Focus horses for Blue Hors Autumn Auction

Have you checked out the collection for Blue Hors Autumn Auction?

The demand for good quality riding horses has increased during the last couple of years.

Danish Stud Blue Hors does alway have a huge range of horses at different education level and is now for the first time with Blue Hors Autumn Auction offering 12 selected young horses for sale.

If you haven’t already tried out your favourite horses you still have the possibility - just contact the team for an appointment.

Pre-bidding starts Thursday 11 November and the auction takes place Saturday 13 November at 8 pm LIVE at Blue Hors.

Focus horses:

As a 4-year-old, the black Westphalian gelding Sir Helmut trotted himself into a nice 2’nd place at the qualifier for the DRF and PAVO young horse championships in dressage with a score of 90.8 points. With a ridability score of 9.3 and a 9.2 in both capacity and trot, there is no doubt that Sir Helmut is a horse for the future with the potential to go all the way!
This long-legged Sir Donnerhall/Benneton Dream-son is bred by Jaqueline Tenambergen, and with his beautiful coat and outstanding markings, Sir Helmut is a unique horse for the sport. This, combined with his high rideability-level and equally high overall quality, makes him a truly functional and talented horse, who we all are eager to watch unfold even further!

The breathtaking, dark-coated gelding; Giccolo, is by the Gribaldi-son Gray Flannel, who is currently active in Grand Prix-dressage under German rider Lena Waldmann. The dam-line behind Giccolo, is led on by Giccolo's mother; the Fürst Piccolo/Landadel-daughter Felicity, who is the product of several main studbook mares and B-horses in dressage. A family tree that really emphasizes the young Giccolo’s huge talent for dressage.
Giccolo is always willing and ready to work and possess elegance, elasticity and quality in all three of his gaits. His trot is extremely spacious and adjustable and his canter is with lots of uphill-tendency, which combined with his personality makes him a high-quality dressage horse.

The Swedish warmblood gelding Vanzetti is a horse that works with great potential and lots of talent. This bay superstar is bred by Niklas Samuelsson and is sired by the Grand Prix-stallion Blue Hors Veneziano, who won Louisdor-Preis as an 8-year old. Vanzetti carries yet another Grand Prix-stallion as his dam-sire in Swedish Rose Mathisen’s top-stallion; Zuidenwind, who was most recently placed as number 4 in a four-starred Grand Prix in Achleiten 2021 with his Japanese rider Akane Kuroki. In third generation is the Hanoverian Premium Stallion Figaro R, who had a glorious breeding career in Sweden and who was also trained for the Grand Prix by Rose Mathisen. With these stallions is his bloodlines, this Veneziano-son for sure carries a lot of implied talent for the sport. Performative bloodlines with lots of Grand Prix; Vanzetti!

HANN licensing with 6 Premium stallions and 31 licensed stallions

38 by Fürst Belissaro / San Remo

6 Premium Stallions

With no 38 by Fürst Belissaro / San Remo this years “Champion” stallion from H2R point of view. Super supple presentations, very well balanced both from movements but also mentally.

No 3 Bon Coeur / Carabas - supple mover, but could wish for a bit more under the gravity push from behind.

No 19 Escamillo / De Niro - super model and active off the ground. For the lunging part he was missing bit more self carriage and balance for the trot.

No 26 Escolar / Sir Donnerhall - lovely balance and rhythm by lunging every step with power and elasticity.

No 32 For Dance / Dagostini - super model with power - presented by Blue Hors and will for the season be available via Landgestüt Warendorf. (Video below)

No 63 Totilas / Danciano - well balanced with good power - missing bit more length on the neck.

Among the huge collection of licensed stallions the well moving and expressive no 27 by Escolar / Sir Donnerhall I likewise no 42 by La Vie / Bretton Woods from Blue Hors was clearly missing among the licensed stallions.

“We knew upfront that there was a lot of interest in Guinness and Noire NA. Guinnes, by Glamourdale, is a very striking black stallion who was sold to a Belgian show jumping stable that now also invests in dressage horses. They are now the new owner for not less than €130.000,-. Noire NA, by Painted Black, managed to keep the bidding going the longest and was sold for €80.000,-. Jack, the first horse in the auction was not sold, just as the stallions Depay and Irvin who will also stay in Den Hout. Mabel by Dettori, will go to an English stable and Mistral by Fiamingho will leave for Canada. The other horses have been sold to England and several other horses are sold to Dutch riders.”

FEI PRESS RELEASE - Werth steps back into the Lyon limelight

Corrections in Bold Italic

For the fifth time in a row, German supremo Isabell Werth won the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2021/2022 Western European League qualifier in Lyon, France tonight. And she did it with the 16-year-old mare Weihegold OLD with whom she claimed the last three series titles.

Twelfth to go in an exciting 15-strong field filled with many rising stars, the pair earned a score of 84.910 and that couldn’t be beaten. But Denmark’s Nanna Skodborg Merrald and Atterupgaards Orthilia came close when putting a personal-best 83.695 on the board for a test that oozed consistency and class.

This 16-year-old mare, formerly competed by Danish compatriot Agnete Kirk Thinggaard and before that by Great Britain’s Fiona Bigwood and before that again by Denmark’s Cathrine Dufour at Young Rider level, just keeps on giving and, in the hands of this talented 28-year-old Dane continues to thrive in the ring.

New series

Dufour, who has risen to the very top of the game and who won the first leg of the new series last weekend with her 18-year-old super-hero Atterupgaards Cassidy, competed the nine-year-old gelding Vamos Amigos this time around. And the young horse showed remarkable maturity in a test that included lovely passage/piaffe work to take the lead with 81.135 when the action resumed after the halfway break.

That proved good enough for fourth place at the end of the day, behind Werth at the head of affairs, Nanna Skodborg Merrald in second and Germany’s Frederic Wandres who slotted into third when last to go with Duke of Britain FRH.

Wandres has been enjoying a good year, collecting the maximum 20 points for a win at the Central European League leg in Samorin (SVK) in August which, when added to those collected at the first two legs on the Western European circuit, leaves him heading the league table going into the next qualifier in Madrid, Spain in a months’ time.

Currently Dufour lies second on the leaderboard ahead of The Netherlands’ Thamar Zweistra in third and Nanna Skodborg Merrald in fourth place. But there’s a long and winding road leading to the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final in Leipzig, Germany next April to which the top nine finishers on the Western European leaderboard will be invited.

Defending

Werth earned no points for her win today, as defending champion she is automatically qualified for the Final with a horse of her choice which must have competed in the Freestyle to Music in at least two qualifiers. But it looks like Weihegold won’t be the one fighting that fight in 2022.

The athlete who has collected a mountain of medals during her spectacular career said this evening that she was “super happy” with her horse but “not super happy with my own management! I made a mistake and she was then not as good as she can be!” Her self-criticism is one of the characteristics that has kept her at the very top of the game for so many years, always wanting to do better.

Outlining her plans for the coming months she said she would take Weihegold to the Top Ten dressage final in Stockholm, Sweden in November, and then to Frankfurt in December

"“for what will be her last show, because that’s where it all started!”

Isabell Werth (GER)

It was with Weihegold that her back-to-back run of victories at the Lyon qualifier began in 2016. Riding Emilio she won again in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and today Weihegold showed she can still do all the fancy footwork. The mare’s staggering record includes the FEI Dressage World Cup™ titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019 along with team gold and individual silver at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and five European gold medals.

Delighted

Meanwhile Nanna Skodborg Merrald was delighted to find herself in runner-up spot today. “I really like the pressure and it’s great to ride in front of an audience again after nearly two years without shows and the public”, said the 28-year-old who, partnering Blue Hors Zack, was a member of the fourth-placed Danish team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games this summer.

Winner Werth agreed with that. “The atmosphere here was great, it felt like we are nearly getting back to normal life, so well done to the Organising Committee for what they have done!”, she said.

And Show Director Sylvie Robert was very happy this evening. “We really suffered with no event for nearly two years, so it is a great achievement to be back and to have the crowd with us again this year!”, she said.

Nanna/Orhilia or Werth/Weihegold victory yesterday?

You can actually make some comparisons for the two mares Atterupgaards Orthlilia and Weihegold OLD as both mares are not big really movers but with high lights for the piaffe and passage tours.

When it comes to the details yesterday’s elasticity and regularity of the passage tours were clearly with surplus for Orthilia, also the extensions were in another league for Orthilia, piaffe tours with super sit and obedience and clock work transitions. Even though non of the mares has a strong walk the regularity and balance for Orthilia is obvious while Weihegold is struggling to keep the clear rhythm especially for the collected walk (camera angle from behind) shows that it is not a clear four beat walk.

Harmony and expression is in a league of it own for Atterupgaards Orthilia and Nanna Merrald and winners as also judges at E Francis Verbeek van Rooij (NED) saw the Danish combination yesterday. Judge at C Isabelle Judet (FRA) saw Werth and Merrald equal for the victory.

Issues

Nanna and Orthilia showed a minor error for two times with one change with parallel hind legs, while Isabell and Weihegold showed a weak collected walk tour, change issue at end of canter half passes and error for the one times.

Duke of Britain with Frederic Wandres clearly took advantage from countryman judge at B - Katrina Wüst and also judge at H - Dr. Jean-Michel Roudier (FRA) saw them ahead for Dufour. Might be a good idea to re-view the tests as it was obvious that Dufour was 3rd best in yesterday’s freestyle.

Judge for yourself here below where you can watch both Werth and Merrald tests.

Van Olst Sales - collection with "Dark Pearls"

Ready for the auction?

You still have the chance to sign up for Van Olst Sales auction starting tomorrow Friday 29 October and runs until 1 November.

16 young ridden horses are available among them 3 “Dark Pearls”

Mistral

This four-year-old gelding stands out for his balance, both in his functional and good gaits and in his character. Sire Fiamingho is a son of the German foundation stallion Fürstenball who is very populair in Oldenburg. The dam of Mistral is the performance mare Santana s. Haarlem who already gave three offspring that jumped 1.30 m or higher. Further in the dam line we see various dressage and jumping horses that are successful in the sport at national and international level.

Njaib

Noire NA

Another Painted Black offspring in this auction. Now combined with the mare Izzy Lady NA who descends from the very successful combination Lord Leatherdale and Negro. We also see this combination in the Olympic stallion Everdale, World Champion Glamourdale and the Grand Prix stallion Chippendale. The Negro daughter Milady, the great-granddam of Noire NA, is a full sister of the Grand Prix dressage horse Bailey, who is very successful under the saddle of Maxime van der Vlist.

Atterupgaards Orthilia and Danish Nanna Merrald in top of today's World Cup Grand Prix at Lyon

Atterupgaards Orthilia with rider Nanna Merrald and trainer Michael Søgaard - photo: private

World Cup short Grand Prix

Lyon is the 2nd leg of this World Cup season and the short Grand Prix test look like a very good choice and suits the World Cup series. It shows the importance of not doing any mistakes as there is no room for catching up later. Even though Werth and Weihegold showed a minor issue for the 2 two times, Werth just manage to “recover” and bring home another victory today.

Frederic Wandres and Duke of Britain showed another very consistent test without any technical issues.

“Podium” for Danish Nanna Merrald and Atterupgaards Orthilia

Blue Hors rider Nanna Merrald and 16 year old Atterupgaard Orthilia showed a really nice test without any technical issues. The overall picture is very harmonious, well balanced and expressive. Since the Europeans the contact has improved a lot and Nanna and Tille has now become a very solid Danish top combination.

Their performance was of course also congratulated by their fans on Facebook, where former owner and Olympic rider Fiona Bigwood wrote “AMAZING!!! well done!!!”

Good halt, well balanced expressive diagonal, nice crossing reach half pass left, lack tiny same quality right, superb halt with rein back, super into passage, clock work regularity, superb into piaffe, SUPER PIAFFE AT THE SPOT, smooth transitions, good relaxation for extended walk need more reach in the neck, super into canter, well balanced zigzag, super 2 times, super quality 1st pirouette, nice 1 times, nice balance 2nd pirouette, good diagonal nice change, super into trot, super final centerline, clear transitions, super halt. 75,342%

World Cup debut for Vamos Amigos and Cathrine Dufour

Lyon was the first very big show for 9 year old Vamos Amigos and he looked very comfortable and relaxed entering the big scene. Unfortunately and error for the zigzag today kept them out of the very top of the field.

Super halt, expressive super balanced diagonal, bit big eye short side, supple half pass left, good transition right superb, bit tense rein back, super passage of the ground, WOW piaffe at the spot active of the ground not tense, superb transitions, super into walk, super relaxed extended walk, super collected walk, nice transition to canter, bit low in the contact and error zigzag, nice 2 times, well balanced 1st pirouettte, super 1 times, nice 2nd pirouette well balanced, good diagonal superb change, nice into trot, superb final centerline, super halt. 73,895%

Millennium / Jazz - most beautiful model and supple boy. Look like a Champion.

Van Olst Sales ridden horses with quality and potential

Focus horses

This time Van Olst Sales presents a collection of young horses ready for their new rider. All horses are ridden and shows qualities and potential for the sport.

No 1 - Jack

Jack is a 7 year old gelding presented by Charlotte Fry. He shows great ride ability, good qualities and not least potential for the highest level. He will in a short time be ready for competition with his next rider at Prix St. Georg level.

The oldest horse in this auction is Negro's son Jack. As with many descendants of Negro, the real talents emerge during the collected work. This 7 year old gelding has no problem with the highest form of collection. The passage is like a clock and the piaffe is also present in good quality.

Jack's dam herself competed at Z1 level and she is also the dam of Jack's full brother, Esplendido AZ, who competes at Small Tour level.

No 11 - Pinot Noir - approved stallion

Super well balanced just 3 year old stallion showing lots of natural power, suppleness and expression.

Painted Black was himself at stud at Van Olst Horses and this Pinot Noir also comes from this successful period. His dam Honey D'Or competed at ZZ zwaar level and descends from Chippendale in combination with a German dam line that goes back to Sandro Hit. Pinot Noir has now been approved by the NRPS and has successfully completed his first saddle presentation.
