4th part CDIO Grand Prix in Aachen

Yes Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD won with impressive 83,171%. Weihegold did from the "side line" look a bit more round, and from the start one might ask for a bit more, but if the feeling at the beginning is that something "lacking" with a bit limited extended trot and bit cautious half passes, then you just have to lean back and enjoy every single passage / piaffe / passage including transitions - this is just impressive. And the way Werth manage to finish every single exercise is truly a study worth - no doubt left.

Laura Graves and Verdades were at the paper the hardest competitors for Werth, but today with some tensions for the piaffe tours and error for the two times series, put the American combination down to the second place with 79,514%. Today´s most beautiful halt with rein back and lovely sit and control for the pirouettes.

Danish Cathrine Dufour and her Danish Warmblood Atterupgaards Cassidy came in 4th place individual with 77,414%. Eventhough the mood before entering looked a bit tense Dufour had the control the entire test, and Cassidy was very focused about the job. The way Cathrine is able to present and execute every single exercise just make the full picture of what dressage is all about. Only small things are the entering halt with a bit of tension and the half passes where you could ask for a bit more crossing and suppleness in the body, but very well balanced with nice power.

Swedish Patrik Kittel and Delaunay showed one of their best performances to date with 74,686% individual no 6. Much better uphill open frame, great passage / piaffe / passage tours with smooth transitions, well managed canter tour with nice series.

Spanish Severo Jurado Lopez with Deep Impact were showing great form and a test without any technical errors. Some moments with a bit of tensions, but where Severo with his experience chose for example to let Deep travel slightly forward in the piaffe tours and the keeping the flow without any issues. Well performed canter tour good series, super zig-zag canter and nice pirouettes. Scoring 73,971% indidual no 8.

3rd part CDIO Grand Prix in Aachen

3rd part again with strong German in top. Not surprisingly Cosmo and Sönke Rothenberger showed high class scoring 78,757%. Lovely picture of controlled power combined with top qualities of the exercises. Today Cosmo was 100% focus on the task and you could feel that Sönke really could ride the Grand Prix the way he planned it. Extreme extensions, power passage, good piaffes, forward attacking series and good pirouettes. Please to watch.

Swedish Therese Nilshagen and her Dante Weltino did a great job. Small disturb out of 2nd piaffe, Dante starts himself with the two times series and Therese must stop him to correct and then being able to do 4 two times  - a costly error. Bit unbalanced zig-zag canter, super 2nd pirouette and nice easy final. 71,157%.

Danish Agnete Kirk Thinggaard and Jojo AZ shows a very well timed test without any errors. Easy piaffe and passage tours with additionally nice transitions. Nice series, bit unbalanced 2nd pirouette and nice final centerline. 72,157%. They really stamped their position at the Danish team for the upcoming Europeans.

Dutch Patrik van der Meer and Zippo showing a nice test with natural forward power and good motivation. Very stable quality throughout the test and without any technical errors. 72,414%

2nd part CDIO Grand Prix in Aachen

Second part again with best performance from a German combination. Hubertus Schmidt and the Trakehner stallion Imperio topped the 2nd part with a not very impressive score of 71,371%. Starting with a big disturb at the diagonal for the extended trot with clearly off the bit. Today´s piaffe tours were all very limited as they were all lacking activity. Canter pirouettes are lacking more sit and balance on the hind quaters. Not really the same power and expression as we´ve seen them before.

Unfortunately tensions ones again took over for the lovely combination Buriel K.H. with Swedish Juliette Ramel in the saddle. Scoring just 63,229% it looks like they´ve put themselves in a difficult situation for a team spot for the Europeans.

Spanish Jordi Domingo Coll and his 10 yr old Mango Statesman showed themselves in a good way. Mango is still lacking the routine and last strength for the demanding Grand Prix, but nice flow without pressure.

Experienced Smeyers Molberg and Marcela Krinke-Susmelj did not show their best test. The big Deutsche Bank arena and atmospfere is still affecting the 16 yr old Michellino son for some parts of today´s test.

Danish Anders Dahl and his Olympic partner Selten HW were not really in the mood for the piaffe tours today, or Selten wasn´t. All 3 piaffe tours became quite limited with lack of energy and flow. The over all picture for the trot tour was smooth with go. Small unbalance from collected walk into passage, and small disturb in the subsequent passage tour. Super two times, a single small change hind by zig-zag canter, and again a single small change hind by one times. Well balanced canter pirouettes. Total score of 68,886%.

American Casey Perry-Glass and her Danish Warmblood Gørklintgårds Dublet had a very unfortunate blow going towards the first canter pirouette, where Dublet makes transition to trot and just keep un troting. Casey just makes a turn without trying to do the pirouette, but then just starts in canter again and continues towards the flying change at X and the next pirouette.

1st part CDIO Grand Prix in Aachen

Best combination in the 1st part was German Dorothee Schneider with Sammy Davis Jr. scoring 74,529%. Lovely light picture eventhough you might wish for a bit more closed frame from hind, and also the ability to take more weight for the pirouettes. Error free test with top timing from experienced Dorothee Schneider.

Adrienne Lyle and her young Salvino did a good test. Salvino looked a bit impressed from the atmosphere from the huge arena. Lovely power for piaffe / passage and transitions - 71,814%.

Swedish Malin Nilsson and her Bon-Ami looked quite unimpressed from their new surroundings. Over all picture with nice harmony and over view, no technical errors. Only small thing is the transitions into piaffe lacking more activity and 1st part of piaffe also a bit quiet, but becomes every time better - 70,557%. They really look like a new Swedish team member.

Danish Daniel Bachmann Andersen and his just 9 yr old stallion Blue Hors Don Olymbrio showed an error free test with a nice focused young stallion. Of course still lacking the last strength for the demanding piaffe/passage tours and pirouettes. For sure a great experience and good performance from this up-coming Danish combination - 68.614%.

Very sharp CDI4 field

Extra interesting to follow todays competition via live stream at Clipmyhorse, as former Olympian rider German Heike Kemmer also was at the commentator box. Lots of nice comments and additionally with her long time part of the Hanoverian breeding commitee, she also added some interesting comments about how some stallions stamps their offsprings.

Danish combinations

First to go was Danish Anna Zibrandtsen and Arlando. Lovely over all picture, easy and supple. Superb piaffe / passage tours with smooth transitions. Good relaxed walk, but you could wish for more over track. Good canter tour without any technical issues, but after both the 2 times and the 1 times there are some tensions hind. 70,700% and placed as no 7.

Ones again Danish Anna Kasprzak and Donnperignon showed that they are in for the top placement at the big international competitions. With "just" 18 yr of age it looks like the team around Pepe are 100% focused about the management, and he still looks both top fit and motivated for the job. Today they finished as no 3 with 74,320 (placed 1 with judge at E German Evi Eisenhardt).

Damsey and Langehanenberg beats Emilio and Werth

Since a very long time Werth has been unbeatable no matter what horse she showed. But for the first time she showed a kind of "weakness", if you can talk about weakness when mentioning Isabell Werth. But facts today were more minor issues combined with errors in both series, and seen from the side line, they could easily have been placed behind Pepe and Kasprzak.

Helen and Damsey has really found each other. Helen manage to bring the best and the most easy picture from Damsey all the way. Ex the 1st piaffe where you could wish for a bit more, but for sure Helen knows and feels how much she can ask for. Small lost of a step into the first passage. Rest of the test is both with suppleness and high qualities - well deserved win today with 75.900%.

Danish Anna Kasprzak and Quarton takes the Prix Sct. Georg victory in Aachen

14 starters for today´s Prix Sct. Georg in Aachen

Danish Anna Kasprzak and SWB Quarton by Quaterback / Don Schufro were 3rd to go. The big arena seems not to impresse the 8 yr old gelding with his experienced rider in the saddle. It certainly doesn´t look like their just 2nd international competition together.

Anna really starts out in a very convincing style, super power and expression from both rider and horse. For the first shoulder in / volte / half pass exercise Quarton seems to be slightly tilting his head in the volte. Good quality of all 3 gaits with power. The walk tour with the first pirouette where Quarton loses a single step, nice relaxation for the extended walk with good stretching of the neck. Active canter, the end of the zig-zag with a change with parallel hind. Super nice half pirouettes in the canter with good sit and balance. Super series. Well deserved victory with 72,237%, and still plenty of room for more points.

Today´s field of competitors did count more international riders with small tour horses, so it was a very interesting class to follow, as this also shows "what to come" one day for the big tour.

Placed 2nd Spanish Juan Matute. He is riding a controlled nice test without any major issues, but at the same time the test also lacking some high lights.

3rd Helen Langehanenberg with the chestnut mare Brisbane. And today Brisbane looked a bit chestnut, not that motivated and with the ears in a bit of "it doesn´t matter" position, but experienced Langehanenberg makes her do all the things with just issues for the one walk pirouette and the one canter pirouette.

4th Escolar with Hubertus Schmidt, seems to lack a bit of focus in the arena, but Schmidt manage quite well as always.

5th Kristina Bröring-Sprehe and her new Desperados son Destiny are struggling a bit with the correct balance from H2R point of view. For the collected trot work Destiny often becomes a bit heavy in the hand and sometime a bit hind the verticle.

6th Sönke Rothenberger with the just 7 yr old Sankt Anton. Seems that Sönke not really want let go today, and most of the test is quite cautious. Looking forward to see the couple in the future.

82,500% Grand Prix Freestyle win for Glock´s Zonik and Edward Gal (video)

The just 9 yr old Danish Warmblood stallion Glock´s Zonik with Edward Gal made their entry at the national Dutch championships in style winning the gold medal yesterday.

Zonik will not be a part of the Dutch team for the upcoming European Championships in Gothenburg, as Gal will bring his more experienced Glock´s Voice.

The Dutch team for the Championships is:

  • Glock´s Voice - Edward Gal
  • Cennin - Madeleine Witte-Vrees
  • Glock´s Johnson TN - Hans Peter Minderhoud
  • Four Seasons - Diederik van Silfhout
  • reserve: Apache - Emmelie Scholtens

Danish Warmblood stallion Glock´s Zonik Dutch national champion together with Edward Gal

The lap of honor looked like it would never end. The Dutch spectators really enjoyed cheering on "King Edward" as the announcer named Edward Gal.

Superb result for the just 9 yr old Danish Warmblood stallion by Zack / Romanov, bred by Linette Jæger.

Today´s freestyle final with some issues for all the top combinations. Both Zonik and Johnson were struggling with errors in series, Cennin with isssue by a trot exercise when cantering and Apache being a bit stallion like for the spurs before entering.

From the "side line" the horses looked a bit tired in general, but for the Dutch team this was final competition before entering the centerline in Gothenburg, so they have plenty of time to recover.

Kittel the king of Falsterbo Horse Show 2017

Rainy day in Falsterbo for the CDIO Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix freestyle

Very small field for Falsterbo Nations Cup with a clear victory for the Swedish team, Patrik Kittel with Deja, Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén with Paridon Magi and Rose Matthiesen with Zuidenwind.

In the Grand Prix Special Tinne and Rose were dominating, both scoring 72% today, and from Tinne´s public withdraw for Don Auriello for the upcoming Europeans, her best and 2nd card Paridon Magi will for sure now be Sweden 2nd team member. And even before Aachen, the two spots left for the Europeans must be for Therese Nilshagen with Dante Weltino, and from H2R point of view this year´s "joker" from Sweden could easily be Kittel stable rider Malin Nilsson with Bon-Ami for the final European spot.

Kittel and Deja stood out from the other competitors showing a lovely freestyle, and ones again being able to improve and show more relaxed piaffe tours. Just a single small issue crept into the 2 times series. And the freestyle music for the elegant dancing Deja with the tones of "isn´t she lovely" from Stevie Wonder. The transitions in the music throughout the test are all way super smooth into the coreography. Winning score 79,375%. Kittel also took CDIO5 Grand Prix individual victory with 75,100%, while he took both CDI3 Grand Prix (73.540%) and Grand Prix freestyle (78,225%) with his new hope the 9 yr old mare Well Done.

Russian Tatyana Kosterina with her 9 yr Diavolessa VA by Don Frederico/Londonderry - actually not a flashy or impressive combination, but following them from first to last halt in today´s Grand Prix Special, there are just so many great moments of good qualities. Diavolessa has 3 very good gaits, and seems to be without exercise weaknesses. They entered the international scene earlier this year in Lier in Belgium, and rescently they won CDI4 Grand Prix in Hamburg with 72,300% - a combination to keep an eye on for the future.

The 3 Danish combinations Allan Grøn with Wasabi, Karin Nissen with Eno - both in Grand Prix Special and Malene Kohlschmidt with Mira in freestyle were today struggling with to many errors and tensions today.

Results HANN auction 14 & 15 July

2nd most expensive became one of H2R favorites no 8 by Ribery C sold for 47.000 euros.

Foals

Most expensive foal became the full sister of KWPN approved stallion Glock´s Toto Jr by Totilas / Desperados. This filly was sold for 32.000 euros to British Emma Bundell, Stud Mount St. John.

KWPN young horses nominated for WCYH in Ermelo

The 6 best combinations from 5 yr, 6 yr and 7 yr old are nominated for Ermelo.

The big arena and atmosphere has now been tested for all the young Dutch horses nominated for the WCYH taking place at the same venue from 3-6 August. Without doubt a nice advantage before entering for the World Championships.

5 yr old

Watching the winner Henkie under Adelinde Cornelissen, it looked a bit like a challenge before the start signal, as Henkie both had very big eyes and then suddenly started to refuse going forward, luckily Adelinde kept this issue under control during the test.

Henkie showing nice easy trot with good activity of the ground, superb walk with nice freedom and over track. Very nice power for the canter. Technical the walk pirouette is shown in a high tempo lacking more centering. For both transitions from canter to walk, the exercises are shown with transititon through 2 trot steps and not clear with transition to walk. Last transition to trot is very late.

Both Hannelinde and Habibi lacking qualities for the walk tour.

6 yr old

Adelinde Cornelissen and Governor showing a very well balanced test. Easy supple in all 3 gaits, a small issue before 2nd walk pirouette and hind aides for 1st change, but nice through. Looks like a very rideable stallion and very interesting for the upcoming World Championships.

7 yr old

Kirsten Brouwer and Ferdeaux showing a nice trot tour in good balance, good walk, transition to canter from walk becomes a bit stocked. In general the canter could show more volume, becomes a bit flat. Nice canter pirouettes, 1st change for 4 times series is not clear.
