Verden. The Grande Prize 2026 has been awarded to For Dance by Romance/Rubiloh. The typy bay, bred by Angela and Uwe Butkus of Overath, received the award during the stallion presentation at the Sosath station in Lemwerder.

Stallions are often in the spotlight. Particularly in dressage, the mares and dam lines behind them are far too rarely given due consideration. They have a lasting influence on the hereditary qualities of their offspring. This year’s Grande Prize winner, For Dance, meets the breeding criteria for a highly competitive dam line to a remarkable degree. The dam of the 13-year-old For Romance/Rubiloh son (breeder: ZG Butkus, Overath) is none other than the 2022 Hanoverian Mare of the Year, St.Pr.St. Reverie. The appearance of her sons For Dance and First Choice B at her award ceremony during the Hanoverian licensing remains unforgettable.

The career of the exceptionally typey For Dance began at the 2015 Verden licensing. He left the stallion sales wearing the premium sash, heading for Lemwerder. The Sosath stallion station became his new home, both in terms of breeding and sport. For Dance completed his 3-day-test in Schlieckau. His average score for inner values was 9.5, and he achieved an 8.5 in the test under the testrider. Among the basic gaits, the canter stood out particularly with a score of 9.0. In the performance test a year later, rideability was once again the highest mark on his report. In competition, his path with Rieke Harms as a four-year-old initially led to the Bundeschampionat final, which he finished in fourth place. As a five- and six-year-old, the stallion qualified for Warendorf once again. At the age of seven, Ninja Sosath took the saddle on the highly talented bay and continued to develop him. A year later, the pair became German Amateur Champions in Münster-Handorf. When his first offspring came under saddle, they impressed with their father’s attitude and rideability.

Last year, the oldest For Dance offspring were eight years of age and performed impressively for several breeding societies, as expected for their age. The Westphalian mare Frieda NRW (dam’s sire Fidermark) became Vice-Bundeschampion in 2024 with Greta Busacker and placed in the final of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal in 2025. Representing Oldenburg, Fame and Glory OLD (dam’s sire Farewell III) has already placed at S-level internationally for Spain with Maria Gomez Guzman. In para-sport, the once-licensed stallion and former Verden auction foal For Memory (dam’s sire Destano, breeder: Kurt Bolte, Okel) shines at the highest level with the American rider Cynthia Screnci. These successful horses exemplify the special hereditary traits of For Dance, which can transform a good horse into an exceptional sport horse. Other breeding societies also value the stallion’s hereditary qualities. In Oldenburg, he has already been honoured as a Hauptprämienhengst and Future Sire. This is now followed by the award of the Grande Prize from the Hanoverian Society, which is linked to the hope that his offspring may have a lasting positive influence on Hanoverian breeding. The stallion meets the requirements, and his use in breeding is recommended.

Verboomen and Zonik Plus edge out Fry and Glamourdale in thrilling ’s-Hertogenbosch finale

The final qualifier of the FEI Dressage World Cup Western European League in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (NED) turned into a direct duel between the world numbers one and three: Justin Verboomen (BEL) and Charlotte Fry (GBR). In the end it was Verboomen with Zonik Plus who came out on top, while Fry and Glamourdale had to settle for second place. Home favourite Marieke van der Putten (NED) finished third with Zantana OLD RS2.

In the sold out Brabanthallen in 's-Hertogenbosch, traditionally the final qualifier of the Western European League, crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of two outstanding black stallions: Zonik Plus and Glamourdale. What followed was a battle of titans in which both combinations proved closely matched.

Lightness versus power

Verboomen and Zonik Plus were narrowly the best of the two in both the Grand Prix and the Freestyle, but Fry and Glamourdale were never far behind.

The margins were minimal, yet in the end the elegance, lightness and apparent ease of Verboomen and Zonik Plus prevailed over the power, expression and scope of Fry and Glamourdale. Both combinations made a small mistake in the tempi changes, but the overall standard remained extremely high.

Verboomen secured victory with 89.205%, while Fry finished just behind on 89.085%. The Belgian athlete appeared noticeably happier after the Freestyle than he had been after the Grand Prix.

“For the Grand Prix and already from the moment we arrived here, Zonik Plus felt very good. But once we were in the arena during the Grand Prix he became a little distracted and tense. We still won, but I wasn’t completely satisfied. Today in the Freestyle Zonik was much calmer, softer and more relaxed. That relaxation was exactly what I was looking for, and it made a big difference today,” explained Verboomen.

Fry pleased despite narrow defeat

For Fry and Glamourdale the feeling was similar. They too were far happier after the Freestyle than after their Grand Prix test.

“Glammie felt amazing today, just incredible. We had amazing moments, some of the best I’ve ever felt on him. The trot half passes and the extended canter just felt like flying. Just a few small blips snuck in, which was a shame, but it’s good to know there’s more for the future. So hopefully one day we can beat Justin,” Fry said with a smile.

Personal best for Van der Putten

Dutch leading athlete at the moment, Marieke van der Putten, guided Zantana RS2 OLD to a new personal best of 82.175%. The talented mare showed impressive ability to collect, and Van der Putten believes there is still much more to come from the combination.

“I was super happy with her. In the beginning of the freestyle she was a bit too excited, but the rest for now couldn’t be better. Especially with the canter work I was really happy,” said Van der Putten.

World Cup Final picture taking shape

Two more combinations broke the 80% barrier in ’s-Hertogenbosch. Raphael Netz (GER) scored 80.810% with DSP Dieudonné, presenting the eager black stallion with great harmony. Charlotta Rogerson (SUI) also surpassed the 80% mark with Bonheur de La Vie, scoring 80.270% just as she had done on home soil in Basel.

From the Western European League, the top nine combinations qualify for the FEI Dressage World Cup Final in Fort Worth (USA), with final confirmations of all combinations expected in the coming days.

Following the last qualifier in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Verboomen leads the World Cup standings. His compatriot Larissa Pauluis sits in second place, while Patrik Kittel (SWE), who was not present in ’s-Hertogenbosch, completes the top three.

The combination of softness, power, quality and accuracy makes a winner.

From the start list Zonik Plus and Glamourdale were the top contenders for the last leg.

For both the Grand Prix and the freestyle it became very close race, both tests with a small surplus for Zonik Plus from the judges. No doubt Zonik Plus and Justin Verboomen has been unbeatable. Even though the two stallions hardly only has the color and abilities in common, they both shows freedom, expression, balance and super frame. The obivious differences from H2R point of view was power, accuracy and quality of the exercises this weekend which wasn´t completely reflected on the scoreboard.

In the Grand Prix Zonik Plus was not fully concentrated, and at the same time showing some tensions which was reflected in more minor issues (not directly technical errors) 78,457%. Glamourdale showed a strong Grand Prix, where piaffe tours could be more active and lost of balance for 2nd pirouette 78,022%.

Glamourdale freestyle with power, freedom, expression, balance and super frame. Top quality of extensions, half passes, passage and 1 times. Small error for 2 times, successful repeated in the jokerline and piaffe pirouette missing more energy, final result 89,085%.

Zonik Plus freestyle with expression, freedom, balance and super frame. Unfortunately not the same power and natural forward search as we´ve seen them before. Looks as if Justin has to ask a bit more for the piaffe, like also the passage and extensions missing bit more natural power. Half passes missing bit more suppleness and flow, while the series becomes very tense, with a small error for 1 times, but repeated for jokerline without errors. Pirouettes are definitely in a league of their own, final result 89,205%.

It is not an easy task to sit in the judges chair, and the sport will always be a combination of judging each exercise combined how your eyes see the full picture. (You simply cannot put your personal subjective assessments away).

AI in dressage

We are living in a world where AI has become a part of our everyday, but not many of the dressage sport lovers would like AI to replace our judges. Could AI be kind of add on for the future judging, to ask about exercises like extensions, series, walk, half passes, piaffe, frame or use of tail and position of ears. All elements measureable in terms of correct development of AI for the future.

It was an electric atmosphere in the great Brabant Halle in s´Hertogenbosch for the last World Grand Prix qualifier for the final.

The competition became as exciting as possible between the two black stallions Glamourdale and Zonik Plus.

Was it a sign for Justin and Zonik Plus that they have to stay super sharp to keep the competitors behind, and at the same time a sign for Lottie and Glammy, without the mistake for the 2nd pirouette the victory has been in their hands.

Lottie shows Glamourdale in a powerful and spectacular performance without pressure. Yesterday the piaffe tours were missing bit more power, as rest of the performance was at absolute top level until the 2nd pirouette where Glamourdale unfortunately lost the balance. Great outline all the way in a steady contact.

A look into the scores where judge at B Dutch Maarten Van der Heijden has Glamourdale and Lottie more than 3,5% lower than Zonik Plus and Justin. Exactly same picture from same judge in the Prix St. Georg for Ilegro and Lottie with 5% lower (67,5%) than the winner McLaren and Dinja van Liere.

In August, the entire sporting world will cast its eyes upon Aachen – the place where equestrian history is written again and again, where extraordinary moments are experienced. From August 11th-23rd, the Allianz Park, the legendary showgrounds at the Soers, will be transformed into the international meeting place of the equestrian elite. But before the world-class sport begins, we can look forward to a prelude that sets benchmarks itself: The Opening Ceremony – a festival full of glamour, emotions and magical moments that will herald in the FEI World Championships Aachen 2026.

True to the motto “Welcome Home”, the parade of the participating nations and their athletes will be the first goosebump moment of the evening: For now, what awaits the spectators remains to be the secret of Birgit Rosenberg, Board Member of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein, organisers of the event. The Grand Quadrille of the German State Stud comprising 64 stallions guarantees a particularly moving moment. A performance that unites precision, tradition and aesthetics – goosebumps guaranteed! Lisa Röckener, who is predominantly well-known for her popular show acts based on liberty work and desensitising training, will no doubt, as always, receive thunderous applause from the crowd. With her passion and charisma, she captivates every audience and lends a special touch to every evening. She will be part of the opening part on the evening of August 11th.

Almost a traditional element of Aachen’s supporting programme and always an eye-catcher: international royalty. At the Opening Ceremony of the World Equestrian Games, a convoy of magnificent royal coaches awaits the guests – majestic highlights that will lend the evening a fairytale-like ambiance.

The LG PRE ANCCE Stud Book Saw Continued Growth Throughout 2025

More than 12,700 new horses and some 3,000 new stud farms were registered worldwide 

In 2025, the PRE Stud Book (LG PRE ANCCE) registered 12,747 new foals in the Birth Register (6,286 colts and 6,461 fillies) in addition to incorporating 2,835 new stud farms. As of the 31st of December, of last year, the total breed census reached 291,138 horses (143,091 mares and 148,047 stallions), belonging to 51.354 active stud farms in 71 different countries. This data indicates that Purebred Spanish Horses represent 70% of all equines registered in Spain.

Among the newly incorporated stud farms, 41% are internationals, with Italy leading the list, followed by the United States and Germany. The other 59% are located in Spain, with Andalusia (47%), the Valencian Community and Madrid being the regions with the highest numbers.

Throughout the year, 10,152 changes of ownership were processed. For international markets, these services were generally concentrated in the United States, Italy, Mexico and France. At the same time, 5,770 Basic Breeding Stock Assessments were carried out. In terms of promotional efforts, authorized LG PRE Stud Book veterinarians undertook 32 trips to 25 countries to assess horses, including Greece, the United States, New Zeeland, Denmark, Honduras, Mexico and the Czech Republic.

Quality Certificates
All LG PRE ANCCE Stud Book activities operate under strict standards of quality, in keeping with UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 norms. This has earned international recognition, thus making the organization a technical reference for other equine breeds in Europe.   

ANCCE’s Genetic Molecular and Genomics Laboratory performs the genetic parentage analysis for all registered PRE Horses worldwide. The Lab has UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 quality certification and is accredited by ENAC (in keeping with UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards) for genetic profile identification and equine filiation verification. This is the first and only laboratory in Spain with accreditation to analyze the genetic markers involved in equine coat colors.

ENAC accreditation guarantees compliance with all analytical quality standards. The laboratory is authorized by the Andalusian Regional Government and Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA), and is certified by the International Society for Animal Genetics (ISAG) in Ranking 1 for accuracy by having achieved a 100% match in external quality control tests.

Selection and Genetic Improvement
In 2025, the LG PRE ANCCE web published the genetic values and indexes for 175,375 horses, which were calculated based on data obtained at official performance tests. When it came to Conformation Traits for Dressage, the values of 37 conformation traits and the Global Genetic Index (GGI) of each horse were provided. For Dressage, the values of six variables and their corresponding GGI were also published.

The 2025 Catalog of Breeding Stock included 150 horses that earned one of the established genetic categories: 95 as Young Recommended Breeding Stock, 33 as Improver Breeding Stock, and 22 as Elite Breeding Stock. 

Genomics Analysis
Within the scope of the GO EQUIGENOM project, ANCCE has concluded the design and manufacturing of the EQUIGENE array for genomic analysis. This tool incorporates equine genome data for parentage testing and the diagnoses of diseases, malformations, and hereditary defects. It also facilitates the study of genes associated with coat color, conformation, performance, behavior, and fertility, in addition to researching new markers linked to other pathologies.

Genomic analytical data provide breeders with technical information to facilitate breeding decision-making from an early age. The aim is to optimize resources, attain efficient genetic progress, and consolidate PRE quality standards for national and international marketing.

International Representation and Collaboration
Throughout 2025, the PRE Stud Book has participated in national and international conferences, meetings, and congresses, such as ICAR and EAAP. It has organized training courses for breeders and enthusiasts, as well as technical meetings with authorized veterinarians and collaborating associations worldwide. 

Likewise, there was ample institutional collaboration between a number of organizations, including Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA), Regional governments, ASAJA (Agribusiness Association), and the MERAGEM research group. ANCCE also participated at meetings with bodies of which it is a member, including WBFSH (Scientific and Disciplinary Committees), WHIRDEC, RFEAGAS, FEACC, COPA-COGECA, and ISAG (International Society for Animal Genetics).

Institutional representatives interested in the technical operation and advances in genomic selection visited both the PRE Stud Book and Laboratory. Visitors included representatives from Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA--General Secretariat for Agricultural Resources and Food Safety, Directorate-General for Agricultural Production and Markets, and Assistant-Directorate-General for Livestock Production Resources), as well as the European Commissioner for Agriculture and the President of the Andalusian Regional Government.

KWPN ready with selection schedule for WCYH in Verden 4 - 9 August 2026

21 and 23 April with first observation event in Ermelo for 5 yr old, 6 yr old and 7 yr old horses.

The selection commission will be Johan Hamminga, Janine van Twist and Alex van Silfhout.

About 20 combinations from each year will be selected for 2nd observation taking place in Delft 27 and 28 May.

Final selection day with 12 combination in Ermelo will be 22 June and where the participants for WCYH in Verden will be announced.

61,266 Visitors for Equestrian Sport and Stallion Licensing

Equestrian enthusiasts from Denmark and abroad filled MCH Herning for the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing. Five days of increasing visitor numbers, international top sport, stallions of the highest quality once again created a truly special atmosphere

Every year, horse enthusiasts from Denmark and around the world travel to Herning to take part in the Danish Warmblood Stallion Show and the Hest & Rytter fair at MCH Herning. This year, the event attracted a total of 61,266 visitors, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The audience was also treated to impressive sport and stallions of exceptional quality.
Five days of international sport, and in dressage at the very highest level in ECCO Five Star Dressage, exciting and impressive show jumping, and the central stallion licensing once again formed the backbone of the event.
“We are extremely pleased to experience the tremendous support for this year’s Stallion Licensing, where we could celebrate growth in both visitor numbers and the number of stallions presented for licensing,” begins Claus Hansen, Director of Danish Warmblood and DV-Event.

Isabell Werth Impressed by the Event and Atmosphere
German rider Isabell Werth, the most successful dressage rider in history, has experienced almost everything in her career – but the Danish audience in Jyske Bank Boxen nearly took her breath away.
“I am so impressed by the show and the atmosphere here. This show has everything – sport and breeding, young and experienced riders. The atmosphere was electric when I entered the arena today, and I truly enjoyed it,” said Isabell Werth, who finished second twice with the Danish Warmblood mare Wendy de Fontaine by Sezuan/Blue Hors Soprano (bred by Kurt Gosmer). Together they delivered a magnificent performance and broke the magical 90 percent markin the freestyle.
The victory went to Danish rider Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour and Mount St. John Freestyle, prompting the audience in the arena to rise and cheer for the pair.
“The victory itself means less, but seeing top-level sport here in Denmark is fantastic. We have an amazing show here, and the atmosphere – I’m not sure it exists anywhere else in the world like this. I almost must pinch myself that we can have this kind of top sport in Herning,” said Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour after her win.

Stallions for the Future
The stallion licensing is the core element of the Danish Warmblood association. It is here that the organization and breeders see the very best of this year’s young stallions.
The number of stallions presented for licensing was close to a historic high, and as the judges have highlighted over the past days, the top stallions were also accompanied by outstanding quality.
In Denmark we are fortunate to have forward-thinking and highly skilled stallion owners with an almost unique ability to identify the breeding stars of the future on an international scale — something that benefits breeders greatly.

The dressage breeding committee — Vicky Nortvig, Johnny Sørensen, Bjarne Nielsen and Rune Willum — approved 18 stallions, of which five received premium stallion status:

  • Cat. no. 30 Bilbao by Be Sure / Blue Hors Zackerey, owned and bred by Bakkegaard ApS

  • Cat. no. 43 Epic Zone PS by Escanto PS / Secret, bred by Gestüt Lewitz and owned by HP Horses

  • Cat. no. 44 Enziano by Escanto PS / Blue Hors Veneziano, bred by Klaus Sieverding and owned by Helgstrand Dressage ApS

Top Showdown in Herning – Victory for Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour

World-class dressage was on display during the CDI5* Grand Prix Freestyle at ECCO Five Star Dressage on Saturday, March 7, held as part of the Danish Warmblood Stallion Show in Herning

The atmosphere in Jyske Bank Boxen was electric as some of the world’s best dressage riders went head-to-head, with Danish rider Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour ultimately claiming the victory.
Some of the world’s leading dressage riders had announced their participation in this year’s Danish Warmblood Stallion Show in Herning, and from the start lists alone it was clear that the CDI5* Grand Prix Freestyle to Music – ECCO Five Star Dressage would feature a clash of titans.
The main battle unfolded between two global superstars: Denmark’s Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour and Germany’s Isabell Werth.

The atmosphere in Jyske Bank Boxen reached boiling point, and several riders later commented on the unique ambience that characterizes the Herning event.

“I am so impressed by the show and the atmosphere here. This event has it all – sport and breeding, young and experienced horses. The atmosphere was electric when I entered the arena today, and I really enjoyed it,” said Isabell Werth, who finished second on the Danish-bred Wendy de Fontaine by Sezuan/Blue Hors Soprano (bred by Kurt Gosmer). Together they delivered an outstanding performance, breaking the magical 90 percent barrier with a score of 90.080%.

The fact that Werth finished second despite scoring above 90 percent speaks volumes about the level of competition the audience witnessed today. The Danish crowd erupted when it became clear that Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour had secured her second victory of the day. Riding Mount St John Freestyle by Fidermark/Donnerhall 11, she had already delivered what she described as a spot-on Grand Prix yesterday. Today she produced another brilliant performance, earning an impressive 90.465% after a freestyle that gave the audience goosebumps and a standing ovation.

“Herning is fantastic, but Freestyle is even more fantastic. Yesterday’s Grand Prix was the best Grand Prix of my life, so I almost felt guilty asking her to perform again today. I rode with slightly less throttle today, and it’s so rare to reach 90 percent. The victory itself means nothing – but seeing top sport like this in Denmark is absolutely fantastic. We have an incredible show here, and the atmosphere – I’m not sure it exists anywhere else in the world quite like this. I have to pinch myself that we can host this level of top sport in Herning,” said Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour.

Third place in this year’s Grand Prix Freestyle went to Norway’s Isabel Freese with the Danish-owned stallion Total Hope OLD by Totilas/Blue Hors Don Schufro. Together they delivered a solid performance, earning a score of 81.885%.
“I had a really good feeling today. Yesterday was a bit more difficult, and it was great that he was more relaxed today. It almost feels like home riding here in Herning, even though I’m from Norway,” said Isabel Freese after today’s performance.

17 Dressage Stallions Fully Licensed
Later in the day, 17 dressage stallions aged four years and older received their final approval. The stallions were presented under saddle in KRAFFT Arena M, after which the breeding committee provided their evaluations.
The traditional Aage Ravn Trophy, awarded to the best Danish-bred stallion after passing the performance test, went to Invictus Iwe by Iron/Quaterback, bred by Iben W. Deleuran of Iwe Horses. The stallion was sold as a foal to Helgstrand Dressage.
Unfortunately, Invictus Iwe had stepped on himself prior to the presentation and was therefore spared from being ridden during the licensing. Nevertheless, the stallion was highlighted for his modern sport type, expressive trot, and a well-balanced canter with great carrying power. He also received a Breeder’s Medal in Silver.
The Champion Stallion of the dressage group was the performance test winner Daan G. by Hesselhøj Donkey Boss/Blue Hors Don Olymbrio, bred by Helene Geervliet and owned by Helgstrand Dressage and Paul Schockemöhle. The stallion won his 35-day test with 912 points and was described by the judges as very charming, well-uphill and of outstanding type.

Highlights from Stallion Show Saturday in Vechta

Stallions from Dressurpferde Leistungszentrum Lodbergen were part of Saturday´s stallion show in Vechta, and here the 2025 OLD Champion 3 yr old Barnsley by Bonds / Diamond Hit was presented for the first time under saddle.

Easy moving in a good natural balance for all three gaits, super presentation from rider Linda Schmidt. Definitely one of the young stallions to keep an eye on, including a very strong dam line. More info here.

5 yr Seraphin by So Unique / Don Romantic already proved himself with very nice foals.

Next GP stallion from Therese Nilshagen is 9 yr old Bellany by Bon Coeur / De Niro. Lately Inter II placed at national event in Ankum. 11 yr old La Vie by Livaldon / Scolari also presented by Therese.

Gut Schönweide with three highlights - Follow Up by Follow Him’s Schönweide x Diamond Hit and Follow Him’s Schönweide by Follow Me x Sir Donnerhall I. Not the most long legged stallions but natural suppleness, nice contact and frame.

8 yr old Sky is the successful cross of Sezuan with Sir Donnerhall, already proved himself at small tour level, super expressive with very nice development over the years. Now under German Bianca Nowak Aulenbrock.

Softness, balance and accuracy wins in both Gothenburg and Doha last weekend with Maria von Essen and Carl Hester

The picture of ease, balance and harmony

Winner performance for Maria von Essen with Invoice for the World Cup freestyle leg victory in Gothenburg, and Carl Hester with Fame winning both the Grand Prix and the freestyle in the CDI5 tour in Doha last weekend, proves the way of easy light and soft riding.

Both combinations are the epitome of top timing combined with light aides, soft contact, accuracy and top qualities. Many similarities for both horses and riders. Both Invoice and Fame are hot horses, both with challenges to keep the frame open when tensions creeping in. At the same time both with top abilities and qualities when it all comes together.

Reflecting on the wins is was pure harmony with the ability and top skills from Maria and Carl always being able to stay with their horses, to support without restricting, to influence without overpowering, and asking for the next movement without disturbing the balance, softness and collection already created to show pure harmony between horse and rider.

PRESS RELEASE – CDI Lier: Young riders make their debut, show with Justin Verboomen and Zonik Plus on Saturday evening

Belgium is preparing for the start of CDI Lier 2026. From Tuesday 24 February through Sunday 1 March, the Azelhof Equestrian Center in Lier will once again welcome international dressage riders. The ninth edition opens with the youth competitions and will feature a musical show on Saturday evening 28 February by European Champion Justin Verboomen and his top horse Zonik Plus.

The youth riders set the sporting tone at the beginning of the week. From Tuesday 24 February until Thursday 26 February, the international youth classes take center stage. For many young combinations, CDI Lier marks an important first international competition of the season, with the European Championships later this summer on the horizon. Several riders step up to a higher level compared to last year, including Belgian talent Jette de Jong.

“The U25 tests are really demanding”

Jette de Jong has long been regarded as one of Belgium’s most promising young dressage riders and will make her international U25 debut in Lier with Heavenly Charming, a horse with whom she previously progressed through all youth levels and achieved multiple podium finishes. “The U25 tests are really demanding, but I certainly can’t complain about how things are going at the moment,” says Jette de Jong. “Heavenly Charming is trying his heart out and the exercises are improving all the time. If we manage to keep the calm in the test, we consistently produce strong results.” De Jong is no stranger to Lier. “I’m really looking forward to CDI Lier. Last year, apart from my results, I was also very happy with the heated indoor arena. It simply rides a little more comfortably in winter.”

Show by the European Champion with live music

Although European Champion Justin Verboomen will not compete at CDI Lier, he will travel to Lier on Saturday evening 28 February. He will bring his top horse Zonik Plus for a show that has not previously been presented in this form. Verboomen and Zonik Plus made history as the first Belgian combination to win European gold at senior level, claiming both the Grand Prix Special and the Freestyle titles. The pair currently leads the FEI Dressage World Ranking and has established itself among the consistent forces in international dressage. In Lier, they will perform a freestyle accompanied by live music from Verboomen’s partner Jonatan Martinez and To The Music. The show will serve as the prelude to the following 4* Grand Prix Freestyle. Tickets are available online.
