Christmas greeting from Helgstrand Dressage "A year that we will never forget"

unnamed-9.png
unnamed-35.jpg

The ending of this year is approaching and even though we would prefer not to mention COVID19, then we can’t deny that this pandemic has had an influence on this year’s events and the cancellation of several of them. We really looked forward to the yearly Open House-event where we normally show our collection of stallions and open our doors for everyone that wishes to see the company from the inside.

Before the world closed down in March we luckily participated at the stallion shows in Germany and the biggest event of the year The Danish Warmblood Stallion Show in Herning. This was the beginning of a fantastic breeding season with results that have never been greater.

Fortunate by Foundation/Quaterback.

Fortunate by Foundation/Quaterback.

Amazing breeding season ahead

2020 was also the year where Helgstrand had to say goodbye to several of the top breeding stallions among them D’avie by Don Juan de Hus/Londonderry, who was sold to Lisa Müller through Isabell Werth. Isabell Werth also secured herself a future top horse, the Sezuan offspring Joshua. Janiero Platinum left the stable and we look very much forward to follow this exceptional stallion at his new owner, Christinelund Dressage in Sweden.

Also, our darling Quarterhit moved to France to Dominique Degueldre and is now trained by Stephanie Brieussel. Luckily several new young top stallions were added to the collection at the stallion licensing shows, such as the Champion Stallion from Westfalen, Forever Love by Fair Game/Destano or the Champion Stallion from Oldenburg, Fortunate by Foundation/Quaterback. The breeders can therefore look forward to the new breeding season 2021, to a collection of stallions that has never looked more fantastic.

the U25 Danish Dressage Championship.

Achieving amazing results despite the situation

Even though many of the competitions were cancelled this year, we managed to qualify 24 horses for the finals at the Danish National Championships for Young Dressage Horses and 15 horses were qualified for the prestigious World Championship for Young Horses.

The riders at Helgstrand have done an amazing job and among the impressive results, we can mention Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen’s Gold Medal at the European Championship for U25 riders and also winning the Danish Championship for U25 riders together with Foco Loco-w.

In addition, Alexander Helgstrand won the Team-Silver Medal at the European Championship with Grevens Sa’Va’.

Andreas also had some impressive results with the three-time World Champion Fiontini, which he won the Bronze Medal at the Danish Championship with - a horse that Andreas hope to qualify to the Olympics.
Nothing is that bad, that something good can’t come out of it – our riders use this competition break to train the horses and they all show top form and great development. This is shown at the sales list at Helgstrand, where new horses are added every week – so if you are looking for your future star or a skilled and experienced Grand Prix horse, then now is the time to get in contact with us.

New location in Germany

2020 was the year where Helgstrand invested in new facilities in Germany, Helgstrand Germany, which is located between the three largest German Breeding Associations near Syke, a little south of Bremen. Eva and Ulf Möller moved here at the end of November and have settled very well in the new surroundings and an intriguing selection of horses from Helgstrand have already moved in.

Now that we have come to the news from abroad, we can add that the renovation of Helgstrand Dressage USA is soon finished. The horses have already moved in and the competition season has started. In addition to the abroad news, we can add a new partnership; the four-times Olympics participant and British Equestrian legend Richard Davidson who shall be in charge of the British side of Helgstrand.

Many new projects to come

Finally, 2020 was also the year where Helgstrand invested in new and exciting projects. With the ambition to be the leading equestrian company, Helgstrand brought the majority of shares in the equestrian brand Kingsland Equestrian and in addition established cooperation with X-Drive Robots about Riding Arena Robots, which is robots for preparation and maintenance of indoor arenas.

Even though COVID19 affected and challenged us, we are pleased to still have some very good results to look back on throughout the year. Now we look forward and hope for a better 2021. New and exciting projects are on their way and we can’t wait to reveal them to you in the new year.

Finally, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and New Year. May the holidays and the New Year bring joy to you and your family.

Take care during this situation.

Greetings,

Marianne og Andreas Helgstrand.

Dujardin in a league of her own with her two horses at British national championships today

Screen Shot 2020-12-21 at 19.05.31.png
Screen Shot 2020-12-21 at 19.05.53.png

Dujardin showed both her horses with usual strong performances, and was just in a league of her own. Small unbalanced moments for the piaffe tours for both horses, but huge ability and power. Superb half passes in both trot and canter for both horses, super expressive passage tour, expressive extended trot for MSJ Freestyle where Gio still needs a bit more technic and strength to push for the extensions. Both horses with good pirouettes, and presented in a lovely closed and steady frame.

The new partnership En Vogue by Jazz with Charlotte Dujardin´s horse ridden by Carl Hester showed a technical well performed test, but overall missing more balance and of this was just their beginning of a partnership and from the sideline very very well scored with 77%!

Laura Tomlinson and her big well moving Bordeaux mare Rose of Bavaria does not show any exercise weaknesses, but the lack of self carriage and very strong contact does unfortunately not give a nice harmonious picture.

Tomorrow the 15 best combinations will be ready for the freestyle.

Remember you can follow the competition via horseandcountry.tv for free. Grand Prix freestyle is scheduled to 10.45 local time (11.45 CET).

VIDEOS - well deserved winners of Nürnberger Burg-Pokal and Louisdor Preis finals

Destacado FRH and Matthias Alexander Rath showed a great winner performance in yesterday’s final at Nürnberger Burg-Pokal on home soil.

Rath and Destacado advanced from 4th position at the preliminary test. Destacado shows super power and suppleness for the trot tour in a very nice balance and frame, superb walk tour with huge over track for the extended walk, active and clear collected walk, good canter but still showing some tensions for the series.

Click at the photo below to watch the 76,268% test.

Sandra Nuxoll with two young top Grand Prix horses and from the preliminary test Bonheur de la Vie by Bordeaux showed power and qualities a winner worthy.

For more of the competitors the clarity and balanced became some of the issues, but for sure a field of more future international Grand Prix horses.

700.000 euro top price at PSI auction for 4 year old Dimaggio / Benetton Dream stallion

PART OF NEWS AT PSI-AUKTION.DE

Ankum — Success made by P.S.I.’, a recipe for success that prevails even in times of Corona and nationwide lockdown. The trust of the international buyers in the Kasselmann and Schockemöhle families and the loyalty to the P.S.I. brand seem unlimited. “We would like to thank our clients, employees and everyone involved for the trust places in us in those troubled times”, summarized Paul Schockemöhle and Ullrich Kasselmann.

For the first time in the 41-year history of Performance Sales International, the event took place without an audience. Bidding on the selected dressage and show jumping collection took place exclusively by telephone after prior registration. For a last look at the auction candidates in the ring, there was FaceTime with the sales managers or a live stream on the P.S.I. homepage. However, two other traditions were not interrupted: as in previous years Marko Vassalli sang Beethoven’s well-known ‘Ode to Joy’ at the start the auction, and the quality of the collection again left nothing to be desired this year.

The four-year-old Hanoverian stallion Diaton (Dimaggio x Benetton Dream) was certainly on the wish list of many dressage connoisseurs. The son of the well-known dressage horse maker Dimaggio is out of Blind Date Bailola by Benetton Dream, who is competed by Swedish Olympian Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven. The pedigree is completed on the maternal side by the Trakehner stallion Hohenstein. In the end, clients of Californian Grand Prix trainer David Wilson, Perfect International Equine Inc came out on top at 700,000 Euros. Frederic Wandres, Hof Kasselmann rider and Olymic squad member, is entitled to train Diaton for the international young horse sport.

A ‘hot line’ to the dressage mecca Wellington secured another future star in the arena: the licensed Virtual Story by Vitalis x Don Primero comes from the proven Oldenburg dam line of Love Story, which has already brought us many successful dressage horses, elite mares and premium stallions, such as Dream Catcher and Franklin’s Love.

The full siblings Great Story and Gremlin by Grey Flannel x Donnerschwee sold for 450,000 and 500,000 Euros respectively. The talented KWPN gelding Jovanni (Davino x Gribaldi) had already caused a buzz in the live presentation last weekend and was worth 500,000 Euros to a well-known patron of dressage in Germany.

The prestigious finals takes place at Schafhof in Kronberg this year

For both Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final and Louisdor Preis 12 finalists were ready for this very speciel 2020 edition. Everything adjusted according to the corona restrictions and for this event only the rider and one person per horse were allowed.

No coincidence that Dorothe Schneider actually has 3 horses qualified for the finals, but just allowed to start two. And from watching today’s “warm-up” class Sisters Act MD OLD look like the clear winner even though she was pretty close with her second finalist Villeneuve at the scoreboard.

Danish co-owned HANN stallion Fürsten-Look with Isabel Freese showed a solid test unfortunately with some technical issues today.

Full results here.

The winner of Louisdor Preis final is still open

Louisdor Preis final is a difficult task for the young Grand Prix horses, and from just some tiny tensions the demanding test becomes quite difficult in order to keep it all together, focus, strength and accuracy. Today’s absolute highlights were presented by Sandra Nuxoll. Both horses showed top qualities, lovely frame and not least eager to work and performe. Sandra Nuxoll is for sure not Mrs. no name in the sport as she also spotted and produced three international top horses Delaunay OLD (Patrik Kittel), Stand by Me (Lisa Müller) and Destiny OLD (Kristina Bröring-Sprehe).

Bonheur de la Vie & Sandra Nuxoll

Good halt, bit running diagonal, bit unbalanced half passes to right, lovely passage, active piaffe off the ground, nice transitions, good short diagonal, nice into expressive passage, super nice 2nd piaffe tiny forward, sharp out into expressive passage, good relaxed extended walk, good collected walk, medium canter need more volume, good 1st pirouette, good 2 times, well managed 2nd pirouette, super 1 times, easy into trot, super passage, tiny forward trend for piaffe, super passage.

Danish Warmblood represented with two horses

The clear Danish combination Danish Warmblood gelding Marschall-Bell by Blue Hors Don Romantic/Michellino (bred by Tina and Nicolai Jepsen) with Danish Daniel Bachmann Andersen showed a nice test, some minor tensions today and no major issues and finished as 4th like Danish Warmblood gelding Rockson by Blue Hors Rockefeller/Sorento (breeder Anette Nilausen and Niels Jørgen Johansen) with German rider Uwe Schwanz also with some minor tensions today (finished 7th). Both Danish horses can for sure jump up the ranking for tomorrow´s finals.

Marschall-Bell & Daniel Bachmann Andersen:

Good halt, good power for medium trot, need bit more uphill for half passes, active hind for passage, small distrub in piaffe good at the spot, nice passage, bit unbalanced piaffe, good transition out into expressive passage, good relaxed extended walk, bit hurried collected walk, good medium canter, nice half pass, lost balance pirouette, good 2 times need bit more uphill, very nice 2nd pirouette, good 1 times bit tense, nice into trot, good passage small lack of impuls into piaffe, good passage, nice halt.

PART OF FEI PRESS RELEASE

FEI Board makes key Championship decisions for 2021 and 2022

The FEI Board took a series of key decisions on allocation, cancellation, and reopening of bids for FEI Championships at its videoconference meeting this week.

Following the cancellation by the Organiser of the FEI Dressage European Championship U25 2021 in Donaueschingen (GER), the Board agreed to reopen the bidding process for the Championship. The deadline for expressions of interest to be submitted to the FEI (bidding@fei.org) is 15 January 2021 and the FEI Board will take a decision on the allocation of this Championship at its February 2021 teleconference.

Due to the Covid-19 related cancellation of the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses 2020 in Verden (GER), and following consultation with all parties involved, the Board agreed to reallocate the 2021 Championship to Verden. The 2021 Championship had originally been allocated to Ermelo (NED) for the three-year cycle, 2021-2023. The Board has now agreed to allocate the 2024 Championship to Ermelo, meaning that the Dutch venue will host the Championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Hannoveraner Yearbook Stallions 2021 published

Screen+Shot+2020-12-17+at+09.46.37.jpg

PRESS RELEASE

Verden. The Hannoveraner Yearbook Stallions 2021 has been published. In addition to the proven, comprehensive set of figures, there are some innovations. Show classes and the breeding value "height" are published. This makes the yearbook an essential source of information for modern breeders.

For the first time, the section "Offspring Performance Sport" lists the levels in which offspring of a stallion are successful. For the disciplines dressage and jumping there is valuable additional information on this subject. The "Progeny Performance Breeding" lists the Hannoveraner or Rhineland progeny registered for the Hannoveraner Verband. For the first time this number is divided into several age groups. In the section "Breeding Value Estimation" the breeding value height is added.

The proven and interesting reference book offers on 600 pages the current breeding value estimation and a lot of information about the sires. In addition, all young stallions, which were registered for the first time in 2020 in the Stallion Book I of the Hannoveraner Verband, are presented in detail with photo and text. The stallions approved for Hannover are published in the yearbook with information on the results of the stallion performance test, successes in competitions, breeding values from mare performance tests, studbook inspections and selections for auctions. Show successes of the offspring, number of licensed sons, daughters with state premium or Hannoveraner premium and auction horses can also be found. WFFS test results are included, too.

The Hannoveraner Yearbook of Stallions 2021 costs 25 Euro plus mailing costs and is available from the Hannoveraner Verband.

Four highlights from live presentation of PSI Auction collection

Saturday afternoon the beautiful Christmas decorated arena was prepared to show this years PSI collection.

From the 22 young horses, H2R picked 4 which all showed really nice qualities, and looked like potential prospects for the big sport.

Very interesting that the Gribaldi bloodline via Grey Flanell and Top Gear (by Totilas) dominate for three of the absolute best horses from this collection.

If your curious to watch yourself yesterday’s live presentation is not yet available on the archive at Clipmyhorse.

First shown at the presentation was no 8 by Top Gear. Supple well moving in all three gaits, showing nice contact and super ride ability.

Screen+Shot+2020-12-13+at+09.38.50.jpg

No 1 by Grey Flanell - Top “here I am” look, lovely natural frame, super contact and bodywise soft. Full package horse.

Screen%2BShot%2B2020-12-13%2Bat%2B09.39.20.jpg

No 17 by Grey Flanell - some moments with wow, but also showing some tensions at the presentation, but definitely look like a horse with a huge potential for the future.

Screen+Shot+2020-12-13+at+09.40.13.jpg

No 19 - Super light footed feminine and impressive mare. Super well balanced and expressive trot with lovely balance and shoulder freedom, good walk and good canter, but not an outstanding canter as you could wish for a bit more overall ground cover and airtime.

60 Dressage combinations for 2024 Paris Olympics

unnamed-7.png

FEI PRESS RELEASE

IOC EB confirms all equestrian disciplines and quotas for Paris 2024

All three equestrian disciplines – Jumping, Dressage and Eventing – have been formally confirmed for the Paris 2024 Olympic programme. In addition, the six events – team and individual across each of the three disciplines – and the full quota of 200 athlete/horse combinations have also been endorsed.

News of the confirmation came during today’s International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board online meeting, at which the full programme for Paris 2024 was formally approved. Individual International Federations were also provided with details of the event programme and athlete quotas for their sport in an official letter from IOC Director General Christophe De Kepper.

The ratification means that equestrian will keep its quota of 75 athlete/horse combinations for Jumping, 65 for Eventing and 60 for Dressage.

“We are very happy to receive formal approval of our three disciplines for Paris 2024 from the IOC Executive Board and also confirmation that our athlete quota remains untouched at 200”, FEI President and IOC Member Ingmar De Vos said.

“This confirmation is also a token of appreciation for the efforts the FEI and the equestrian community have made to increase the fan base and improve digital figures for our sport. We really appreciate that the IOC didn’t touch our quota as we knew they needed to reduce the overall Games-wide quota to 10,500 athletes, but our sport has grown so much over the last decade that a reduction of our quota would have been detrimental to the universality of our Olympic competitions.”

The equestrian events will be staged in the grounds of Versailles, with King Louis XIV’s Palace as a stunning backdrop at one of the French capital’s most iconic Games time venues. The UNESCO World Heritage Site will also be the site for Modern Pentathlon.

Full details of the Paris 2024 event programme were publicly announced at a press conference with the IOC President today. The IOC press release is available on www.olympic.org.
