Don't leave anything for Werth - she will definitely go for the victory
Never underestimate Isabell Werth
Final test of the Dutch team candidates before the Olympics at CHIO Rotterdam this weekend. And with 4 solid performances the Dutch team brought themselves into leading position for the team competitions, but the individual winner today was a Germany´s Isabell Werth with her 16 year old Weihegold OLD.
Today’s performance from Werth was really strong and also for the not so flashy parts the trot extensions and half passes Werth showed Weihegold in the best way by keeping her maximum balance and expression.
Weihegold OLD / Isabell Werth - Good halt, good diagonal, good half passes missing bit more carriage, nice halt with rein back, good diagonal, nice into passage off the ground, tiny tension out of nice piaffe, could show more over the back extended walk, good collected walk, sharp into passage, good piaffe at the spot at begin bit better sit than at the end, good transition to canter, nice big 2 times, super extended canter, well balanced zigzag, does not take the aid at first but successful 15 one times, superb quality pirouettes, nice into trot, good diagonal, WOW passage, super piaffe and transitions, super halt. Very nice test!
The favorite today at home soil Edward Gal with Glock´s Toto US showed a nice balanced test, but unfortunately with some extra flying changes today.
Glock´s Total US / Edward Gal - Good halt, nice expressive balanced diagonal, huge crossing uphill half passes, nice supple in the body at left, super halt with rein back, super diagonal, nice passage off the ground, small tensions hind for active piaffe at the spot, super passage, active extended walk, super quality of the walk, small tension into passage, some tensions hind 2nd piaffe, super passage, nice into canter, nice 2 times, super diagonal extended canter, error end of zigzag (extra flying changes), tense before starting one times, bit short in the neck, extra change after 1st pirouette, super nice 2nd pirouette, power diagonal, super passage, good piaffe small tension out.
Glock´s Dream Boy N.O.P. / Hans Peter Minderhoud - Nice halt, power diagonal, nice supple half passes with good crossing, good halt bit cautious rein back, good diagonal, nice into passage, nice expressive passage, good activity for piaffe and smooth transitions, good into walk, nice extended walk, bit tense for collected walk, nice into passage, good 2nd piaffe, super timing, nice into canter, small error 2 times, good extended canter, well balanced zigzag huge side ways, good 1 times, WOW 2nd pirouette balance and super control with sit and clear canter, good diagonal, strong final centerline.
Hermes / Dijna van Liere - Super halt, good balance for diagonal, lack bit more uphill half pass right, nice balance uphill left, good halt with rein back, good into passage, bit tense hind passage, active at the spot piaffe, nice transitions, super relaxed extended walk, good collected walk, nice 2nd piaffe with good transitions, tiny tension into canter, good 2 times, good extended canter, nice bending bit tension but well managed, super nice 1 times, good pirouettes with bending and sit, super diagonal, very nice and active final centerline, open halt. THEY are definitely also ready for the Olympics.
For the clear reserve combination for the Olympics Marlies van Baalen and Go Legend shows another strong and consistent performance today.
Saturday the team competition will be completed with Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix freestyle.

VIDEOS - extra observation event for Danish young horses for World Championships in Verden
Yesterday and today with extra observation tests for potential candidates for WCYH in Verden
Due to the very tight schedule this year the planned observations dates 13 & 14 July at Vilhelmsborg unfortunately were at the same time as Falsterbo Horse Show and the selection commission were ready with extra dates this weekend for combinations or riders going to Falsterbo Horse Show.
It was a small group of horses but nevertheless some very interesting candidates.
From H2R point of view two very clear candidates:
6 year old Sweetnes by Blue Hors St. Schufro / Tailormade Lancelot ridden by Silje Bakken and bred by Lisbeth B. Andersen
And by the 7 year old candidates Atterupgaards Cooper by Charmeur / Gribaldi ridden by young Sara Aagaard Hyrm and bred by Stud Atterupgaard also showed a strong and high quality performance.
Candidates at start this weekend at Blue Hors:
Intermediaire I sejr til Anders Hoeck med Blue Hors Zwobber
Toppen af dagens Intermediaire I med god ridning og god kvalitet.
Lidt indtryk fra hver enkelt ekvipage:
UNO Day Sun - flyende tur i god balance med godt udtryk og god form, gode serier, mister balance i 2. pirouette.
Svalegårds Dear One - korrekt tur uden tekniske fejl, den samlede skridt bliver lidt spændt. Generelt virker kontakten lidt forholdt hele vejen.
Sullivan - flotte øgninger, spændt tilbagetræning, mangler lidt mere afspændthed i skridtturen, spænder i changementer, mangler lidt mere kontrol og balance i begge pirouetter.
Baunehøjens Carpaccio - god travtur, momentvis lidt dyb i formen, lidt spændt tilbagetrædning, lidt kort i skridten ønskes mangler lidt mere afspændthed over ryggen, pirouetter med fin kontrol, god serier.
Fabius - god power i traven men mangler generelt lidt mere kontrol pg bliver momentvis uens bagi, lidt kort i skridten, pirouetterne mangler mere forberedelse og kontrol, lidt spændte serier.
Søren Pedder - dejligt udtryk og power desværre momentvis lidt store øjne, spændt og kort skridt tur, tekniske spændingsudfordringer i galopturen.
Carlton Hill VDL - ikke startet
Højvangs Unik - lidt hektisk travtur, god skridttur, der indløber fejl i 2er serien.

VIDEO - So many 10´s for top 3 today at Kronberg
Bella Rose, Showtime and Dalera - team Germany without any discussion
Top qualities worth top scores but towards the Olympics the international judges also seems to be kind of extra positive as the 10´s sometimes are getting a bit to easy at the scoreboard.
For the first piaffe tour for Werth today this was not a clear 10 as Bella Rose started out a bit looking but after a few steps she was fully focused at the job. Christoph Umbach judge at C today was the only one just rewarding 2 x 10 for the transitions and also finishing at 82.500%. Also for extended walk Umbach was at the best level with a 6,0 as you don’t need to be an expert to see that the rhythm is far from clear and actually at a level more around 5,0. The one times today are just executed by the master herself as Bella Rose becomes quite tense but Werth manage without errors.
Showtime and Schneider were showing a strong test, their piaffe tours are not fully at the spot, like also their series are with some tensions today.
Dalera has to go to the toilet for the first half pass to the right and loosing the trot and forward search and after the extended canter the flying change are not totally clean, also their series are with tensions, but still manage to finish +81%.
Here you find the entire results with detailed scores.

Herzlake a very important and successful competition for Danish Cathrine Dufour
Cathrine Dufour winner of both CDI3 Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special at Herzlake, Germany - photo credit: EQWO.net / Petra Kerschbaum
Today Dufour and Bohemian showed another top test
A Grand Prix Special rewarded with “just” 82,064%. Impressive score but very impressive performance, and watching the detailed scoring there were from H2R point of view clearly missing some 9´s for ex. the centerline with pirouettes and one time changes - this line was a clear 9 mark line. Piaffe tours were at the spot with maximum steps, well balanced transitions, super passage, and the final centerline where Bohemian shows super power supple passage. This test was more like a 85% test.
It´s not always just about the scores
For Danish Cathrine Dufour this event was definitely not at the planned schedule before the Olympics but the circumstances after the “exit” from the 2nd day at Compiégne where Bohemian became tense and very insecure going into the arena and not entering the centerline became a whole new challenge, not just for Cathrine Dufour herself but also for the entire final preparation for the team towards the Olympics.
The team trainer and also personal trainer for Dufour Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, made a quick a clear decision - they needed a “test competition” more before the Olympics and therefore Herzlake was scheduled for Cathrine Dufour, Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Lone Bang Larsen.
Metal coach Rasmus Bagger part of the team in Herzlake
For the sharp viewers a male person was standing at the arena next to trainer Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein when Dufour and Bohemian entered the arena. Mental coach Rasmus Bagger has been working with Cathrine Dufour since she was 12 years old and he was this weekend also a part the team for this particularly event to coach and support Cathrine Dufour.
As Cathrine describes the situation after Compiégne it has been three weeks with hard work “recovering” from the experience at Compiégne for both her and Bohemian.
“For the past two weeks I´ve had some sessions together with Rasmus Bagger guiding me to take back the “leadership” when riding Bohemian after our competition at Compiégne where he got frighten and insecure.
We’ve been taking about my body language and how I can make Bohemian secure again, and for sure it has also been about myself. So this weekend with Rasmus Bagger at the sideline was about bringing the theory together with the practice, and we have also been training together at home before this weekend. I really feel that my body language tells something totally different now, as I now realise that for the last few competitions there has been some issues and instead of facing the facts I was kind of avoiding “the problems” hoping for the best and thinking hopefully I can manage.
It´s been a very valuable help as this part is also very mentally related and about keeping yourself forward thinking and up towards the Olympics. I leaned a lot mentally the last weeks and it´s been very very exciting and I feel really well prepared towards the Olympics now”, tells Cathrine Dufour.

Big relief for Danish Dufour with Bohemian today in Herzlake
Mission complete
From a very difficult competition at Compiégne where Bohemian became very tense and Cathrine was not able to enter the arena for the Grand Prix Special, today’s goal was clear - to get Bohemian back on track.
And from the very first step to the final halt Bohemian was fully focused and did not show a single wrong step. Effortless, expressive and powerful like we’ve seen them so many times in the past.
Super halt, power diagonal, supple half passes with good crossing, superb halt with rein back, power diagonal, WOW passage/piaffe/passage and transitions spot on, super relaxation for extended walk, super collected walk tour, 15 at the spot piaffe steps, super passage, nice into canter, super 2 times, power extended canter, good zigzag becomes bit hind vertical, super 1 times, controlled 1st pirouette, super 2nd pirouette, super into trot at M, good diagonal, super power final centerline, super halt. 80,348%
For both Cathrine and the Danish national coach Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein it was a big relief and a very happy moment This was the most import ride for Dufour in a very long time, as she has been and is the anchorman at the Danish team, and it would be more like a nightmare if the national coach and the team to disregard from their appearance at the national team for the Olympics.
From H2R point of view Daniel Bachmann Andersen knocking at door for the reserve spot for the Olympics with Marshall-Bell even though they still need more kilometers at the competition arena.
Good halt, good power for diagonal, good crossing half pass right, lack bit carriage left, unbalanced halt with rein back, good diagonal, bit tense hind for passage, lack bit more energy for 1st piaffe, could show bit better flow for transitions, good walk tour, nice and easy 2nd piaffe in good balance well balanced transitions, good into canter, nice 2 times, good extended canter, bit unbalanced zigzag, good 1 times, lack bit balance for 1st pirouette, 2nd better control and balance, bit unbalanced hind for diagonal, good final centerline, nice halt. 72,826%
Daniel and Fanalino took the final placement today - Bit unbalanced halt, well balanced diagonal, nice swing half passes lack bit more bending, bit hurried rein back, power diagonal, good passage, nice active piaffe bit unbalanced out small unbalance turning of passage, good walk tour, nice 2nd piaffe tour, nice 2 times, good extended canter, good zigzag, ok 1 times bit tense, 1st pirouette need more sit, 2nd need bit more control, good diagonal, some resistance for final piaffe, good passage, nice halt.
Only 10 points behind were Lone Bang Larsen with Thranegaardens Rostov. A very honest mare in the arena only lacking bit more routine for the Grand Prix. Super halt, power diagonal, power crossing uphill flow half passes, good halt with bit resistance for rein back, power balance for diagonal, good into passage, bit tense hind for piaffe and bit tense for transition out, super relaxed exetended walk nice collected walk, bit forward 2nd piaffe lack a bit of energy, good into canter, nice 2 time jumps bit to left, power extended canter, super balance for zigzag, small error mid 1 times, good 1st pirouette bit big, lost balance 2nd pirouette, good final diagonal, nice final centerline.
