PRESS RELEASE

Verden. With the auction of the dressage stallions, the stallion licensing and stallion sales of the Hannoveraner Verband ended with an absolute highlight. After 17 stallions with modern jumping genes had already been licensed two days before, 25 two-and-a-half-year-old colts with exquisite dressage pedigrees received the positive licensing result. Eight of them were awarded a premium. The top price was 490,000 Euros, on average 126,409 Euros had to be invested for a licensed dressage stallion.

A dark chestnut by Sezuan/Sir Donnerhall (breeder: Gestüt Neff, Frankenberg, exhibitor: Pascal Kandziora, Spelle) out of the best dam line already convinced on the triangle. The impressive poverful mover aroused great desire. After the exciting bidding duel, the stallion was sold for 490,000 Euros to a customer from Schleswig-Holstein. For his exhibitor Pascal Kandziora the Niedersachsenhalle is a happy place, last year he had already prepared the top price colt for the licensing. Number two on the price scale was a son of Bon Coeur/Fürst Nymphenburg (breeder: Bernhard Dodenhof, Bülstedt, exhibitor: Nicole Schachtmann, Nürtingen), who will be travelling for 380,000 Euros to Helgstrand Dressage in Denmark. He will be accompanied by three other stallions. "The standard for the premiums was set very high," said Hannes Baumgart. The dressage rider and renowned trainer and breeder belonged to the licensing commission for the first time.

The most expensive stallion without a premium was a son of Farrell/Livaldon (breeder: Wienke Winkelmann, Wurster Nordseeküste, Ausst: Dr. Kerstin Klieber, Meinersen). The sunnyboy out of the damline of Stange will move for 110,000 Euros into a box at the stallion station of Gerd Sosath, Lemwerder, The State Stud Celle acquired three two-and-a-half-year olds: a bay by Diamond Hit/Lauries Crusador xx (breeder: Stefanie Meyer, Allwörden, exhibitor: Jochen Meyer, Allwörden), a bay Foundation/Competent (breeder and exhibitor: Dr. Michael Lühs, Wagenfeld) and a son of Zoom/Fürst Nymphenburg (breeder: Ludwig Fuchs, Meinerzhagen, exhibitor: Anneli Brunckhorst, Hollenstedt). A son of Quando Unico/San Amour (breeder and exhibitor: Heinrich Gießelmann, Barver) will leave in direction of the State Stud in Warendorf.

The auction of the dressage stallions was opened by a varied show programme. Already in April, the privately owned stallion Foundation was awarded the Grande Prize. Now the bay stallion was honoured in a festive setting. Furthermore, the Mare of the Year, St.Pr.St. Daylight, was celebrated.

Huge activity and many buyers for today’s auction

The final day at this year’s HANN stallion licensing became with a few surprices.

As usual the Hanoverian breeding commission named more Premium stallions than the obvious best quality stallions, but surprisingly two stallions went clearly “off” for the breeding commission. No 51 by Blue Hors Farrell / Livaldon only got the licensing, as he showed clear qualities worth a Premium stallion. The stallion was sold at the auction to Gerd Sosath for 110.000 euro. At the same time the very well moving and super expressive Secret / Fürst Romancier with no 67 was surprisingly not licensed.

Gut Schönweide purchased the beautiful lever chestnut stallion by Sezuan / Sir Donnerhall I. Well moving and super well behaved by every single presentation, and even at the auction he was for a part of the auction presented by Pascal Kandziora standing relaxed in the middle and just enjoying the spotlight.

Helgstrand Dressage secured 4 top Hanoverian stallions at today’s auction - all Premium stallions:

  • 34 by Benicio / Scuderia - 380.000 euro

  • 37 by Bon Coeur / Fürst Nymphenburg - 320.000 euro

  • 63 by Secret / Belissimo M - 75.000 euro

  • 76 by Zoom / Waterford - 220.000 euro

And additionally Helgstrand secured the super expressive and well moving Zackerey / Tomahawk before the licensing and now also licensed.

The picture change over the different presentations of the stallions.

Yesterday’s presentation with free jumping showed a bit about the overall impression, today at the triangle you’ve got another impression, and from that H2R made a favourite list:

  • 35 by Bob Marley / Alvarino - lovely balance and expression.

  • 37 by Bon Coeur / Fürst Nymphenburg - super model (unfortunately the presenter did not leave him a second to be able to stand still in front of the judges)

  • 44 De Niro / Sandro Hit - look like a very nice future sport horse

  • 51 Blue Hors Farrell / Livaldon - super boy

  • 52 D´avie / Desperados - super modern long legged type

  • 62 Revolution / Donnerschwee - stallion format

  • 66 Secret / Stedinger - super type

  • 68 Sezuan / Sir Donnerhall I - beautiful model

  • 67 Secret / Fürst Romancier - full package

  • 73 Blue Hors Zackerey / Tomahawk - his got the look

  • 76 Zoom / Waterford - best of Zoom boys

One more selection

This afternoon was with lunging of the stallions and once again you’ve got the chance to watch the stallions were you have even better possibillities to see the qualities of the balance, contact, frame and all 3 gaits.

H2R list reduced to 4 stallions: (66 Secret / Stedinger H2R top favourite after lunging)

Horsetelex captured today’s lunging of H2R favourites.

FEI confirms Jumping & Dressage European Championships 2021 in Germany

FEI confirms Jumping & Dressage European Championships 2021 in Germany

The FEI has committed to allocate European Championships in two Olympic disciplines – Jumping and Dressage – for 2021, both to German venues.

The FEI Board has confirmed allocation of the FEI Jumping European Championships 2021 to Riesenbeck, home-base of Barcelona 1992 Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum, pending final confirmation from the Organiser. The Championships will be listed in the FEI Calendar for 30 August to 4 September 2021.

Confirmation of the decision on the two Championships came at yesterday’s FEI Board meeting, held via videoconference. The FEI Board, with the full support of the European Equestrian Federation (EEF), agreed that in view of the rescheduled Olympic and Paralympic Games and the huge amount of planning involved, if either of the venues is unable to host these Championships, the bid process for 2021 will not be re-opened.

Following the postponement of this year’s Tokyo Games to 2021, the FEI Board had previously ruled that European Championships in the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines should not be held next year to allow the focus to be on Tokyo. However, the EEF and a number of European National Federations urged the FEI Board to review its decision, resulting in yesterday’s resolution.

“We are very happy to have great venues at Riesenbeck and Hagen available to host the European Championships in Jumping and Dressage next year and we look forward to receiving the final confirmation from the two Organisers for these Championships to go ahead”, FEI President Ingmar De Vos said.

“These Championships have really been a great example of the FEI, EEF, the German National Federation, the two Organisers and everyone else involved working together to accommodate the wishes of the European National Federations and the Athletes’ community to have these Championships next year. I am particularly grateful for the valuable work done by the FEI Technical Committees and Calendar Task Forces.”

Sadly there will be no FEI European Eventing Championships in 2021 as the organisers that had put in expressions of interest to host the Championships subsequently withdrew from the process.

The FEI European Para Dressage Championships will also not take place in 2021 to allow athletes to focus on the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

VIDEO - day 1 at Danish Warmblood 35-days stallion performance test

16 young stallions ready for Danish Warmblood 35-days performance test

A sunny and cold Monday with a field of fresh young stallions presented at day 1 for their 35-days stallion performance test.

All stallions looked fresh and well prepared for the performance test. Each stallion was presented at hard surface and checked by the vet, and subsequently presented about 5 minutes under saddle.

Very interesting to follow the stallions, some of them from Danish Warmblood pre-selection last autumn, over the stallion licensing back in March with final presentation under saddle. Having finished their first season as breeding stallion and now continueing with the testing under saddle, temperament and daily handling.

Final day at the performance test is 22 November.

FEI PRESS RELEASE - Another dream double for Dufour at first leg in Denmark

Germany’s Werth and von Bredow-Werndl finish second and third

There’s nothing like a home victory to please the crowd, and although numbers were limited as pandemic protocols were strictly in place, Cathrine Dufour’s winning ride with Bohemian at the first leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2020/2021 Western European League in Aarhus (DEN) brought spectators to their feet today.

Last season, when the opening round of the series was staged at the Boxen arena in Herning, the Danish pair claimed top honours in both the Grand Prix and Freestyle. And this weekend they did it all over again in the considerably more modest confines of the Danish National Equestrian Centre in Vilhelmsborg, but with even more confidence and flair.

Fifth-last to go in the field of 15 starters they posted a big score of 88.200 to take the lead. And although defending five-time series champion Isabell Werth came dangerously close when last to go with Emilio, her score of 87.845 wasn’t enough to prevent another Dufour double.

Werth filled runner-up spot ahead of German compatriot Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Zaire-E in third, and the Danes had even more to cheer about when Carina Cassøe Krüth and Heiline’s Danciera put in a brilliant performance to line up in fourth.

Same top three

It was the same top-three in yesterday’s Grand Prix in which Dufour’s winning margin was much wider, her mark of 88.435 leaving her more than five percentage points ahead of the two Germans who both posted 77 percent scores.

"Bohemian was really good in the Grand Prix, he was just playing with all the moves. Today I had to push him a bit more, but he’s getting more and more brave and he loves being in the ring!"

Cathrine Dufour (DEN)

She had the leading score of 82.105, set by Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg and the 18-year-old Damsey FRH, in her sights as she set sail this afternoon. Bohemian seemed to be listening as she spoke quietly and patted him before their music began, and the harmony between the partnership oozed through every movement, with crisp, clean piaffe and passage a particular highlight throughout a lovely test.

When they came to a halt, the horse dropped his head in complete relaxation knowing that was a job well done. And when over 88 percent went up on the board it was obvious it was not going to be an easy score to beat.

Consummate ease

Von Bredow-Werndl’s mare, Zaire-E, produced a lovely test for 85.335 while Sweden’s Patrik Kittel and Delaunay Old, who presented no less than 18 one-tempi changes with consummate ease, earned a score of 82.575.

Second-last into the ring, Cassøe Krüth whose nine-year-old mare Heiline’s Danciera gave notice of her great promise when finishing fourth at the FEI WBFSH Young Horse Championships at Ermelo (NED) two years ago, provided another Danish treat for a mark of 84.455 to slot temporarily into third place.

However Werth was still to come, and although Emilio had not given his rider his full cooperation in yesterday’s Grand Prix, few doubted the German legend’s capacity for pulling off a big result this time out. But it didn’t happen and it was Dufour who was the one waving at the masked crowd during this evening’s prizegiving ceremony.

Achieved so much

The 28-year-old Danish athlete achieved so much with her little chestnut gelding Atterupgaards Cassidy who took her all the way from Junior level to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and on to three bronze medals at the FEI European Championships in Gothenburg (SWE) in 2017 and Grand Prix Special bronze at last year’s Europeans in Rotterdam (NED). Bohemian is now stepping into the spotlight, and Dufour believes he has a lot more to show.

“He hasn’t reached anything like his limits, he’s still developing mentally and there’s definitely more room for improvement from him - I’m delighted with him!”, she said happily.

The second leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2020/2021 Western European League is scheduled to take place in Salzburg (AUT) from 3 to 6 December 2020.

Two intensive international dressage days started today at Vilhelmsborg, Denmark

Today with CDI3 Prix St. Georg, CDI3 Grand Prix and CDI-W Grand Prix, and it was a pure “candy day” for dressage lovers as all 3 classes were with high profile riders and top horses.

Prix St. Georg

Top mare Straight Horse Ascenzione (full sister of triple World Champion for Young Horses Sezuan) with Helen Langehanenberg in the saddle showed why they undoubtedly are going to WCYH again this year representing Danish Warmblood. Super strong winner performance 76,412%, closely followed by debut combination Patrik Kittel with 8 year old Swedish bred Touchdown. A super well moving and very interesting horse for the future.

Nanna Merrald and Blue Hors Farrell with power balanced trot tour, the walk tour becomes a bit unbalanced, while the canter overall has really improved.

CDI3 Grand Prix

Victoria Max-Theurer and her recent new addition Abegglen FH NRW showed a very strong performance with very much power and balance, easy piaffe and expressive passage, the walk becomes a bit short overall, good canter tour.

Right in the footsteps of Max-Theurer was Dufour, this time with international debut together with the just 8 year old Vamos Amigos by Vitalis. Might have mentioned this before, but a top talented horse like Vamos is just in the best hands of Dufour. The bonding Dufour is able to make with her horses is incredible. Watching her at the warm up building up the bricks one by one before going into the main arena, and being 200% aware of how difficult the task actually is by cheering up Vamos, speaking to him and pat him every time he is doing some great steps.

More new combinations

Eros and Australian Lyndal Oatley also made their international debut together today. Lots of nice things with huge talent for piaffe and passage, and most of all he looks a real pal in the arena trying to the best all the way.

Andreas Helgstrand has temporary taken over the reins of Fuhur from his student Anna Kasprzak, as she is expecting her 2nd child and wanted to give Fuhur some more competition experience.

Dennis Fisker made his international debut with Qabil Ambak´s Delation and Anna Zibrandtsen with Detroit. For both combination they just need some. more experience together in the arena.

World Cup

Personal Best score of 83,435% for Dufour with Bohemian was 5,5% ahead of Queen of dressage Isabell Werth with Emilio.

Placed 5 - 8 was also pure Danish, World Cup debut for Heiline´s Danciera with Carina Cassøe Krüth, as it was also World Cup debut for Fiontini with Andreas Helgstrand, like Bufranco with Charlotte Heering also made their World Cup debut. Lone Bang Larsen and Bakkely´s Onandt continued their success from Hagen with another technical error free test and another Personal Best with 73,456%

Corona restrictions are of course a huge part of the event, but everybody is following the organisers requirements and riders, horses, officials and reduced spectators were all happy being a part of this smaller set-up.

Today the CDI event at Le Mans started. The huge indoor arena (Grand Hall) really makes a great arena.

A quite modest collection of HANN stallions this year

From H2R point of view by the video presentation there is just one really WOW stallion no 67 by Secret / Fürst Romancier / Weltmeyer, but of course with some other very interesting stallion prospects like no 67 by Revolution / Donnerschwee, and no 73 by Blue Hors Zackerey / Tomahawk, while no 71 by Vitalis / Stedinger still lacking a bit more stallion expression.

When this years HANN stallion licensing comes up it is of course also with corona restrictions as you have to present at negative COVID-19 test when entering the Niedersachenhalle. (full informations here)
