Impressive Grand Prix debut

Not every day you pass a post with a high quality 76% Grand Prix debut, and from watching the test H2R got curious to know a bit more about the journey with the 12 year old mare Elvive by Tuschinski / Blue Hors Don Schufro (out of the dam Adonnee de Jeu) with international Australian Grand Prix rider Lyndal Oatley.

“I was so proud of her for so many reasons. I have had Ellie since she was 7 we tried her and she clearly had good paces. Patrik tried her in piaffe and immediately said buy her! Thankfully mum and dad are so supportive and we had been looking for some time and saw her potential she could reach with time and training.

We made our small tour debut at the end October 2017 which she won. A few months after that we were lucky enough to be expecting Emilia and so Patrik was happy to take over and competed her at Cappelen in inter II and she won there with over 75.

Emilia entered the world and when I was cleared to get back in the saddle. Unfortunately Ellie tripped with Patrik in the warm up an got injured. Luckily we got back on track thanks to our team here, Marc Suls and his team at Via Nova equine and mega Farrier Steven Ruiter we really found a way forward and haven’t looked back and has been top fit for a very long time now.

Then corona joined the world and again we had to step back from the competition world just when we were ready to get out there. After many cancelled shows we finally got to ride yesterday and I was just thrilled!

She is amazing and so talented and I am just so lucky to ride her! She is a one in million 😍,” tell Lyndal.

No licensing of stallions at Vilhelmsborg

IMG_1096.jpg

Due to the authorities' lack of feedback with approval of this year's licensing of stallions at Vilhelmsborg, and in addition the prevailing equine herpesvirus in Southern Europe, Danish Warmblood has consequently cancelled the selection of stallions at Vilhelmsborg. Instead, the selection will be conducted as a selection tour at various locations in week 11

Already in the autumn of 2020, it has been evident due to the COVID-19 situation that one of the world's largest stallion events for four decades, the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing, would not be able to take place in 2021 in its usual format in MCH Messecenter Herning with thousands of visitors in week 10.

Therefore, a much smaller event was sketched to be held without audience and cut right to the bone with a professional settlement of the actual selection of stallions which was to take place in week 11 at Vilhelmsborg. However, Danish Warmblood has not succeeded in getting a response from the responsible authorities regarding approval of the outlined event, despite many written inquiries focusing on a streaming setup behind closed doors.

The prevailing equine herpesvirus which is currently raging at an international equestrian competition in Valencia, Spain, has led the International Equestrian Federation FEI to issue a European competition ban until 28 March. For that reason alone, it is inconceivable that the foreign stallions that are enrolled for the licensing will show up in Denmark.

Therefore, Danish Warmblood is bringing plan B into play. In January, the licensing committee travelled around the country to pre-inspect stallions for the licensing. The licensing will now be conducted in the same way in week 11.

The licensing committee – the jumping committee and the dressage committee, respectively – will visit designated locations (where the stallions are situated) to assess the stallions in a procedure equivalent to a normal stallion licensing, and the stallions will be filmed and photographed as usually.

Once all stallions have been inspected, the stallion owners will be informed about the licensing verdict which will be published on the Danish Warmblood website where video recordings of all stallions will also be made available. An online press conference for the international press will then be held.

– All aspects come into play during this difficult time, but our consideration for the stallion keepers and the health of the stallions counts the most. We have now been waiting for almost four weeks for a response from the Danish authorities as to whether we can legally conduct the licensing behind closed doors with a large streaming setup, but without a concrete decision we cannot drag it any further. The decision to completely cancel a gathering of numerous stallions was made after closely having followed the situation of the equine herpesvirus outbreak with epicentre in Valencia. We are very sorry to have to make this decision, but times are very challenging, and we have become accustomed to acting in the short term. The licensing committee looks forward to viewing the stallions in week 11, and we promise to provide good footage of the stallions, so that you can still follow the licensing from your homes, although in a different format than desired, concludes Casper Cassøe, director of Danish Warmblood.

All stallion owners will be notified about the final conduction of the selection which will take place in week 11 behind closed doors.

The breeding management will select the stallions at designated locations around the country.

FEI cancels European mainland events due to EHV-1 (neurological form)

FEI PRESS RELEASE

public.jpeg

FEI cancels European mainland events due to EHV-1 (neurological form)

The FEI has cancelled international events in 10 countries on the European mainland with immediate effect and until 28 March 2021 due to the rapid evolution of a very aggressive strain of the neurological form of Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1), which originated in Valencia (ESP) and has already resulted in related outbreaks in at least three other countries in Europe.

This decision applies to all FEI disciplines, but in order to prevent huge numbers of horses simultaneously departing the Jumping Tours on the Iberian Peninsula, in Italy and Belgium that have been ongoing for a number of weeks, these specific Tours will be allowed to continue as individual “bubbles” on the condition that absolutely no new horses are allowed to enter the venues and no positive cases of EHV-1 are confirmed.

The Jumping Tour venues in Vejer de la Frontera (ESP), Vilamoura (POR), San Giovanni in Marignano (ITA) and Gorla Minore (ITA) will have stringent biosecurity protocols in place and additional FEI Veterinary Delegates onsite. Horses will only be permitted to leave these venues when they are in possession of an official health certificate from the local Veterinary Authorities. Any horses leaving these venues without this documentation will be blocked on the FEI Database. It is also illegal to transport a horse without an official health certificate.

Oliva Nova (ESP) had already advised the FEI this afternoon that it has decided to cancel the rest of its scheduled competitions in the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour III. Opglabbeek (BEL) has also informed the FEI that it has cancelled its events in March.

The decision, which covers events in France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Poland, Netherlands, Germany and Slovakia, has been made in accordance with FEI General Regulations Article 112.3, which state: The Secretary General shall have the authority to remove any Competition and/or Event from the Calendar if justified circumstances relating to a Competition or the Event are established.

“This was not an easy decision to block events in mainland Europe, particularly after the major disruption to the FEI Calendar caused by the Covid-19 pandemic”, FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez said, “but this EHV-1 outbreak is probably the most serious we have had in Europe for many decades and our decision is based on clearly identified epidemiological risk factors.

“This strain of EHV-1 is particularly aggressive and has already caused equine fatalities and a very large number of severe clinical cases. We need to keep our horses safe.

“We are also aware that a large number of horses left the venue in Valencia without an official health certificate, meaning they had an unknown health status. Some horses were already sick, and the risk of transmission from these horses is a major concern.

“Cancelling these competitions in mainland Europe, with the exception of the ongoing Jumping Tours in the Iberian Peninsula and Italy, limits the number of horses travelling internationally and therefore reduces the likelihood of this very serious virus being transmitted on an increasingly wider scale. We also strongly recommend that the affected member Federations should also cancel their national events.

“We are very conscious of the fact that this is a very stressful and distressing time, and that this is potentially hugely disruptive for those athletes aiming for their Minimum Eligibility Requirements (MERs) or confirmation results for Tokyo, but we are looking at ways to alleviate that in order to assist athlete/horse combinations in getting their MERs or confirmation results once the events in mainland Europe are allowed to resume.”

The FEI is conscious that some athletes have already arrived on competition venues or are en route, and is directly contacting all impacted athletes entered in Events between now and 28 March 2021.

Retirement at the top

19 year old Damsey FRH by Dressage Royal / Ritual with Helen Langehanenberg has this weekend at the CDI5 been retired from international competition. Since 2016 Damsey and Langehanenberg has been a very solid combination at the international scene always with top placements and finishing at 9th place by end of January at the World Ranking.

69 international starts since April 2016

Langehanenberg took over the reins back I 2016 from Steffen Frahm only starting Damsey at 7 Grand Prix starts from the international debut back in 2013. From following the combination at that time it was definitely not in the cards that tiny Langehanenberg would be able to both develop and bring the stallion on her side to the very top level.

Very few international top horses are retired when they still look as fit as Damsey, despite lacking more suppleness for the trot half passes, the angles and activity for piaffe and passage tours, the sit and quality for the canter pirouettes and not least the suppleness for his outstanding walk was still at absolute top level for their final dance. Damsey and Helen will for sure be part of the international dressage history.

Enjoy their final international Grand Prix freestyle from Doha here below.

VIDEOS - Presentation of 66 stallions from Helgstrand & Schockemöhle

Impressive list of stallions with a huge range of different pedigree where you for sure have the possibility to find your favourites.

Here you find H2R favourite stallions from yesterday’s presentation.

“Stallion of the Year”

The 4 year old stallion Iron by Asgard´s Ibiza / Hohenstein was the absolute highlight of the day. He is a modern expressive stallion, with a lovely front, strong top line and sharp hindlegs, and he shows three really smooth quality gaits always active and well balanced in a natural frame with super nice contact. From H2R point of view Iron was “Stallion of the Year” at yesterday’s Helgstrand / Schockmöhle online stallion show. Video

Impressive development

We’ve already seen the first foals foal from 5 yr old Fynch Hatton OLD by Formel Eins / Sir Donnerhall (video), 5 yr old Vivino by Vivaldi / Dancier (video) and 7 yr old Valverde by Vitalis / Ampere, and from H2R point of view both Fynch Hatton and Valverde as individuals has proved themselves, both showing really impressive development, while the long legged Vivino now 5 yr old clearly needed the time to develop his body and strength (like most Vivaldi offsprings) but now really starting to show his top qualities under the rider.

The important walk

Valverde by Vitalis / Ampere shows great qualities, lots of power and abilities for the big sport, and not least one of the stallions with the best walk, through the body, over the back with freedom, activity and nice over track and not to big. A top horse need three top gaits! Video

The new young ones

  • For Real by Blue Hors Farrell / Lord Loxley absolute H2R highlight from Westfalian licensing, and now also showing his top qualities under the rider. Video

  • Zico by Blue Hors Zackerey / Tomahawk, beautiful model and showing huge potential in his gaits under the rider. Video

  • Lordswood Bernstein SL by Bonds / Quaterback, modern open framed young stallion with lots of suppleness. A real Bonds son. Video

On their way towards Grand Prix

  • 9 yr old Total Hope OLD by Totilas / Blue Hors Don Schufro - Inter II debut as 8 yr old and recently with German national Inter II victory at 77,6%.

  • 8 yr old Revolution by Rocky Lee / Rouletto - schooling all Grand Prix exercises with super qualities. Video

  • 7 yr old Jovian by Apache / Tango - shows talent and abilities for the highest level. Video

Proved their qualities in the breeding

Both Vitalis and Fürstenball OLD does not need any further comments they already proven themselves in the breeding.

Velforberedt avler webinar I region 4 "Opstart - kom godt fra start"

Screen Shot 2021-02-24 at 19.34.29.png

This time the very expressive and light-footed 10 year old Westfalian mare Valencia As by Vitalis / Hotline. The overall impression is powerful with lightness and super qualities, yet the walk still need a bit more suppleness as it gets a bit tense and unbalanced for some moments.

Fabienne also came 3rd with her other Vitalis offspring the gelding Valesco.

Unfortunately Fabienne and Valencia As were disqualified during the Inter II test Saturday as Valencia bite herself during the test.
