Verdades, Dante Weltino and Lonoir stands out from today´s CDIO Grand Prix at Rotterdam

USA, The Netherlands and Sweden was the final team top 3 after today´s Grand Prix in Rotterdam.

The weather became a bit of a challange during the test today, as a thunder storm was heading towards Rotterdam, and for German Anabel Balkenhol with Dablino the heavy wind affected their test in the way that the fence around the arena just tipped over short after they started their test. Therefore judge at C, Danish H.C. Matthiesen jumped out and stoppede Anabel, so that the fence could be replaced and she could start over her test again.

Later on after the press conference the entire press center were evacuated due to the weather situation and electricity also went out.

Outstanding performance from Verdades and Graves

Outstanding with a super nice and expressive performance from Verdades and Laura Graves today. Light and easy all the way eventhough you might want to have a slightly different picture of the piaffe in the way that the picture could be a bit more closed and bit more relaxed, but easy transitions and clear rhythm all the way. Nice frame and light contact and for Verdades the weather did not seem to affect him at all. Judging panel totally agreed with Verdades and Graves in top of today´s Grand Prix.

Dante Weltino and Nilshagen showing their qualities again today

Dante Weltino and Swedish Therese Nilshagen did ones again show their strength. Lovely easy picture for the trot tour, good walk and lots of potential and good qualities for the canter work, which still lacking a bit more clear uphill tendency all the way, but what an ability this stallion has for doing the most difficult exercises with top strength and balance. The suppleness and easy light picture is the way we love dressage ano 2017.

Danish Warmblood showing super qualities

Lonoir and American Olivia Lagoy-Weltz are not just interesting with Danish Warmblood eyes but also from their lovely performance today. Lonoir is a 13 yr old gelding by De Noir / Loran (Rassing´s Lonoir - bred by Jan and Dorte Rassing).

Easy light and strong performance in very nice harmony between horse and rider. A new and very exciting international combination without any exercise weaknesses and lots of highlights.

Common for all 3 combinations - light easy and effortless performances.

Legolas not fit

Today Legolas was at start with Dawn White-O´Connor (long time assistent trainer for Steffen Peters). Dawn took over Legolas the ride back in January 2017 from Peters. It was their first apperance at the European scene. And from the first extended trot the rhythm was not clearly balanced (as often seen before under Steffen Peters), and when Dawn is going at the diagonal towards the first passage, judge (and veterinarian) at C, Danish H.C. Matthiesen rings the bell = elimination from the competition.

In many ways very sad for Dawn, but (finally) the correct decision both seen from judge at C and seen from the "side line".

Hannoveraner riding horses and foals for the auction July 14 and 15

3 riding horses and 3 foals caught most attention from H2R when checking out the entire video collection for the upcoming HANN auction i Verden, and then also a foal by jumping stallion Van Gogh which might be the next Cosmo?

The gelding with catalog no 8 by Rienzi shows nice suppleness in all 3 gaits with a nice uphill natural frame.

Catalog no 163 by Totilas / Desperados (without video) is full sister to KWPN approved stallion Glock´s Toto Jr.

Destiny OLD winner of Nürnberger Burg-Pokal qualifier but no 2 Soiree d´Amour gets the ticket for the final

A very unusual way to get the ticket for the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final

With the new combination Destiny OLD and Kristina Bröring-Sprehe at start for yesterday´s "preliminary" Prix Sct. Georg Special it looked like a kind of "easy ticket" for the final. But when a horse previously has been at start for the finals, the horse is not allowed to compete again. So therefore today ticket for the final went to Kira Wulferding with the beautiful mare Soiree d´Amour, eventhough they came 2nd scoring 76,610%.

Today Kristina and Destiny showed even more sharpness than yesterday. Impressive education and work from the former rider and owner Sandra Nuxoll. The new combination has just been together for about 3 month now. Kristina can in many ways show the Desperado son in the same way as the father. "Attacking" successfully from start to final. Destiny is showing great basic qualities in all three gaits, and Kristina is able to get optium benefit from every single exercise today.

Feliciano 7 yr old gelding with something extra - today for Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final qualifier

12 combinations ready for Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final qualifier tomorrow at Gestüt Bonhomme

It was a huge starter field for todays preliminary Prix Sct. Georg Special test for Nürnberger Burg-Pokal final qualifier.

More new combinations and also more well known combinations are competiting for a spot at the prestigious Nürnberger final.

One of today´s new combinations were Kristina Bröring-Sprehe with her newly purchased Desperados son Destiny OLD. From the scoreboard it looks like that 4 of the judges were a bit too impressed, while the last last judge had the combination as no 10 which was much the right placement also seen from the "side line".

Soiree d´Amour and Kira Wulferding showing lovely qualities, but struggling a bit with the last strength for canter pirouettes and series.

Isabel Freese and Fürst Levantino did not agree 100% from the beginning. Isabel starts with wrong route, and Fürst Levantino just into canter for the first trot at the diagonal. During the test today there are some smaller issues. But knowing Freese she will for sure be sharp for tomorrow´s final qualifier.

Today´s absolute best horse was the just 7 yr old Feliciano by Floriscount / Lauries Crusador xx with Holga Finken. Lovely expression with power and balance all the way. Some smaller "baby" issues during the test - but watch out this horse just bring something extra for the future from H2R point of view.

Qualifier for the final is tomorrow at 11.00.

Pepe not to compete at the Danish Championships

News at Kasprzakdressage.com yesterday

A preventive removal of two teeth causes Anna to withdraw Pepe from the National Championships.

Pepe is not going to defend his silver medal from last year's national championships at Broholm next month. A routine check earlier this week revealed a broken tooth that had to be removed to avoid infection. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that Pepe had two additional bad teeth in his mouth that Anna and the veterinarian agreed to remove as a preventive action.

"We all know what toothache can do to ourselves, thus this was not a difficult decision. We find that it is better to give Pepe some time now without bits in his mouth, despite that it implies that he will miss the Danish Championships, than to leave the teeth in his mouth with the risk that he will get affected later this summer, and miss the chance of being submitted to the Danish team for the European Championships. A strategy that our national chef d'équipe, Kimi Nielsen, and coach, Princess Nathalie, fortunately supports," Anna explains.

Instead of Pepe, Anna will compete Rocky in the national championship, and she also plans to bring Q for the small tour classes and her 7-year-old mare, Romanova, for the M classes at Broholm.

Stærke tyskere i junior teamkonkurrencen

Startfeltet talte alene 8 ekvipager i dagens internationale Grand Prix Special

Slutscore 71,333%.

Se resultatet af klassen her.

CDI3 Grand Prix victory for Carl Hester and also a big surprise for the demo with Uthopia at Bolesworth International today

Bolesworth International with both CDI3 dressage, national invitational dressage and young horse classes started today with CDI3 Grand Prix.

Nice weather conditions at the huge arena at Bolesworth for today´s dressage.

CDI3 Grand Prix was won by Carl Hester with Barolo. It was a quite spooky Barolo when heading towards K both outside the arena and inside, but Carl managed well an kept him nearly focused all the way, except by the ones towards K where he spookes at the end of the series. As far as they are still new together inside the white fence, it seems that Carl has found the buttons very well. Nice energy and activity for the piaffe tours, smooth supple trot and ground covering quality series. Result 74,240%, not over scored and still room for 2-4% more from H2R point of view. Barolo really looks like a top successor for Nip Tuck if needed for the Europeans.

Danish Anders Dahl brought his two international horses, Olympic horse Selten HW and Sir Donato. He was placed as no 4 and 5 with 70,360% and 69,690%. Nice supple trot tour for Selten, today lacking a bit more power and smoothness for the piaffe tours. One times with a couple of small changes hind. For Sir Donato it was also a smooth expressive light trot tour, unfortunately with expensive errors for both series today.

The other Dane back at competition after his horse Michigan recovered from an injury was Ulrik Mølgaard. Super sharp start beautiful entering halt, power extended trot, good half passes. Some tensions for the piaffe tours today and unfortunately also affecting the walk where Michigan doing some small trot steps. Lovely to see both horse and rider back fit for fight, and as Ulrik told before his ride "I´m just as excited as when I was a kind at Christmas time"

See the result of the class here.

Another high quality demo with Carl Hester

Small demo with Carl Hester in the middle and stable rider Rob with a 4 yr old gelding and Charlotte with a 6 yr old mare, and 16 yr old Uthopia as a lovely surprice.

A 4 yr old chestnut gelding by Everdale / Vivaldi was shown by Hester stable rider Rob. Here Carl told about what he was looking for when purchasing a youngster, which qualities were the most important. The gelding was purchased as a 2 yr old on video, and from that video the canter was outstanding Hester told, and still is. Super balance, self carriage and natural uphill tendency with power hindlegs and lightness in the forehand making round expressive frontlegs. And to Carl it´s all about the details being able to have the horse which among others gives the best final picture for the expression and quality of the series and pirouettes.

The 6 yr old bay mare River Rice Nisa by Negro / Amsterdam, caught H2R attention when watching her and Dujardin for the first time at the British Winter Championships (read H2R news from April here). Also today the mare showed something speciel, eventhough it looked as if she was a bit affected from the atmosphere. A power mare for the big future.

Uthopia back in the arena for the demo

16 yr old Uthopia came into the arena with Alan Davies walking him, and Charlotte went in the saddle. Carl told about how thankful he is to the lady who bought Uthopia back at the auction wanted him to retire at Carl´s place, and who still wants to remain anonymous. Uthopia is ridden 3 times a week now, and is now also available for the breeders. "He’s done one extended trot in the last eight months, but they only have so many extended trots in them, so we don’t practice them all the time, but he’s come out here and done about five now”, Carl said.

Last class for today was a national invitational Intermediaire I freestyle

Here Charlotte Dujardin rode Hawtins Delicato 9 yr old gelding by Diamond Hit. Lovely supple expression with power, and the huge walk seems to be in the best hands, as this gait now has clearly improved since last time H2R saw him. Small issue in transition from collected walk to canter where Delicato looked as if he just wanted to do some more advanced work (passage), but Charlotte managed to go on and got the transition for canter. They won with 74,750%.
