The best Danish Warmblood foals, 2 year old mares and young ridden mares are ready for the Elite Show

Boxen in Herning will host Danish Warmblood Elite mare show and Elite foal show 2022

While your in Herning for the World Championships, you also get the chance to follow the best young Danish Warmblood future stars.

Both for the Elite Foal Show and auction (Tuesday 9 August) and the Elite Mare Show (Thursday 11 August) will take place during the World Championships in Herning, inside the huge Boxen arena.

The best foals participated at regional foal shows are selected for the Elite Show, and will run for the title filly of the year and colt of the year. A high quality collection of Elite foals will be for sale at auction Tuesday evening - the rest day between the Grand Prix Special and the Grand Prix freestyle.

Næste stop på sommerbesøget var hos June og Mogens Worre på Ny Toftegaard ved Hårlev på Sjælland.

Ejendommen har siden stutteriets start dannet rammen om avlsarbejdet, og da Mogens Worre planmæssigt skulle på pension for et par år siden, valgte parret at istandsætte og modernisere hovedhuset, for at kunne flytte ind der.

Mens hestene holder styr på June´s hverdag, hvor der også tid til en evt. hjælpende hånd med børnebørnene, så er der heller ikke blevet mindre at lave for Mogens, som bruger pensionisttilværelsen på flere bestyrelsesposter og spændende bibeskæftigelser. (Læs artikel fra Landbrugsavisen)

“Fuld pasning”

Hesteriet har altid haft topprioritet hos avlerparret, og udover en stor flok avlshopper med føl på sommerfolden, nyder den DV kårede fuldblodshingst Baccarat også sit otium Ny Toftegaard.

Sommertiden bruges ligesom de fleste andre stedet på at få istandsat staldene og kalket, så der er klar til endnu en vintersæson.

På markturen møder vi en stor flok af parrets egne hopper og føl, og hvor der også går et par “pensionærer” i form af avlshopper med føl. Her er man ikke et sekund i tvivl om hvad June står for, da hun fortæller, at hvis man vil være kunde hos hende, skal man ikke komme rendende i tide og utide (sagt med et smil på læben). Men det nytter jo ikke noget, at man som hesteejer dukker op, for at tage sin hoppe eller føl ud af flokken, eller give dem en gulerod sammen med de andre, det giver kun uro og problemer, så begrebet “fuld pasning” er rent faktisk det som June tilbyder. Pakken er ikke kun foder, udmugning og foldtid, det omhandler hele pakken inkl. smed, dyrlæge, inseminering, kontrol scanning osv.

Der holdes øje

Alle hopper og føl nyder folden på ca 20 tdl. og det skarpe øje fanger straks en flok fold heste med velplejede hove. Man fornemmer tydeligt at det erfarne avlerpar kender vigtigheden af det korrekte fundament. “Hvis der er et føl som skal korrigeres under vejs, så bliver det gjort så ofte som det er nødvendigt”, fortæller June.

På en separat fold går en mindre flok unge hopper som lige har været skilt fra da de skulle kontrol scannes, og umiddelbart ved siden af står en hoppe på fold for sig selv. “Hun er lige pludselig begyndt at være mere end almindelig hård ved sine medsøstre, og så må hun jo bare lidt i skammekrog, indtil hun kommer på bedre tanker” fortæller June.

Det lange avlsarbejde

Ved frokostbordet går snakken på avlsarbejdet, og her mærker man tydeligt June og Mogens´ passion for fuldblodshestene. En passion som startede for mange år siden, og hvor de i dag stadig avler på en enkelt fuldblodshoppe, men som Mogens også klart indrømmer, så “koster det” en generation at avle fuldblod ind i dressuravlen. Værdien af at have tilført fuldblod i avlen har de nu selv gående på markerne, i form af hopper hvor fuldblod er repræsenteret på morsiden på langt de fleste føl.

Reproduktionen for årgang 2023 er på plads med 7 dressurføl, to ifolet Glamourdale, Vitalis, Danciero, Be Sure, Escaneno og Hesselhøj Down Town, 2 springføl og 1 fuldblodsføl.

Salg af føl

Stutteri Worre er nærmest fast gæst når der er følauktioner - og i år er heller ingen undtagelse, idet de allerede har solgt to føl på auktion i år til hhv. USA og Blue Hors.

June og Mogens er også klar til VM, idet de også har fået udtaget et særdeles lovende hoppeføl til Dansk Varmblods Elite auktion, som afholdes i forbindelse med VM i Herning, tirsdag den 9. august kl. 19 i Boxen.

En helt ekstra oplevelse som avlerparret glæder sig meget til, og selvfølgelig krydser fingre for at føllet også bliver solgt godt.

Nu går det snart løs

De sidste forberedelser er igang for de 4 danske ekvipager, og idag fortæller Daniel om de sidste forberedelser frem mod VM, hvor han har haft Nathalie med på sidelinien.

Og som Nathalie fortæller i videoen herunder handler det ikke alene om træning, men i høj grad også om den rette timing frem mod opgaven der venter.

Team konkurrencen starter lørdag morgen med første del af de ialt 95 ekvipager, og det er chef d´equipe som skal aflevere en kuvert med hvilken dag hvilke ekvipager skal ride. Herefter bliver startrækkefølgen lavet ud fra ekvipagernes placering på FEI´s World Ranking (i grupper af 5). Anden del af team konkurrencen er søndag morgen.

De 30 bedste ekvipager fra teamkonkurrencen går videre til Grand Prix Specialen mandag, og herfra går de 15 bedste videre til küren onsdag aften (dog max 3 ekvipager fra hver nation).

Alle ekvipagerne skal være klar til fredag morgen kl. 8.00 hvor der er første vet check. 2. vet check er onsdag formiddag inden küren.

Münster: 77 foals with the finest dressage pedigrees were up for sale at today's OnLive auction at the Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch. Glamorous was not only the name of the top priced foal. The friends of the Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch celebrated their foals with a unique atmosphere. At an average price of 13,688 Euros, 65 young offers changed hands. A daughter of Glamourdale stood out especially in the lot. She was sold for 85,000 Euros.

 

Glamorous! The name said it all. The Glamourdale/San Amour daughter had already made a fabulous appearance at the video shoot. In today's auction, the filly, bred and exhibited by Gestüt Schultenhof in Norden-Norddeich, trotted in the rhythm round after round with a lot of expression and elasticity. The bids were flying high. The brwon filly descends from the direct line of Sagami, who is highly successful in the dressage ring with Benjamin Werndl. It was an exciting bidding duel until the very end. At last, auctioneer Thomas Münch knocked down his hammer at a price of 85,000 Euros. For 17,500 Euros, the same customers bought the colt with the head number 9. Bon Totilas by Bon Vivaldi NRW/Totilas (breeder and exhibitor: ZG Welsing/Bornhorst, Ankum) impressed with his type and his flawless performance in Münster-Handorf. 

The most popular colt paraded with the head number 1. He also lives up to his name: Total Dance by Total Diamond PS/For Dance (breeder and exhibitor: Daniela Graé, Senden) convinced with first-class movement quality. The liver chestnut colt made a perfect start to the auction! The customers fought for a long time on the spot and online at the screens at home. The colt, who descents from a top dam line, was knocked down online for 44,500 Euros.

Hanover's best three-year-olds are crowned

Herwart von der Decken-Show brilliant start of the Verden Championships

Verden. One of the breeding highlights of the year is the Herwart von der Decken-Show. On Wednesday,  August 3, the best three-year-old mares from Hannover and the Rhineland will present themselves in Verden to determine their mare queen. The jumping mares will complete the spectacular free jumping under the open sky from 9.30 a.m. CET, before the dressage mares dance on the triangular course from 1.15 p.m. CET onwards.  

At noon the triangular track belongs to the dressage mares. The 53 pedigrees contain the finest pedigrees that Hannover has to offer. The two Olympic team winners, Sönke Rothenberger and Heike Kemmer, will award the marks together with breeding director Ulrich Hahne. In addition, the best mare family of the past show season will be awarded the Friedrich Jahncke Prize.

The Herwart von der Decken Show is the magnificent prelude to the Verden Championships. On the show grounds of the Verden racecourse, the best young riding, dressage and jumping horses compete for the coveted yellow and white winner's sashes and the title "Hannoveraner Champion". In addition, Verden is a station of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal and offers dressage competitions up to Grand Prix Special. The exciting programme is completed by the Verden Elite Foal Auction, which takes place for the first time as a hybrid auction. The foals will be presented on the show grounds on Friday from 2 p.m. CET before they are auctioned off in the Niedersachsenhalle from 5 p.m. CET onwards.

Sommerbesøg hos Willum Thomsen

VM feberen raser lige om lidt. Uanset om hverdagen primært handler om uddannelse af heste, undervisning eller avl er VM i Herning på kalenderen.

En sommerdag lagde H2R vejen forbi “Slottet” Dressurstald Willum Thomsen til formiddags ridning og barriere-snak, mens både Joachim og Rune var i sadlen. Joachim red den 6-årige vallak Follow Your Heart e. Follow Me / Don Frederico, avlet af Henriette Bregendorf og Brian Hisselholm Jensen, ejet af Stutteri Logslund & Dressurstald Willum Thomsen, og Rune red den 10-årige DV hoppe Hevringholms Delaya DWB e. ERA Dancing Hit/Blue Hors Hertug, avlet af Anne-Sophie Høyer Christensen, ejet af Maria Bjerg.

Udfordringer

Selvom begge herrer er særdeles erfarne og selv besidder en stor “værktøjskasse”, så har de aldrig været bange for at søge inspiration og hjælp fra andre. De har begge gennem en lang årrække succesfuldt haft bl.a. Kyra Kyrklund med på sidelinien, og benytter sig stadig af chancen når den travle træner har tid i kalenderen. Gennem den senere tid har Rune og Joachim haft Morten Thomsen med på sidelinien, et samarbejde de begge er særdeles glade for. “Mortens ekspertise og “andre øjne” giver ikke kun nøglen til nye indgangsvinkler for at løse en given udfordring, det giver også ekstra motivation til bruge nye “redskaber” i træningen af staldens øvrige heste. Måden Morten læser hestene på, og hvor vi mærker effekten med det samme, er ganske enkelt unik", siger Rune og Joachim samstemmende.

Nye mål

Med succesfuldt DM for Joachim med både Aarøes Ghandi, som han selv ejer, og den unge Vivaldi søn Vichy Pax, som er avlet af og ejes af Stutteri Pax v/Dorit Axel og Thomas Pensbo er Joachim klar til en forhåbentlig spændende efterårssæson, hvor en Louisdor Preis kvalifikation sammen med Vichy Pax lige nu ligger på tegnebrættet.

For Rune og Delaya har sæsonen allerede budt på fin Inter II debut, og Grand Prix debut venter formodentlig også i efteråret fortæller Rune.

En travl hverdag

Rune har de sidste mange år været en særdeles efterspurgt som underviser, og kalenderen er også fyldt godt ud hvis man spørger lidt ind til hverdagen. Udover en god håndfuld hjemlige ryttere, går turen også ofte til både Sverige og Tyskland. Så når Rune tager afsted får han typisk redet selv om morgenen inden afgang, og det er herefter Joachim som holder skansen på hjemmefronten.

VM klar…

Selvom hverken Rune eller Joachim er til start til næste uges VM, så er det alligevel med en stor portion stolthed at Rune melder klar til VM. En helt særlig begivenhed finder sted efter Grand Prix Specialen som går mandag den 8. august, nemlig endegyldigt farvel til Atterupgaards Cassidy som sammen med Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour siger farvel foran hele dressurverdenen. Rune blev fornyligt ringet op af Cathrine med invitation til denne specielle aften, en invitation som Rune naturligvis takkede ja til, og som Cathrine fortæller H2R “selvfølgelig skal Rune med, han er nærmest den vigtigste, føler jeg❤️”.

Laudrup-Dufour leads powerful Danish challenge in Dressage

With a tide of change once again sweeping through the sport of international Dressage, it seems very possible that the host nation will shine when the ECCO FEI World Championships 2022 gets underway in 10 days time. With a mighty show of strength over the last year, and impressive results at the premier showcase in Aachen (GER) just a few short weeks ago, Team Denmark is in great shape right now.

Leading the charge is world no 2, Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour, who partnered Bohemian in the team that finished fourth at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games last summer. They then went on to win team bronze at the European Championships in Hagen (GER) a few weeks later where Dufour also claimed individual bronze in the Grand Prix Special and silver in the Freestyle.

Major stir

Roll on 2022 and the Danes caused another major stir when swamping the leaderboard at the fifth leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2021/2022 Western European League in Neumunster (GER) in February. World no. 1, Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, claimed pole position with her Tokyo Olympic champion TSF Dalera BB but, in a field filled with class, Laudrup-Dufour - this time riding the younger Vamos Amigos - finished second ahead of compatriots Nanna Skodborg Merrald (Atterupgaards Orthilia) and Carina Cassøe Krüth (Heiline’s Danciera) in third and fourth. German legend Isabell Werth had to settle for fifth place with her relatively new ride, DSP Qantaz.

Then at the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final in Leipzig (GER) in April, Laudrup-Dufour and Vamos Amigos finished second in the Short Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle, each time sharing the podium with von Bredow-Werndl and Werth. And in Aachen earlier this month she was joined by Skodborg Merrald, Cassøe Krüth and Daniel Bachmann Andersen (Marshall-Bell) to post victory in the penultimate leg of the FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ 2022 series before going on to win both the Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle with Vamos Amigos. 

It’s no wonder that this is the team now selected to represent the host country when the action kicks off in just over a weeks’ time.

History

The history of the FEI Dressage World Championships dates back to 1966 when the first edition was staged at the Swiss Cavalry School in Bern (SUI) with a starting field of just 24 competitors. Germany has been the dominant force since then, claiming the team title for the twelfth time at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Tryon (USA) in 2018.

Running on a four-year cycle. half-way between each Olympic Games, Denmark has only once made it onto the Team podium when taking bronze at the fifth edition in Lausanne (SUI) in 1982.

However the Danish team finished fourth and Andreas Helgstrand really put his country on the map when clinching Freestyle silver and Grand Prix Special bronze in Aachen in 2006 partnering Blue Hors Matine. The pair were in the best of company, with superstars Isabell Werth and Satchmo and The Netherlands’ Anky van Grunsven and Salinero filling the other two podium places on each occasion. 

And now Team Denmark are a real force to be reckoned with.

Paris 2024

The Blue Hors FEI Dressage World Championships 2022 provides the first qualification opportunity for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games so there’s a lot hanging in the balance.  The top six teams, excluding the hosts, will make the cut from the long list of 20 competing nations that includes Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and USA.

A total of 95 athletes from 34 countries will line out, and there will be individual representatives from another 14 countries; Armenia, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Hungary, India, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Morocco, Moldova, Palestine, Singapore and South Africa. 

The defending Team champions from Germany will of course be determined to uphold their incredible record despite the absence of von Bredow-Werndl and her lovely mare TSF Dalera BB who have been all but unbeatable for some time now. With a new baby on the way very shortly the Olympic, European and World Cup champion is sidelined for the moment, so her country’s four-strong side consists of Werth (DSP Quantaz), Frederic Wandres (Duke of Britain FRH), Benjamin Werndl (Famoso OLD) and the extraordinary Ingrid Klimke (Franziskus 15), a multiple champion in the sport of Eventing whose father, Reiner Klimke, was a double world champion in Dressage and one of the great horsemen of all time.

German party

Only a narrow defeat by the Soviet Union in 1970 and a bronze medal finish behind the winning Dutch in 2010 have spoiled the German team party down the years. Great Britain took bronze and the USA slotted into silver medal spot in 2018, and this year’s American side is headed up by Steffen Peters (Suppenkasper) who will be joined by Katie Duerhammer (Quartett), Ashley Holzer (Valentine) and Adrienne Lyle (Salvino). Meanwhile putting their best feet forward for Britain will be Richard Davison (Bubblingh), Charlotte Dujardin (Imhotep), Charlotte Fry (Glamourdale) and Gareth Hughes (Classic Briolinca). 

Team Sweden’s Jeanna Hogbeg (Astoria), Patrik Kittel (Touchdown), Therese Nilshagen (Dante Weltino OLD) and Juliette Ramel (Buriel KH) can be relied upon to give a good account of themselves as can the Dutch foursome of Emmelie Scholtens (Indian Rock), Marieke van der Putten (Torveslettens Titanium), Dinja van Liere (Hermes) and Thamar Zweistra (Hexagon’s Ich Weiss). But if the Danes continue to fire on all cylinders then the rest are going to have to be at their very best to keep them in check.

It’s all to play for with three sets of medals on offer in the Team event, the individual Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle. The Grand Prix, which will run over two days - Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August - will decide the result of the Team competition and the top 30 finishers will qualify for the Grand Prix Special on Monday 8. The top 15 here will then go through to the Grand Prix Freestyle in which a maximum of three athletes per country are permitted to participate on Wednesday 10 August.

The exceptional Isabell Werth, who won the first of her five World Championship Team gold medals at The Hague (NED) in 1994, was on the victorious 2018 German team and also won the Grand Prix Special with the now-retired mare Bella Rose and will be looking to defend that title too. The Freestyle competition did not take place in Tryon due to a forecast for extreme weather conditions, so the last Freestyle world champion was Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin who swept all before her with the amazing Valegro in Caen (FRA) in 2014.

More classic Dressage history is about to be made, so don’t miss a hoofbeat….

Top price 25.000 euro at Van Olst Sales Foal auction

The last foal was just sold in the Van Olst Sales Online auction. In The Foal Edition 2022, which was created as a service for our breeders in the Corona time, 23 foals came under the hammer, 20 of which were eventually sold.

The first foal in the auction was also the most expensive one. The Kjento son Watteau van de Burggrave was sold for € 25.000,- and will move to Australia.

The second money of € 16.000,- was for the number 2 of the auction: the Glamourdale daughter Sara-Melia. This handsome filly stays in the Netherlands and will continue her career with real dressage enthusiasts.

The interest from England this year was enormous. Not less than 8 foals have been sold to this country and will soon make the crossing.

5 foals stay in the Netherlands, 3 go to Sweden, 2 go to Germany and 1 foal has been sold to the United States.

From only watching the presentations the picture of the best mare was not the 2022 Champion, and breeding wise this mare might have an interesting dam line, but Benefit himself has unfortunately never showed anything since the licensing.

From the Brilliant ring mares, the offsprings by Escolar and For Romance I are nice, but either missing the feminine look (Escolar) or the real supple body (For Romance), whereas the 5 mares mentioned below shows the entire package.

Oplev Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour og Cassidy sammen for sidste gang

Under FEI World Championships Herning 2022 rider Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour på banen for sidste gang med 19-årige Atterupgaards Cassidy. Den røde vallak kickstartede hendes imponerende, internationale karriere, og nu ser en æra slut. Cassidy pensioneres fra sporten under et stemningsfuldt show mandag aften den 8. august under det firdobbelte VM i Herning.

Cathrine Laudrup-Dufours forældre Mona og Peter Dufour købte den røde vallak Atterupgaards Cassidy til Cathrine, da hun var 17 år. Cassidy var bare 6 år, og de to har dannet par i international dressursport lige siden. Talrige medaljer og præstigefyldte sejre er resultatet af det partnerskab. Under Herning2022 siger vi farvel til Atterupgaards Cassidy, da han forlader den internationale topsport som 19-årig. Cassidy er stadig i form og kommer til at elske at optræde sammen med Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour endnu en gang foran publikum.

“Det bliver meget følelsesladet for mig, og jeg kan ikke helt forstå, at det bliver min sidste tur på Cassidy foran et entusiastisk publikum – som han elsker. Jeg håber, han får det farvel, han fortjener,” siger Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour,.

Bare at tale om afskeden under VM i Herning bringer tårerne frem i øjnene på Cathrine. Cassidy er hendes ”hjertes hest”, som hun kalder ham.

En international sensation

Sammen med Cassidy vandt hun 11 EM-medaljer som junior- og youngrider, inden ekvipagen fik sin internationale seniordebut i efteråret 2015. Cathrine og Cassidy blev udtaget til OL i Rio i 2016, mindre end et år efter deres internationale Grand Prix-debut. De sluttede på en 13. plads ved 2016-legene.

Året efter blev Cathrine og Cassidy en international sensation, da de stod ved siden af tyske Isabell Werth og Sonke Rothenberger på EM-podiet efter at have vundet dobbelt individuel bronze og holdsølv til Danmark.

Hun og Cassidy var blandt favoritterne til podiet forud for World Equestrian Games i 2018, men var ikke i stand til at rejse til USA, da Cassidy blev skadet på folden. Parret var tilbage på toppen i 2019 og scorede sejre ved Herning CDI5* og Aachen CDI4*, før de tog individuel bronze i Grand Prix Special ved EM i Rotterdam.

Fans i hele verden

En enestående rejse vil nå sin afslutning for Cassidy og Cathrine ved verdensmesterskaberne i Herning. Sammen har de oplevet usædvanlige øjeblikke. De har en stor og entusiastisk fanskare, som rækker langt ud over Danmarks grænser, på grund af den lethed, elegance og harmoni de to udstråler på banen. 

Publikum og Herning2022 siger farvel på et tidspunkt, hvor Cassidy fortsat er i træning, fit og glad.

Han skal ikke længere præstere i rampelyset ved mesterskaber og internationale stævner. Det bliver et følelsesladet og tårevædet farvel. Og det bliver en helt særlig oplevelse at se Cathrine og Cassidy på banen sammen for sidste gang. Det sker mandag den 8. august umiddelbart efter medaljeceremonien i verdensmesterskaberne i Grand Prix Special.

Herefter skal Cassidy hjem på ridecenteret i Fredensborg hos Cathrine og Rasmine Laudrup-Dufour, for at nyde sit otium på folden og i sin sædvanlige box.
