Top price colt Tophøjs Florian getting ready for the live presentation - photo: H2R

Blue Hors breeders were gathered together for two exciting days with young horses and foals at the annual Young Horse Championships and Foal Show.

Beautiful summer weather in the most beautiful surroundings at Blue Hors for this annual event.

Saturday with finals for the 3 year old and 4 year old horses followed by foal show with about 50 foals from Blue Hors stallions.

Photo: H2R

In the afternoon between the finals for Blue Hors foal show, Danish Warmblood foals for the auction were presented live at the outdoor arena.

From watching the presentation videos it is always super interestering to see the development of the foals. The common picture of the foal collection was pretty impressive at the live presentation. Very well moving, expressive foals, where non of the foals appeared to be characterized by growth, even though they were all well developed.

Top prices for the colts

Tophøjs Florian by Floriscount / Tailormade Temptation colt from Stutteri Tophøj did not disappoint. He took the top price at 40.000 euro and was sold to Blue Hors.

2nd most expensive was Jesti´s Dakota Dream by Dynamic Dream / Springbank II VH, sold for 29.500 euro to Norwegian Kristin Andresen. Dakota was also one of H2R top favorites from the presentation videos.

3rd best price was Worre´s Manu by Blue Hors Monte Carlo / Blue Hors Don Olymbrio sold for 20.000 euro. The colt really showed himself at the auction.

Most expensive filly and also H2R top filly was the very well moving and expressive Raspberry Pilekær by Jameson RS2 / Blue Hors Romanov sold to Canadian Vicky Lavoie for 17.000 euro.

Vicky Lavoie also recently purchased top foals at foreign auctions, and is already familiar with the qualities of Danish Warmblood horses, as she also back in 2020 purchased the top colt Valuable by Valverde / Sezuan, bred by Lena and Rasmus Dalsgaard at Helgstrand-Schockemöhle Online auction for 79.000 euro.

FEI PRESS RELEASE - All female-squad leads The Netherlands to victory in Rotterdam

Led by a strong all-female squad, The Netherlands enjoyed a victory on home soil at CHIO Rotterdam (NED), winning the FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ of The Netherlands Saturday in authoritative fashion.

Led by Chef d'Equipe Alex van Silfhout, the quartet of Lynne Maas (Eastpoint), Thamar Zweistra (Hexagon's Ich Weiss), Emmelie Scholtens (Indian Rock) and Dinja Van Liere (Hermes) seized command in the Grand Prix Special and drew away in the Grand Prix Freestyle to finish on a winning total of 25 points. The United States and Sweden finished on equal terms with 39 points, but the Americans received the silver medal by way of a tiebreaker based on Grand Prix results.

"The ladies had the right focus at the right moment. They did a super job. They showed here that, when it has to be done, they can do it."

Chef d'Equipe Alex van Silfhout (NED)

Van Liere and the exciting 10-year-old stallion Hermes delivered as team anchors, taking top honors in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special. Recording personal best scores in both the Grand Prix (79.739%) and Grand Prix Special (77.957%), the pair is tantalizingly close to the coveted 80 percent mark.

"Hermes felt great. He is in top form and just keeps getting better," Van Liere said. "If I can just improve on some tiny things, we should be able to get there."

In the Grand Prix Freestyle, The Netherlands dominated the podium to clinch the victory, with Scholtens and Zweistra finishing second and third, respectively. Both competing with 9-year-olds, the future for this squad appears incredibly bright, but there was even more to celebrate for Scholtens, who delivered a baby girl less than five months ago.

"I couldn't wait: It's fantastic to be able to compete in shows again," she said. "Indian Rock enjoyed having all the spectators. Before, he competed in stallion shows, so he's used to people clapping and the atmosphere. He was very relaxed tonight."

Sweden continues to lead the FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ standings with 26 points. Belgium sits second (17 points), with The Netherlands and France adjoint third (15).

Pre-bidding has started for Danish Warmblood foal auction

Best foal

Following the auction collections from the different breeding societies during this spring, Danish Warmblood can without doubt present the best colt so far.

The handsome boy Tophøjs Florian by Floriscount / Tailormade Temptation just shows the entire package. From first step, push from behind and uphill. Well balanced in all three gait and super expression - this boy will for sure be an outstanding top price winner for Saturday evening´s LIVE auction at Blue Hors.

Huge colt collection

Out of a total of 20 foals, 14 of them are colts. The overall qualities are very good, and combined with strong dam lines, the Danish Warmblood breeders prove their knowledge in order to produce attractive foals for the buyers.

H2R top 3 colts

With Tophøjs Florian in a league of his own, he is follow by Jestis Dakota Dream and Springsborgs Giampaolo at H2R top quality / price list.

H2R will be present at Blue Hors for the auction. Please feel free to contact me, if you need eyes on your favorite foals from the stable, on hard surface or some extra video.

Hermes and Dinja van Liere with an outstanding effortless CDIO5* Grand Prix on home soil in Rotterdam today

Hermes didn´t put a hoof wrong today

From start till end with a willing, effortless and high quality test from Dinja van Liere with her 10-year old Hermes. Dinja presents Hermes in a light and steady contact, super frame all the way, and able to adjust whenever needed, the only tiny thing for today´s test where some minor tensions hind for the passage tours.. The test was not a real wow test, but the flow and correctness was for a clear victory at 79,731% The Dutch judge at M - Mariette Sanders-van Gansewinkel saw their performance for 82,5%, as only judge rewarding with 3 x 10, while her collegues agreed on 78-79% level.

They definitely look ready for World Championships in Herning.

As runner up 14-year old Blue Hors Zepter and Patrik Kittel shows a very strong performance. Nice flow all the way, good trot tour, nice piaffes which could show a bit more activity but well balanced with good transitions, good walk tour, for the canter there are tiny moments where Zepter is missing bit more suppleness over the back, for the zigzag, begin of the 1 times and the first pirouette. The second pirouette is very well balanced with good sit and rhythm. 76,130%

American Ashley Holzer with 12 year old Valentine with an expressive trot tour, the first diagonal with a tiny lost of balance but very nice go, flow and uphill half passes, active passage bit tensions hind, lack tiny more impulsion into 1st piaffe which is a bit forward trending, good transition out into passage, clear walk, good into 2nd piaffe, active at the spot and nicely forward into passage again, very nice canter tour with good series and nice pirouettes - overall a test with positive go and flow. 72,957%

Nations Cup debut for Indian Rock with Emmelie Scholtens, showing a strong trot tour, supple with power and good flow, very expressive active passage showing lovely active knees and good from behind, good piaffe lacking bit more balance and well managed transitions. Good walk tour unfortunately a misunderstanding for the transition to passage, lot of potential for the piaffe with good sit still tiny forward trend, bit late transition to canter, more errors for the two times, good zigzag, lacking bit more control for the one times, well managed quality pirouettes and super nice final centerline. 72,783%

FEI PRESS RELEASE - Tree planting demonstrates World Championship commitment to sustainability

Mayor of Herning Dorthe West (third from left) with the CEO of Growing Trees Kim Nielsen (far left), and Herning 2022 Organising Committee Founders Jens Trabjerg and Casper Cassoe (far right) at the tree planting ceremony in the FEI World Championships Forest. Tree planting demonstrates World Championship commitment to sustainability

The first of 60,000 trees have been planted in the FEI World Championships Forest in Herning (DEN), as the city prepares to host the largest equestrian event ever on Danish soil.

Working closely with the local municipality, the Organising Committee of Herning2022 has created a number of green initiatives, including the planting of a forest on the outskirts of the city.

The sustainability goal of the Organising Committee is straightforward: for the World Championships to make a lasting contribution to the environment, while inspiring everyone involved to take greater responsibility for our planet.

“Forests have a significant positive environmental impact as they are habitats for animals, insects, and plants, and they capture and store atmospheric carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as the trees grow,” Herning2022 CEO of Sport Jens Trabjerg said.

“As every equestrian knows, conserving the environment is necessary for the continued practice of our sport. We want to show that major international sporting events like these World Championships, can make a positive difference.”

“Through our collaboration with Sport Event Denmark, we hope that other organisers and everyone involved in the organisation of such events will start to adopt a similar approach, and perhaps even our principles, as they carry out their work. The World Championship-Forest will be a lasting heritage for everyone who wants to come by and enjoy the many diverse forest experiences that this unique area will offer.”

A total of 60,000 trees will be planted in collaboration with the Growing Trees Network, a self-governing institution that grows new forests both in Denmark and abroad, with the help of public donations. Calculations show that the FEI World Championships Forest will sequester (capture and store) approximately 12,000 tons of CO2 over the next century.

The ECCO FEI World Championships Herning 2022 is set to host around 200,000 spectators and over 1,000 media representatives from 6 to 14 August 2022. It is estimated that approximately 200 million TV viewers will tune in to watch the Jumping, Dressage, Vaulting and Para Dressage competitions.

In addition to the FEI World Championships Forest, the Organising Committee will focus on reusing materials that will be rented where possible, and local riding facilities will receive equipment at the end of the Championships. The judges' towers will be made of recycled wood and will also be used for many years in other equestrian facilities. Foliage around these installations will be re-planted in the forest as much as possible at the end of event.

The Organisers have also created ‘Solution Square’, which is an area at the venue dedicated to Danish environmental technology and circular economy initiatives.

“Sustainability is about building long‑term value and sport events like the ECCO FEI World Championships in Herning are well placed to create a lasting legacy, not just for equestrian sport but also the local community,” FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez said.

“A change in mindset and attitude is necessary if we are to promote sustainable lifestyles, communities and technologies. And as Herning2022 is showing, the move from small, incremental steps to a bolder strategy for environmental sustainability helps to provide avenues for collaboration and development among local, regional and national stakeholders.

“The FEI World Championships Forest will be a beautiful legacy for the people of Herning, and will serve as a reminder of what can happen when all parties are willing to come together and work towards a common future.”

With environmental sustainability a priority for the FEI, the international governing body has worked towards the implementation of equestrian-specific reporting indexes and the creation of a comprehensive guide book for event organisers world-wide.

The FEI Sustainability Handbook for Event Organisers encourages event organisers to implement sustainability initiatives that help reduce the negative environmental impact of their events and create a positive social and economic legacy.

The FEI is also a signatory of the United Nations Climate Change Sports for Climate Action Framework which calls for parties to “undertake systematic efforts to promote greater environmental responsibility”.

In addition, the FEI has adopted a number of sustainability initiatives at its Headquarters in the Olympic Capital of Lausanne (SUI). The FEI head office is recognised as a "Minergie" certified building, a Swiss standard indicating low energy use, with a reduced energy consumption of 25 per cent. When the Headquarters were refurbished in 2011, only two per cent of renovated buildings in Switzerland met these standards. Increased recycling and staff training have also featured in the FEI's Green Office project.

VIDEOS - Danish combinations took the podium for today´s CDI3* Grand Prix at Hagen

With a starter field of 40 combinations today´s top 3 were pure Danish.

Helgstrand showed his two 8 year old horses in order to obtain their final qualification for World Championships in Herning, likewise Daniel Bachmann Andersen and 10 year old Zippo M.I. also went for their final qualification for Herning.

Daniel is of course already qualified with Marshall-Ball and will be his first choice for the Championships.

Lots of qualities for all 3 Danish combinations

For the two young ones you can of course still see that they are lacking some more strength for the demanding Grand Prix. For Wendy the passage becomes somewhat swinging, while the piaffe still need a bit more clear coordination of the beat front and hind, and her one time changes missing bit bigger jump and through from behind. For both the pirouettes and the piaffe tours Jovian drops his neck and becomes clearly behind the vertical. The picture of two super talented very young Grand Prix horses.

10 year old Zippo M.I. look bodywise just more ready for the task, and you get the feeling that Daniel is able to adjust and ask for more during their performance.

Both judge at C - Ulrike Nivelle GER and judge at M - Dr. Jean-Michel Roudier FRA saw Daniel as today´s winner.

H2R running comments during the tests:

Jovian / Andreas Helgstrand - Good halt, tense hind out into trot, power balanced diagonal, good swing and balance for half passes, good halt with rein back, power diagonal, good into passage, big passage going into small active piaffe, dropping bit hind vertical for piaffe, good transitions, good walk tour, tiny tension into passage, becomes high hind for piaffe and hind vertical, good activity, good into canter, good 2 times, power extended canter, good change, tense bit unbalanced zigzag, ok 1 times swinging, huge sit for pirouette need to be more up and open in front, power diagonal, good passage, good activity piaffe but hind vertical, good transitions.

Queenparks Wendy / Andreas Helgstrand - Open halt hind, power diagonal, good crossing half passes, good halt tense rein back, power diagonal, could be a be sharper into passage, good passage, nice piaffe with good transitions, super extended walk with good relaxation, good collected walk, nice into passage, few piaffe steps forward trending, good flow, good into canter, good 2 times, power risk extended canter, small flying change, good zigzag, small hind 1 times, big 1st pirouette, 2nd need more clear sit, good into trot, good diagonal, good final centerline, bit swing front legs for passage, open halt.

Zippo M.I. / Daniel Bachmann Andersen - Good halt, well balanced diagonal with good power, nice side picture, supple half passes uphill with good crossing, good halt bit tense rein back, nice diagonal, supple into passage, good piaffe could be a bit quicker of the ground, smooth transitions, good relaxation for extended walk, good collected walk nice active, good into passage, nice balance for 2nd piaffe, good transitions, bit tense into canter, good 2 times over full diagonal, power extended canter, super change, super zigzag, good 1 times, very nice sit and balance for 1st pirouette, 2nd bit bigger, good into trot, nice diagonal, good passage, easy into piaffe, good piaffe at the spot and good transition out.

VIDEO - Dorothee Schneider and Showtime FRH German Champions Grand Prix Special 2022

Very happy Champion

Balve is the first competition since Tokyo for Showtime FRH, and as Dorothee said for the subsequent interview, Showtime is definitely her “heart horse”, recently he joined her as training horse for the event at Munich, and he was ready for the audience as Dorothee describes him.

Today they showed a clear winner performance without any technical issues, better half passes and clearly better pirouettes. Lots of expression for the extension, still lacking bit more clear rhythm and activity for the piaffe tours. 83,686%

Silver for Frederic Wandres with Duke of Britain showing a strong performance without any errors. 79,981%

At a very unfamiliar bronze position was Isabell Werth with Quantas. Today with error for both two times and also for the 15 one time times, the extended walk tour with very nice marks 6,5 - 6,5 - 7,0 - 6,0 - 6.5, and overall Quantas did not look really comfortable in the contact and also showed some tensions in the body. 78,216%

Hot scoreboard for German Championships

It is Championship year

The Germans are always very good making attention about their strength before a big championship and this year without exception.

No doubt Dorothee Schneider and Showtime were the winners, but scoring +82% was kind of well scored. Showtime looked fit and motivated, but the trot half passes were lacking more bending, like the piaffe tours were missing clear active regular beat of the ground, series were well executed but lacking more ground cover and both canter pirouettes were active but lacking more sit and balance (more like a small volte).

And looking down the top of the scoreboard the scores were really hot.

Today at 10.20 is Grand Prix Special. (Live at Clipmyhorse)
