Herzlake a very important and successful competition for Danish Cathrine Dufour

Today Dufour and Bohemian showed another top test

A Grand Prix Special rewarded with “just” 82,064%. Impressive score but very impressive performance, and watching the detailed scoring there were from H2R point of view clearly missing some 9´s for ex. the centerline with pirouettes and one time changes - this line was a clear 9 mark line. Piaffe tours were at the spot with maximum steps, well balanced transitions, super passage, and the final centerline where Bohemian shows super power supple passage. This test was more like a 85% test.

It´s not always just about the scores

For Danish Cathrine Dufour this event was definitely not at the planned schedule before the Olympics but the circumstances after the “exit” from the 2nd day at Compiégne where Bohemian became tense and very insecure going into the arena and not entering the centerline became a whole new challenge, not just for Cathrine Dufour herself but also for the entire final preparation for the team towards the Olympics.

The team trainer and also personal trainer for Dufour Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, made a quick a clear decision - they needed a “test competition” more before the Olympics and therefore Herzlake was scheduled for Cathrine Dufour, Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Lone Bang Larsen.

Metal coach Rasmus Bagger part of the team in Herzlake

For the sharp viewers a male person was standing at the arena next to trainer Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein when Dufour and Bohemian entered the arena. Mental coach Rasmus Bagger has been working with Cathrine Dufour since she was 12 years old and he was this weekend also a part the team for this particularly event to coach and support Cathrine Dufour.

As Cathrine describes the situation after Compiégne it has been three weeks with hard work “recovering” from the experience at Compiégne for both her and Bohemian.

“For the past two weeks I´ve had some sessions together with Rasmus Bagger guiding me to take back the “leadership” when riding Bohemian after our competition at Compiégne where he got frighten and insecure.

We’ve been taking about my body language and how I can make Bohemian secure again, and for sure it has also been about myself. So this weekend with Rasmus Bagger at the sideline was about bringing the theory together with the practice, and we have also been training together at home before this weekend. I really feel that my body language tells something totally different now, as I now realise that for the last few competitions there has been some issues and instead of facing the facts I was kind of avoiding “the problems” hoping for the best and thinking hopefully I can manage.

It´s been a very valuable help as this part is also very mentally related and about keeping yourself forward thinking and up towards the Olympics. I leaned a lot mentally the last weeks and it´s been very very exciting and I feel really well prepared towards the Olympics now”, tells Cathrine Dufour.

Big relief for Danish Dufour with Bohemian today in Herzlake

IMG_0637-3.jpg

Mission complete

From a very difficult competition at Compiégne where Bohemian became very tense and Cathrine was not able to enter the arena for the Grand Prix Special, today’s goal was clear - to get Bohemian back on track.

And from the very first step to the final halt Bohemian was fully focused and did not show a single wrong step. Effortless, expressive and powerful like we’ve seen them so many times in the past.

Super halt, power diagonal, supple half passes with good crossing, superb halt with rein back, power diagonal, WOW passage/piaffe/passage and transitions spot on, super relaxation for extended walk, super collected walk tour, 15 at the spot piaffe steps, super passage, nice into canter, super 2 times, power extended canter, good zigzag becomes bit hind vertical, super 1 times, controlled 1st pirouette, super 2nd pirouette, super into trot at M, good diagonal, super power final centerline, super halt. 80,348%

For both Cathrine and the Danish national coach Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein it was a big relief and a very happy moment This was the most import ride for Dufour in a very long time, as she has been and is the anchorman at the Danish team, and it would be more like a nightmare if the national coach and the team to disregard from their appearance at the national team for the Olympics.

From H2R point of view Daniel Bachmann Andersen knocking at door for the reserve spot for the Olympics with Marshall-Bell even though they still need more kilometers at the competition arena.

Good halt, good power for diagonal, good crossing half pass right, lack bit carriage left, unbalanced halt with rein back, good diagonal, bit tense hind for passage, lack bit more energy for 1st piaffe, could show bit better flow for transitions, good walk tour, nice and easy 2nd piaffe in good balance well balanced transitions, good into canter, nice 2 times, good extended canter, bit unbalanced zigzag, good 1 times, lack bit balance for 1st pirouette, 2nd better control and balance, bit unbalanced hind for diagonal, good final centerline, nice halt. 72,826%

Daniel and Fanalino took the final placement today - Bit unbalanced halt, well balanced diagonal, nice swing half passes lack bit more bending, bit hurried rein back, power diagonal, good passage, nice active piaffe bit unbalanced out small unbalance turning of passage, good walk tour, nice 2nd piaffe tour, nice 2 times, good extended canter, good zigzag, ok 1 times bit tense, 1st pirouette need more sit, 2nd need bit more control, good diagonal, some resistance for final piaffe, good passage, nice halt.

Only 10 points behind were Lone Bang Larsen with Thranegaardens Rostov. A very honest mare in the arena only lacking bit more routine for the Grand Prix. Super halt, power diagonal, power crossing uphill flow half passes, good halt with bit resistance for rein back, power balance for diagonal, good into passage, bit tense hind for piaffe and bit tense for transition out, super relaxed exetended walk nice collected walk, bit forward 2nd piaffe lack a bit of energy, good into canter, nice 2 time jumps bit to left, power extended canter, super balance for zigzag, small error mid 1 times, good 1st pirouette bit big, lost balance 2nd pirouette, good final diagonal, nice final centerline.

Well Done de la Roche and Patrik Kittel with super strong performance today at Le Mans

Well Done.jpg

It´s getting closer

Presumeably the Swedish team trainer Bo Jenå will make his decision for the Swedish Olympic team after this weekends competition.

Patrik Kittel is the anchorman at the Swedish team and with Well Done de la Roche he shows consistency and quality +75% tests, while also Antonia Ramel with Brother de Jeu delivers each time. About Buriel KH with Juliette Ramel they show some awesome piaffe and passage work, but for some moment the lack of balance and control does not make the perfect picture. Therese Nilshagen and Dante Weltino shows also consistency eventhough they are not scoring that impressive, and still misses a bit more clear transitions in and out of piaffe, some tensions hind for passage today and lost of balance for final pirouette.

From the sideline Jeanna Högberg with experienced Lorenzo look like the perfect match for the Olympics.
