2017 statistic facts about horse2rider.com

According to the traffic source analytics, supplied by our web site provider, the number of unique visitors went up 20,4% in 2017.

• 52% of all visits came from social media - meaning that especially Facebook and Twitter are great tools for readers to get news from web sites like H2R, as these platforms serves as kind of a “gateway to quality content” applications.
• 40% of all visits came from the group of regular H2R readers using bookmarks directly, readers who probably prefer getting their daily news fix whenever they have the time during the day.
• The rest of the visitors came from searching online for specific dressage- or breeding related information then ending up reading related news or articles on H2R.

A supportive fact to the way I like to thing that readers want to read news is, that more than 65% of all visits in 2017 came from mobile devices (smart phones). A number which by the way increases year after year. And as with my self I think that most of the H2R readers likes to be instant updated during the day - and not by reading day-old news a few days, or even weeks, later.

Now where do they come from, the readers?

Even though I have spent almost a decade living in the Southern Spain I can´t deny being Danish. And probably therefore app half of the H2R readers comes from Denmark – the rest being a fine mix of dressage nerds from mainly the European and Scandinavia countries and a large part from the USA as well. Australia, Asia and the middle east are also represented and even some of the more exotic destinations around the world has found way into the statistics - which probably just proves that dressage persons also likes to read news during their holidays.

KWPN stallions invited for 2nd viewing at the main licensing in Den Bosch

It is as usual a huge collection going through to the main licensing, and when it comes to the sharp decisions from the KWPN breeding commision, they are normally also very focused about the performances from the damlines. 

The videos show the stallions in both trot and canter, and they gives them enough time to be able to show themselves. From the walk at the videos it is often a bit difficult to evaluate the real quality.

Huge list of stallions for stallion Gala at KK Cup Wednesday 10 January at 19:00

Exciting list of both new licensed young stallions and older stallions for the first stallion presentation in 2018.

KWPN Stallion Show comes up Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd February with dressage stallions

126 colts getting ready for the Dutch national KWPN main licensing taking place from 31 January to 3rd February at s´Hertogenbosch. 

As usual H2R will try catch the most interesting stallions from the entire collection.

Last Dutch stallion competition today at Zuidbroek - Fürst Jazz brings something extra (video)

Class L

Fürst Jazz (born 2013) by Fürst Romancier / Painted Black ridden by Dideriek van Silhout just bring something extra. Top modern look, super obedient, supple in the body, nice natural frame, lovely balance and 3 very expressive gaits. But not enough for today´s victory seen from the judges. They ended up as no 3 with 84 points, while In Style and Imposantos shared the victory with 85 points. 

Class M

Today´s winner at class M Total US by Totilas / Sir Donnerhall with Dinja van Liere were not as convincing as the judges saw them.

H2R comments: Total US with Dinja van Liere scoring: Walk 9,0 - Trot 9,5 - Canter 8,5 - Harmony 9,0 - Over all impression 9,0. Lot of praise from the judges, but from H2R point of view clearly over scored today. All 3 gaits lack more natural push from behind, and for the trot tour he does not stay up in a natural self carriage frame and for the turns he needs riders support to keep the balance.

In general the qualities of Dutch the stallions were very nice today. Gonna be exciting to see them for the finals at KWPN stallion show in s´Hertogenbosch.

Helgstrand Dressage now with stallion station in Germany

News at Helgstrand Dressage today

Shortly before New Year Helgstrand Dressage was able to reveal in its Christmas greetings with highlights for the year that Helgstrand, is now ready to go for another exciting chapter for Helgstrand Dressage, a stallion station in Germany.

2017 has been another year with high demand for semen from our top stallions. "In order to meet the growing demand from Germany in particular, we have chosen to establish a stallion station at Dr. Ulf Möller, who together with his wife, Eva, has a base at Center Sudenhof in Hagen", says a proud Andreas Helgstrand.

It is not long ago that Helgstrand Dressage opened a department in Wellington, USA, and now they can take another exciting step into the world with the stallions in Hagen. "We have not yet determined which stallions should be in Hagen, but it is particularly important for us to point out that semen can be ordered from all stallions, wherever they stand," Andreas says.

To be responsible of the new stallion station in Hagen, Helgstrand has chosen Michael Schmidt to be the new manager, who until recently was employed by Gestüt Peterhof. The stallion stalion opens the doors on February 1st.

Implementering af reglen om næsebåndets stramhed (med H2R noter)

Nyhed på DRF i dag

På baggrund af resultater fra Dansk Ride Forbunds omfattende udstyrsundersøgelse har forbundet besluttet, at indføre en grænse for næsebåndets stramhed gældende i alle discipliner fra årsskiftet. Det er vigtigt for DRF, at reglen implementeres i god og konstruktiv dialog mellem officials og ryttere, og derfor vil officials blive undervist i implementering af reglen i forbindelse med officialdagen 14. januar 2018.

Dialog er vejen frem

Undersøgelsen, der forventes offentliggjort inden udgangen af 2017, viser en tydelig sammenhæng mellem stramme næsebånd og forekomsten af mundlæsioner hos stævneheste, og DRF ønsker ikke, at brug af udstyr i sporten medfører læsioner i hestens mund. Målet er, at implementeringen skal foregå i god og konstruktiv dialog mellem ryttere og officials, og derfor bliver der afholdt en workshop i forbindelse med officialdagen den 14. januar 2018, hvor vi vil orientere TD’erne om baggrunden for reglen samt instruere dem i, hvordan den skal implementeres og evalueres.  

Effekten og implementeringen af reglen vil blive evalueret i november 2018. Undersøgelsen blev foretaget på 3.000 danske stævneheste i stævneårene 2014 og 2015, og hensigten er at gentage den om et par år for bl.a. at følge på, om efterfølgende tiltag har haft en effekt.

Evaluering november 2018, med gentagelse af undersøgelsen indenfor et par år. (Evaluering bør være efter kortere tid, og mon ikke Næsebåndsreglen finder vej til et særskilt punkt på dagsordenen til DRF Repræsentantskabsmøde som finder sted 21. april 2018. Forslag skal være indsendt inden 1. februar 2018)

Synspunkter fra international rytter og national rytter omkring næsebåndsreglen

I England har firmaet Fairfax Saddles taget udgangspunkt i hestens anatomi og nervebaner, for der igennem at udvikle det mest komfortable og biomekanisk korrekte udstyr til hesten. 

Den internationale dressurrytter Henriette Andersen fortæller følgende:

"Det største problem ligger for mig i hvor DRF vil måle "stramheden" af næsebåndet. Der ligger ikke nogle nerver på næseryggen hos hesten, men de store nerverbaner ligger på hver side af næseryggen, hvilket for mig er det rigtige sted at stikke fingeren ind.

Så vidt jeg ved er Fairfax de eneste der har lavet test med presset under trense, hvor jeg selv har været har været med i testperioden, som iøvrigt var super interessant og lærerigt. 

Jeg ser beslutningen fra DRF som et forsøg på at løse et problem, uden at have tilstrækkelig viden på området. Tag til hvilket internationalt stævne, og du kan ikke få 1.5 cm ind under noget næsebånd, men det betyder absolut ikke, at alle heste går med alt for stramt næsebånd.

Den danske 1,5 cm regel er det samme som at sige vi ikke må ride med næsebånd," slutter Henriette Andersen. 

Helle Wibe, fra Wibe Dressage skriver følgende på Facebook opslag i går:

"Nu handler DRFs undersøgelse som har givet reglementsændringen jo om sammenhængen mellem stramt næsebånd og heste med deraf følgende hul i munden. Husk der ligger allerede fra tidligere en regel om at næsebåndet ikke måtte være for stramt, nu har DRF imidlertidig pga. undersøgelsen ( vi håber stadig den bliver publiceret) indført tallet 1,5 cm løshed målt over næseryggen - for stramme næsebånd har jo ikke været tilladt i længere tid. Reglen har bare ikke været håndhævet særligt strikt, jeg har aldrig set en TD er kontrollere næsebånd til stævner tidligere.

Artiklen handler ikke om hestens velfærd den ønsker alle hesteejere da selvfølgelig, men om reglementsændring der udspringer af en undersøgelse der ikke er blevet publiceret som DRF lovede tilbage i oktober, og hvad bliver fremtiden for os til stævnene? Og jeg ville personligt gerne se og have den måleenhed der gør at man består testen, og PS jeg rider ikke med for stramt næsebånd og iøvrigt kun få stævner," slutter Helle Wibe.

Skal stramt næsebånd virkelig udløse en straf, når der ikke er tegn på skader i munden på hesten?

Næsebåndsregel fra DRF træder i kraft på mandag

Har stormen lagt sig, eller tier og sammentygger man bare på en regel som ikke har været diskuteret og gennemprøvet af dem som rent faktisk har ansvaret, og som er uddannet til at lære både hest og rytter betydningen og effekten af samspil og harmoni, ihvertfald når vi taler dressurens svære kunst.

Hvor er beviserne for at der er tydelig sammenhæng mellem stramt næsebånd og hul i munden? Undersøgelsen er stadig ikke offentiggjort. Hvornår er næsebåndet stramt eller for stramt? Og når TD´eren har konstateret at næsebåndet er for stramt (mindre end de 1,5 cm), og hesten ikke har hul i munden, så er det stadig strafbart. Er hele snakken om stramt næsebånd ikke affødt af hul i munden? Hvorfor er fokus så ikke 100% på hul i munden, for det er et reelt problem. Ingen skal have lov til at starte stævne på en hest/pony med hul i munden. 

Et tænkt eksempel kunne være når reglen håndhæves til mesterskaber, og man eksempelvis ikke kan godkende 1,5 cm reglen på næsebånd hos en DM vinder og/eller de efterfølgende topplacerede = en diskvalifikation. Det ville vel reelt betyde at landstræneren ikke kunne gøre brug af den/de ekvipager i internationale mesterskaber, eller hvordan ser billedet ud i den sammenhæng?

Fakta er at 1,5 cm reglen træder i kraft på mandag.

• Der har været afholdt indledende møde mellem DRF og DRIF, uden konkret aftale, men med aftale af nyt møde i januar 2018.
• Der afventes stadig pressemeddelelse fra DRF efter indledende møde.
• Hvilke måleenhed skal anvendes til at kontrollere de 1,5 cm?
• Er der taget stilling til opfølgende undersøgelse med baggrund i indsamlet erfaring fra TD´erne efter evt. 3 måneder?
• Undersøgelsen som ligger til grund for regelændringen har aldrig været offentliggjort. Del af tidligere pressemeddelelse fra DRF:

H2R favorites

No 4 - nice supple through the body, and the moment he shows more relaxation for the walk it is with good quality. 

No 22 - natural uphill and light of the ground, with 3 good basic gaits. Interesting horse for further education. 

No 23 - nice type with supple movements. At the moment the walk looks a bit to big, but for sure a horse with nice potential.

Youngsters

It is always difficult when you have this kind of presentation of the young horses with just trot by the hand. But no 19 would be interesting to see a bit more of.

Some difficulties with the series for today´s CDI4 Grand Prix Freestyle in Mechelen (video of winner)

Young Belgium Jorinde Verwimp and her 17 year old gelding Tiamo took today´s CDI4 Grand Prix freestyle victory.

From the start of their test it actually did not look that promissing, as Tiamo refused doing the first piaffe, and you could easily see from the expression of Jorinde´s face that this wasn´t in the plan. But from that first exercise not shown, Tiamo seem to be in the mood for doing the rest of the job with good qualities. Like nearly all the other competitors today´s series were also with error, but Jorinde manage to re do the ones without error but still with some tensions. 

Also Patrik van der Meer and Zippo were struggling with the series today, as both their two times and one times were with errors. 

Begium Isabel Cool was also showing two horses, Freedom TC for small tour and Aranco V for the big tour. Both horses very well presented with nice power and light satistied contact all the way.

Danish Carina Cassøe Krüth and her 14 year old Danish Warmblood mare were placed as no 7 with their Grand Prix freestyle debut, showing high light with pirouettes and piaffe/passage work today.

Patrick van der Meer did also take the victory in today´s CDI4 Grand Prix at Mechelen

A couple of bigger issues became very expensive for the home crowd favorite Begium Jorinde Verwimp with her long time partner Tiamo, and at the same time experienced Dutchman Patrick van der Meer was able to show his test without any technical issues.

Unfortunately both former Dutch team members Danielle Heijkoop and Adelinde Cornelissen were struggling with their piaffe tours, as neither Badari or Zephyr seems to really have found the rhythm and understanding of the real piaffe steps. 

Danish Carina Cassøe Krüth and her 14 yr old Danish Warmblood mare May-Day Graftebjerg made their first international performance outside Denmark with a very nice balanced test showing nice qualities, just until the beginning of the one times series. As Carina confirmed after her ride, May-Day was pretty sure that this direction towards the diagonal was the signal for an extended canter, and Carina was struggling until after passing the centerline to convince May-Day about the one times instead. And the subsequent first pirouette becomes bit unbalanced and tense, like also the extended walk was lacking more relaxation. They ended up as 1st not placed with 67,900%. Nice overall correct and light picture. Exciting combination to follow for the future. 

H2R comments during the class: 

1st - Zippo NED - good start, half passes lack bit bend and crossing, good halt with rein back, bit unbalanced passage hind, small issue out of piaffe, good walk, good 2nd piaffe, good 2 times, bit unbalanced zig-zag, 1 times need more uphill trend, good pirouettes, good final, pull right hind bit more up in passage than left for some moments.

2nd - Tiamo BEL - good start, half passes could be with bit more carriage, bit high neck out of nice halt with rein back, good transition to passage, good piaffe, need bit more clear flow for 2nd part of passage, good walk, good 2nd piaffe / passage, error 2 times, error end of extended canter bucking/naughty, unbalanced zig-zag, error/tense hind begin of 1 times, good pirouettes, nice final centerline.

3rd - Badari NED - bit running extended trot, nice supple half passes with good crossing, becomes bit strong in the riders hands for passage, lack transitions in and out of piaffe and very limited 1st piaffe, good walk tour, does not really catch the piaffe rhythm, good 2 times, full risk extended canter, good zig-zag, nice 1 times, good control for pirouettes, nice passage, pity with today´s transitions and piaffe.

CDI4 Prix Sct. Georg from Mechelen this morning

Prix Sct. Georg victory for President´s First Apple and Patrick van der Meer this morning. The just 7 yr old stallion by Vivaldi/Partout is of course still lacking some more strength, and for the canter tour he seems to lack more natural go and forward search, as both pirouettes becomes bit hind the riders aides and Patrick has to encourage him a lot to stay in front of his aides for the series. Nice trot tour and today´s best walk tour. 

Placed 2nd was Danielle Heijkoop with the lovely 9 yr old long legged mare Daula by Gribaldi/Michelanglo. Top expression and suppleness for the trot tour in a lovely light frame and good walk. The canter tour still lacking bit more relaxation and volumes, but for sure an exciting combination for the future. 

No 3 became Kastar Hof Ter Zeedycke d'12 with Jorinde Verwimp. Might be the worst name for horse for a journalist or a speaker to pronounce 😁. Jorinde brings some valuable experience and shows a nice balanced trot tour with good power and flow, bit tense walk tour. The canter quality is good, for both pirouettes they become with a bit to much sit and Kastar becomes a bit hind the riders aides. Nice quality of the series.

NYHED PÅ VARMBLOD.DK I DAG

Der er godt og vel 10 uger til, at Dansk Varmblods Hingstekåring med avl, sport og gallashow løber af stablen den 7.-11. marts 2018, og den endelige tidsplan får du her.

Dansk Varmblods sekretariat og hingstekåringsudvalget har lagt sig hårdt i selen for at skabe en tidsplan for hingstekåringen til bedst mulig gavn for alle brugere af arrangementet – gæster, hingsteejere og ryttere m.v. Det har resulteret i en tidsplan, der giver rig mulighed for at følge én linje, hvad enten man er mest til det avlsfaglige eller det sportslige, og om man brænder mest for dressur eller springning.

– De danske hingsteholdere har udtrykt ønske om, at hingstene vil blive vist i longe før løsvisningen, hvilket vil betyde, at de inden løsvisningen har akklimatiseret sig og har fået brændt toppen af deres energi af og dermed ikke bliver for overgearede under løsvisningen. For at højne niveauet under løsvisningen vil der i år blive tilknyttet et par beridere til at hjælpe piskeførerne med at få hver enkelt hingst mest hensigtsmæssigt igennem løsvisningen, fortæller direktør Casper Cassøe.

Esben Møller fra hingstestationen Blue Hors sætter pris på, at sekretariatet og hingstekåringsudvalget har lyttet til hingsteholdernes ønsker. Han synes, det er rigtig positivt, at hingstene gennemgående skal vises i samme hal, og at de lørdag får en fridag inden den afgørende kåring søndag.

– Det gør en væsentlig forskel, at hingstene bliver longeret, inden de vises løse. På den måde får de lov til at krudte af, og det medfører en betydelig mindre risiko for, at de kommer til skade, når de er løse i hallen. Jeg tror faktisk også, at det optimerer avlsledens mulighed for en ordentlig vurdering, når hingstene ikke er for vilde. Jeg er meget positiv overfor det, udtaler Esben Møller.

Vælg din egen linje

Dansk Varmblods hingstekåringsudvalg har gjort sig umage for at opfylde så mange ønsker som muligt for brugerne af arrangementet, og et gennemgående ønske fra hingstekåringens besøgende er, at det bør være lettere at finde rundt i tidsplanen og få lagt sin egen strukturerede plan for, hvad man helst vil se.

Det tilgodeses blandt andet ved, at hele fredag i KRAFFT Arena M byder på hingsteaspiranter fremvist i longering og derefter løse i hallen. Der er afsat primetime-sendetid til præsentationsklassen for dressurhingste fredag i Boxen og igen lørdag eftermiddag. Tilsvarende præsentationsklaser for springhingste får super sendetid i Danish Computer Group Arena E, hvor der forventes fuldt hus. Det sker fredag efter løsspringning og lørdag inden den store Grand Prix-springning.

– Hele tidsplanen er udarbejdet under hensyn til, at besøgende ønsker at kunne følge én linje, fortæller direktør Casper Cassøe.

Til gengæld har hingstene helt fri om lørdagen, indtil hingstekåringsprogrammet genoptages søndag med de helt store højdepunkter som frasortering og kåring i Jyske Bank Boxen.

Let at finde rundt i

Den røde tråd i hele planlægningen er altså at give publikum mulighed for at vælge deres egen linje og i videst mulig omfang finde de samme arrangementer i samme haller. Således vil Unghestechampionat alle dage finde sted i den samme hal, og det gælder både for dressurhestene i Blue Hors Unghestechampionat i Boxen og for springhestene i Katrinelund Unghestechampionat i KRAFFT Arena M. Testrytterdelen for dressur- såvel som springhestene ligger nu lørdag formiddag og præcis i samme hal, som hestene har gået de øvrige dage.

– Vi mener, at der er mange positive elementer i den nye tidsplan, der gør det meget nemmere for brugerne at finde rundt og følge præcist det, de ønsker. Det er også nyt, at man endnu ikke ved, om hingstene opnår kåring, når auktionen starter. Det er naturligvis noget, vi har haft med i vores overvejelser, men vi håber og tror ikke, at det får nogen afgørende betydning, slutter Casper Cassøe.
