from 40-something% to the finish score of 65,717%.

Anna Zibrandtsen and Arlando look in form right until the bell rang from judge at C, bit of blood seen at the right side of the mouth (from a small bit in the tongue). Unfortunately Anna is not allowed starting tomorrows Grand Prix Special when not finished the Grand Prix today.

4th member of the Danish team Rikke Svane with Finckenstein TSF with a good job, nice flow for trot tour, piaffes need a bit more clear forward search and activity, for the canter Finckenstein becomes a bit tension hind for some moments today.

Tomorrow is a new day and for sure the Danes will try to catch the Dutch team. Right now the Swedish team seems to be too far ahead. But very small difference between The Netherlands and Denmark.

Severo and Deep Impact from last years lap of honor at Equitour. Photo credit: H2R

For today´s Grand Prix freestyle it was just with 6 combinations at start

Not surpricingly Severo Jurado Lopez and Deep Impact won again today. They showed a very strong freestyle. They both looked super motivated and focused on the job today, and Severo really stepped up the degree of difficulty for his freestyle with among one times with one hand, series on curved track and last but lot least coming from the one times out of the corner going into piaffe transition and turn at A for the final centerline. A pleasure to watch them grow together as this is just their second season at international level. They will for sure be ready for Tryon later this year.

2nd today was Kathleen Keller with San Royal. They showed a very controlled and smooth test without any issues, and it is a pleasure to watch Kathleen´s position and they way she presents her horse.

3rd was a debut freestyle for KWPN stallion Desperado and Emmelie Scholtens. Yesterday this combination made their international Grand Prix debut also with a placement as no 3. The just 10 year old stallion is doing a really nice job, overall without any weaknesses. Supple trot tour with good expression and nice balance, super walk tour, and good canter tour - here the only issue is not 100% settled one times as Desperado becomes a bit tense, but with super nice quality and balance for the pirouettes. And active piaffe tours with very nice transitions - for sure a couple to keep an eye on for the future.

Just 4 combinations for Grand Prix Special

Today´s winner Betina Jæger with Mane Steam Belstaff does actually know eachother very well as Betina also was the rider of Belstaff before he was sold to the USA. When watching them yesterday and today they just seems to have a very nice partnership. Lovely power in a very good balance for the trot tour, nice crossing uphill half passes, a small lack of impulsion for the first transition into passage, but nice regular and expressive passage, easy extensions and transitions back again, 1st piaffe lack a bit more activity, nice transition to canter smooth directly from the passage, but just rewarded with 4 x 7,5 and 1 x 6,5, very nice series, judge at C gave 9 for the one times, nice pirouettes, bit stocked transition at M to trot and a bit of tension for the final piaffe. Total score of 71,532% - easily a 73-74% test.

Bakkely´s Onandt and Lone Bang Larsen 2nd today. Starts with some tensions for the entering halt moving backward, nice half passes, and good passage and extensions, becomes a bit tight in the frame for some moments, extended walk lack a bit more let go, nice collected walk, nice piaffes again today with nice angles, the canter is with an error at the very end of the 15 one times and the 1st pirouette becomes a bit unbalanced while the 2nd is a bit bigger but better balanced, nice final. 70,128%

3rd today is Danish Helene Melsen with Aston Martin. Good halt and forward, unfortunately the first extension lack some balance, active half passes tilting the head a bit for the half pass to right, good walk tour, bit of tension for the piaffes, good canter tour, but error for the 9 one times, and 2nd pirouette lack more balance and control, good final. 65,957%.

Dansk Varmblod har også fokus på WFFS (Warmblood Fragile Foal Syndrom)

Skærmbillede 2018-05-25 kl. 14.11.15.png

Pressemeddelelse

CDI3 Grand Prix victory for Spanish Severo Jurado Lopez and Deep Impact today at Equitour Aalborg

Severo and Deep Impact repeats last years success at Equitour Aalborg - photo credit: H2R

Severo and Deep Impact repeats last years success at Equitour Aalborg - photo credit: H2R

Severo and Deep Impact showed again this year their strength winning today´s CDI3 Grand Prix with 73,022%.

Entering halt becomes a bit wide in front, super nice balanced power diagonal with the extended trot, nice balance/energy for half passes, nice halt but a bit cautious rein back with 4,5 step back wards, another super extended trot, good transition to passage, start the piaffe early and is much forward going, good relaxation for the walk tour, small tensions for 2nd piaffe, good transition to canter, nice 2 times, zig-zag wellbalanced, small over turn for 1st pirouette, 2nd pirouette with nice control, super extended trot 2 x 9, nice final with today´s best piaffe.

2nd today was German Kathleen Keller with San Royal. They were showing a very smooth trot tour in a nice balance, small insecure moments for the piaffes and an error for the 1 times.

3rd was Dutch Emmelie Scholtens with KWPN stallion Desperados. They showed a good halt, nice crossing with power half passes, good halt with just 4 steps backwards, nice extended trot, nice active piaffe and passage where you really can see how Emmelie manage to keep him active from behind all the time, super nice walk tour, smooth "dancing" 2nd piaffe, error for transition to canter, nice zig-zag, tense hind for 1 times with error in the middle, pirouettes becomes a bit over turn, nice final, open halt.

4th Danish Betina Jæger with Mane Stream Belstaff. Belstaff is former ridden by Betina and is now back. They really seems to suit eachother and showing an error free test with good piaffe and passage and a strong canter tour.

5th Danish Lone Bang Larsen and Bakkely´s Onandt were first to go. They were showing a test with good qualities, nice flow for half passes, lovely angle for the piaffe tours, but also with some issues where the timing was lacking a bit, and unfortunately for the canter tour with errors for both series.

Daula and Danielle Heijkoop winner of CDI3 Prix Sct. Georg at Equitour, Uggerhalne tonight

Beautiful weather for the first day of Equitour Aalborg 2018.

17 combinations at start for the first CDI3 competition today. Not unexpected is the elegant mare Daula by Gribaldi with Danielle Heijkoop showing a great test. Entering halt scoring 76% that was for sure today´s top start, and with a superb well balanced trot tour they just keep the 76% level, but after a less impressive walk tour the total score drops to 73,7%, 2nd walk pirouette becomes a bit big. For the canter tour there are a few issues with error by the change between the half passes and again an error for the 3 times, nice well performed canter pirouettes. At least the judging panel agreed about the level between 71,1 and 73,5%. Final score 71,912%.

Watching the scoreboard something is for sure not in line

Looking at the scoring for 2nd placed Danish Marianne Yde Helgstrand with Super Mario, it does look a bit odd with scoring from British judge at M Jo Graham having the combination placed as no 12 with just 67%, where the other judges has the combination placed as no 5 - 2 - 2 - 1. They show a very nice trot tour with power and balance, the collected walk tour becomes a bit unbalanced, while the extended walk is supple with ground cover and huge over track, the canter tour is solid without any issues.

No 3 was another Danish combination Carina Nevermann Torup with Danish Warmblood gold medal mare Greven Sa VA. They show a strong test, from H2R point of view a bit too high tempo for the trot tour, and a solid canter tour with nice quality except some mixed up thing for the 2 times. Again the placements from the judges were a bit strange, 3 - 5 - 10 - 2 - 4.

Germany´s Kathleen Keller with Deal show at great test except the walk tour. From Danish judge at E Hans Chr. Matthiesen with walk pirouettes for 5 - 5 and 4 for collected walk at 6,5 for extended walk, while his German colleague at H Gotthilf Riexinger gives 6 - 6,5 for walk pirouettes and 7 for collected walk and 7 for extended walk. But how was the walk actually?

The other Danish combinations

Betina Jæger and Møllegårdens Pas Partout showed a nice power trot tour with good flow, the walk pirouettes becomes a bit unbalanced, and the series are with a bit of tensions.

Michael Nielsen and Count to Ten WN shows an overall nice test, the weakest point is the walk tour.

Dennis Fisker and Carlton Hill VDL showing a nice trot tour, loosing a step for the 2nd walk pirouette and lack in general more collection and balance for both canter pirouettes, and with a small error for the 4 times series.

Anne Marie Hosbond and Diva Unik shows a good test, but just lacking some highlights. It becomes a bit ordinary the overall picture.

Lone Bang Larsen and Thranegaardens Rostov did not really have the best day together today. Bit tense start and unbalanced medium trot, bit spooky by volte at E, bit tense walk tour and a couple of issues for the canter tour.

Hattrick i vente

Isabell Werth winner of Louisdor Preis qualifier at Pfingst Turnier in Wiesbaden today (video)

Skærmbillede 2018-05-21 kl. 18.23.04.png

The sun was shining for this final day at the international event in Wiesbaden.

Isabell Werth did only show her 10 year old Quintus by Quaterback / Florestan for today´s qualifier as she only showed Belantis for the first day, and still think he is lacking some more experience.

Word of praise from Frau Wust (international judge) at the sideline for the subsequent comments and small interview with the rider. Speaking a lot about the regularity and potential (from H2R point of view not as high quality yet, speaking about the regularity for the passage as Quintus still becomes a bit uneven hind when not pushing equally).

8 year old Abegglen FH by Ampere / Carabas with Marcus Hermes did show a strong and easy test with nice piaffe / passage and good transitions. Nice series og good pirouettes, the only issue today was some tensions for the walk tour.

Another debut Louisdor Preis combination was the 10-year-old Foudation by Fidertanz / De Vito shown by Mattias Alexander Rath. Huge qualities for the extended exercises, and also showing nice passage work and good series, unfortunately with an error for the huge one times. Ok pirouettes, and piaffe is a bit cautious, but still at the spot but still lacking some more clear technic for the transitions in and out. They ended as no 5 with 70,558%.

Today´s Grand Prix Special was dominated by the Swedish Ramel sisters, both trained by Patrik Kittel.

Juliette Ramal still has her hand full for some moments during the test today, but this horse Buriel K.H. just show so much qualities "in between" with extraordinary expressive passage, smooth transitions, sharp active piaffe tours and outstanding pirouettes. 75,532%

And today the sister of Juliette, Antonia Ramel with her gelding Brother de Jeu took the 2nd place. This combination was also at start earlier this year at CDI3 in Herning DEN, and since that time they´ve gained a lot of confidence, and now being able to show their test with both high qualities and just a few minor issues.

Very exciting times for both girls for the next months towards WEG selection.

Both Danish combinations did good tests with a few minor issues, but kept the silver position for the Danish team.

If you want to watch the entire Grand Prix Special you will find the Youtube link below.

Move the timeline to 51:50 to watch Ulrik Mølgaard / Michigan (DEN), 1:44.40 Juliette Ramel / Buriel K.H. (SWE), and to 2:05:40 for Anders Dahl / Selten HW (DEN).

Again today Cassidy and Cathrine showed their strength being individual winner of the Grand Prix freestyle with their new freestyle.

Super intense with lots of transitions and super power, high degree of difficulty. Just a small issue going into the one times where it looks like Cassidy misunderstands the signal and instead doing transition to trot, but Cathrine catch the canter quickly and makes a line of superb one times. 84,250%.

Watch the test from Cassidy and Dufour at the time 1:41:40. Right after is Patrik Kittel with Well Done de la Roche scoring 78,950% (from H2R point of view a clear +80% test), and placed 3rd is Gareth Hughes with Classic Briolinca (76,825%) - they are right after Kittel.

Well deserved CDI4 Grand Prix victory for 18 year old D´Agostino and Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier (video)

Finally again at the top of the podium

Germany´s Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier and her long time international partner D´Agostino are always in top of the field, but not very often as winners - last time they won was the CDI-W Grand Prix at Neumünster back in 2015.

Today they took a well deserved victory at Wiesbaden showing their powerful style from start till end of the test, and it does for sure not look like an 18 year old top horse being at the international circut for the last 7 years. It is a pleasure to follow this combination as they are always topmotivated entering the arena.

79,696% for Danish Dufour and Cassidy

This score just shows how strong they actually are. And as Dufour said after her ride today:

"I´m very pleased about our performance, as I did not ask for maximum at anytime today - it was a very nice feeling leaving the arena with a clear test knowing there is actually more to show".

Entire Swedish team in Compeigne are students of Patrik Kittel

Kittel is a busy and successful man himself, and today he secured himself and his team the leader position in the CDIO5 competition, with strong test from Juliette Ramel and her extraordinary Buriel K.H. going into 2nd position for the individual ranking today, and the sister of Juliette, Antonia Ramel with Brother de Jeu into 5th position and Rose Matthiesen with Zuidenwind as no 7.

H2R comments about top 3 tests today

1 - Atterupgaards Cassidy - Super entering halt, nice half passes, super halt with rein back, easy 1st piaffe / passage, super walk tour, nice 2nd piaffe / passage, small tension for transition to canter, nice 2 times, power extended canter, nice zig-zag, good 1 times, well balanced pirouettes, super final centerline.

2 - Buriel K.H - tense halt, good extended trot but bit tense, nice half passes, tense halt for rein back bit forward, active piaffe nice transitions, good walk, WOW 2nd piaffe / passage / transitions, strong canter tour with nice series, good zig-zag, 1st pirouette becomes too small an Buriel loosing the balance, 2nd pirouette is WOW with huge sit and balance, bit tense transition to trot, superb final centerline.

3 - Well Done de la Roche - tense halt, extended trot bit on the toes and lacking more let go, lovely light footed supple half passes, good halt for rein back bit tense rein back, super nice transition to passage, easy in and out of a good piaffe, nice expression for the passage, bit on the toes for the extended walk, good collected walk, super nice 2nd passage/piaffe/passage tour. Very strong canter tour with lovely series and well performed pirouettes, nice flow and go all the way, super nice final centerline, super straight and well balanced final.

H2R comments about the two other Danish team members

6 - Selten HW - Super start, power extension, nice half passes with good swing and balance, superb halt for rein back bit resistance for rein back, 1st piaffe bit forward and lack more steps, good extended walk, bit tense collected walk, tension hind for transition to passage (small kick), lack more clear rhythm for 2nd piaffe, error for 2 times, bit unbalanced zig-zag, one change for 1 times with parallel hind, super nice control and quality of both pirouettes, best piaffe at final centerline.

18 - Michigan - super start with well balanced entering halt, straight out into trot, expressive power extension, good half passes with nice swing, not square halt for rein back, good transition to a nice passage, unfortunately very limited 1st piaffe tour as Michigan is only showing very small steps lacking elevation and activity, good walk tour with nice transition into a good passage, 2nd piaffe becomes a bit better, good transition to canter, very solid canter tour with nice big series, good zig-zag but pirouettes could be with more sit and centering, final piaffe becomes again very limited.
