No battle between Werth, Graves and Dufour for the World Cup final

Skærmbillede 2018-03-05 kl. 13.08.50.png

The Danish federation were aiming for a wild card for Cathrine Dufour with Atterupgaards Cassidy for the World Cup final, as they won the 1st leg at Herning last October and then lately they also won the leg at Gothenburg.

Unfortunately the answer from FEI was negative, as the results from Cathrine are not into the rules for allocation of a wild card.

Nanna Merrald og Sådan Que vinder af U25 Grand Prix kür i dag i Lier

qb.jpeg

Se resultatet af klassen her.

Stærke danske præstationer i går i Intermediaire I og Intermediaire kür i Lier

Intermediare I

Intermediaire I kür

Jovian winner of 2-days stallion performance test in Verden with impressive 9,01 (total result list of 4 yr old stallions)

Jovian (2014) by Apache / Tango - photo: Helgstrand Dressage

Jovian (2014) by Apache / Tango - photo: Helgstrand Dressage

Jovian scoring: trot 9,5 - canter 9,3 - walk 7,5 - ride ability 9,5 - over all impression 9,0 = 9,01

Some of the comments from the judge today:

"It is a pleasure to comment a stallion with such high basic qualities and powerful movements. From yesterday with own rider we wanted to see the stallion opening more up in the frame, and together with the test rider Philip Hess Jovian responded very well to advices from Oliver Oelrich. The trot is with top potential if you want to collect he collects, and if you want to extended the frame he bring the nose forward with good use of the topline. Much uphill and off the ground. The canter is always with clear 3-beat in a closed uphill frame, and with ability to extended. The walk lack bit more suppleness, but could with a more open frame be able to improve the walk. The test rider found the horse easy to handle, light and easy for the aides. A horse with huge potential for the sport."

A huge CDI4 Grand Prix class at Lier - home soil win for Jorinde Verwimp with her Olympic horse Tiamo

35 combinations at start for today´s Grand Prix

The class started at 15:15 and last combination had start time at 21:52, between with two normal breaks and a dinner break for 45 minutes.

Local Jorinde Verwimp with Tiamo did not surpricing take the victory. During her test they had some minor issues with the letters at the corners away from the judges tables. The first half pass to right was lacking some more clear flow and balance while the left one becomes with better flow. The piaffe and passage tours were at a good level with nice steps and activity. Final transition at M is late. Well deserved victory with 73,217%.

2nd was the powerful Lusitano mare Batuta with Spanish Sergio Martin Palos in the saddle. No techinal issues, but a bit of tensions for some moments and you could wish for a bit more open neck.

Two Danish combinations

Charlotte Heering has her now 17 year old Joker Selection back in the arena after a very long break suffering from lamenitis. He looked top fit. They start out with a not so good entering halt but from there they manage well, just with a couple of extra changes between the pirouettes. Unfortunately Joker seems to find it enough when going into the final piaffe where he rears and does not show the piaffe. Very expensive final.

Lone Bang Larsen and Bakkely´s Onandt were ready for their international Grand Prix debut and they were well prepared from a couple of successful Danish shows. But the fact that the corner where the VIP tables are, just a the moment when Lone was riding, were cleaned from the dinner buffet, was just too much for Onandt to keep him focused on the job in the arena. So all the way with every single exercise going into that corner/area was unfortunately not successful.

The 10 year old chestnut mare Daula by Gribaldi with Dutch Danielle Hijnkoop show a smooth and supple trot tour in a lovely frame, good walk with a bit big pirouettes, good canter tour with more relaxation as we saw then last time. Well balanced canter pirouettes and the series were ok, but with a couple of changes a bit small hind. Final winner score 72,941%.

2nd was Belgium Olympian rider Jorinde Verwimp with 8 yr old gelding Kastar Hof Ter Zeedy. They were show a nice active trot tour with nice supple half passes. The collected walk becomes a bit tense in the body while the extended walk was shown with super nice relaxation and over track. Good quality of the canter, unfortunately both canter pirouettes are lacking a bit more collection and balance, and after the first pirouette Kastar changes un the way out but Jorinde manage to correct him. Nice series. Score 71,441%.

Best placed Danish combination became the new Blue Hors rider Nanna Merrald with Gørklintgårds Quater Boy. They were placed as no 5 with 69,853% for their international debut today. Super expressive and well balanced trot tour with supple half passes and lovely balance for both volte. Good collected walk and unfortunately Quater Boy loose a step for the first walk pirouette, the extended walk lack bit more relaxation and over the back. Super smooth canter tour with nice balanced pirouettes and very nice expressive series.

Danish Charlotte Heering and her 12 year old blank mare Pearl Black by Painted Black / Negro did their international debut scoring 68,441% placed as no 8. Starting with a bit open halt, nice flow in the trot tour but showing a bit of tensions, at the end of extended trot at the diagonal. Bit of tension for the walk pirouettes as the extended walk could show a bit more relaxation. Super sit for pirouettes with good balance, small change after 2nd pirouette. By the 3 times Black Pearl take the last change by herself after just 2 strides.

Press release

For many years, there have been amateur tournaments in show jumping and with focus on the joy that these tournaments have led to, Almased Wellness and Helgtrand&Trabjerg have now chosen to join together to create the first amateur tournament for dressage equestrians; Almased Dressage Amateurs.

We have decided to create an equivalent of the great show jumping tournaments for amateurs in order to give dressage equestrians the same opportunity to participate at the big tournaments as well. We are sure that the participants will have an extraordinary experience when they are having the opportunity to participate in the same top professional surroundings as some of the world's best dressage equestrians, says the founder of Equitour Aalborg and former national coach of show jumping, Jens Trabjerg.

We are incredibly proud that Almased Wellness has chosen to support the project. We think, that Almased Dressage Amateurs is a great initiative to help dressage equestrians on their way to an international career. The tournament can help to clarify the rider's level before seriously relying on an international career in the dressage sport. At the same time, we think that the locations for the tournament mean that more people from the north can test their current level without having to invest a lot of money in transport. International dressage competitions have so far been for a limited group of people, but we want to change that, adds Jens Trabjerg.

Almased Wellness is a German company that has developed products for the health of humans - products that has achieved great success throughout the world.

It has always been part of our company policy to support sports both locally and internationally. We have developed health products that many athletes use, so when the chance offered to support the first dressage tournament for amateurs, there was no doubt that this project was within our area of interest and thus a natural way to support our business, says Anette Witthöft from Almased Wellness.

About Almased Dressage Amateurs

Almased Dressage Amateurs is a new international dressage tournament for amateurs organised by Helgstrand&Trabjerg and presented by Almased Wellness. In 2018, the tournament will take place at four shows; Deutsches Spring- und Dressur-Derby (9-13 May), Pfingstturnier Wiesbaden (18-21 May), Equitour Aalborg (23-27 May) and World Cup Herning (17-21 October).

Allowed to participate in the tournament are dressage equestrians at the age of 26 or older who are not on FEI's world ranking list. The tournament is limited to 24 equestrians for each show, and each rider must bring up to 3 horses.

The tournament is divided by level into the following categories:

  • Bronze tour: Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I
  • Silver tour: Intermediate I and Intermediate II
  • Gold tour: Intermediate II and Grand Prix

Vidste du at norske JJ Horses bl.a. er Norges største avlsstation? Did you know that Norwegian JJ Horses among other is Norway´s biggest breeding station? (UK VERSION BELOW)

  • JJ Diez Colibri (e. Don Romantic/Caprimond) / Secret
  • JJ Dolce Gabbana (e. Deemster/Riccione) / Secret
  • JJ Donna Summer (e. Don Schufro / Sandro Hit) / Franklin
  • JJ Jackie O. (e. Jazz / Lauries Crusador xx) / Springbank II
  • JJ Saga ( e. Sandro Hit / Donnerhall ) / Springbank II
  • JJ Farah Diba (e. Furstenball / Davignon) / Revolution
  • Feine Freia V. ( e. De Niro /Feiner Stern) / Revolution
  • Heidenberg Roma (e. Romanov / Zuidhorn)  / Valverde
  • Midt-West Silke (e.

Ialt 11 føl i 2018."

Avlsstation

UK VERSION

Ole Jørgen Jørgentved and Ole-Marius Johnson. Photo credit: Ridehesten/Thomas Bach Jensen.

You will often see the name JJ Horses if you follow Facebook, but also when your watching result lists from both competitions and breeding.

JJ Horses is based at Jørgentvedt Gård at the beautiful Norwegian Mysen, which is approx. 1.5 hours drive from Gardermoen Airport in Oslo.

H2R caught Ole Jørgen for a more facts and informations about the business, and not least the great results over the years.

Ole Jørgen tells:

"The company JJ Horses is breeding of dressage horses (primarily), and at the same time it is Norway´s largest breeding station."

"JJ Horses has been developed systematically over the last 20 years. JJ Horses is owned and run by Ole-Marius Johnson and myself Ole Jørgen Jørgentvedt. I am a vetenarian myself."

Own breeding - the foundation is 3 Midt-West mares (very well know Danish breeding line)

"Back in 1983 I breed with a Swedish imported mare. Since then, our breeding has been with Danish Warmblood mares, with a huge impact from German bloodlines. The foundation in our breeding program today is into just 3 mares from the Danish stutteri Midt-West lines, which we imported into Norway back in 1998. The mares were by Donnerhall (born 1993), Davignon (born 1996) and Caprimond (born 1992) respectively - and all 3 are through their own qualities for breeding recognized as elite mares, Donnerhall mare and Davignon mare in Danish Warmblood and Caprimond mare in Norwegian Warmblood. Of the 3 mares, we only have 1 left, namely the Davignon mare born in 1996. She is among other dam of the Danish Warmblood gold medal mare JJ Filippa (by Fürstenball) and she is expecting a foal for this season by Fürstenball. This foal will probably be her last foal, and with her we will close a chapter in our breeding history. Of course our entire breeding program today is with roots in these 3 mare, now through 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation mares, which are part of our breeding program. The 3 mares and offsprings from them has been successful in many ways as medal mares, 2 licensed stallions and a Nordic junior Champion in dressage. (JJ Rocco / Nanna Merrald)."

"The main focus at JJ Horses is sale of horses, and the offsprings we are producing are usually sold as foals or youngsters. Many of the horses are sold to clients here in Norway, but we also have customers from all over the Nordic countries, as well as Germany, England, the United States and Australia."

"In addition, we have also purchased quality foals and youngsters at auctions in Denmark and Germany. We think we have been "lucky" with the purchases we´ve made at Danish Warmblood Elite auctions, as the quality offered is very high. We have bought 5 foals at Danish Warmblood elite auctions, and it has resulted in 3 licensed stallions, 1 mare for the main stud books with rideability test and dam of a licensed stallion, and 1 participant for World Championship for Young Horses. In 2008 we bought a premium stallion at the Hanoverian auction together with Karen Helene Gjerde. He was named JJ RayBan (by Rascalino), and was licensed in Norway, Denmark and Sweden the following year. JJ RayBan became performance test winner, young horse championship winner - and later sold to via Jan Brink to Hannell Dressage in Sweden."

"For a number of years, we have offered our clients professional traning at JJ Horses. This part we have stopped as our own breeding program has increased, and we have a lot of mares for our breeding station. Instead we now have a very good collaboration with Noagård at Zealand, Denmark (Jan Møller Christensen and Sophie Christensen), where we sent our horses in training and education. A cooperation we are very pleased with, and that works super well!"

In 2018 we are expecting 9 dressage foals:

  • JJ Diez Colibri (by Don Romantic/Caprimond) / Secret
  • JJ Dolce Gabbana (by Deemster/Riccione) / Secret
  • JJ Donna Summer (by Don Schufro / Sandro Hit) / Franklin
  • JJ Jackie O. (by Jazz / Lauries Crusador xx) / Springbank II
  • JJ Saga ( by Sandro Hit / Donnerhall ) / Springbank II
  • JJ Farah Diba (by Furstenball / Davignon) / Revolution
  • Feine Freia V. ( by De Niro /Feiner Stern) / Revolution
  • Heidenberg Roma (by Romanov / Zuidhorn)  / Valverde
  • Midt-West Silke (by Davignon/ Mago xx) / Fürstenball

"In addition, we have 2 jumping mare in partnership with the Norwegian rider Dag Ove Kingsrød (Kingsland and Kingsrød Trading). Her we expect a Cornet Obolensky and a Diarado foal this year."

"A total of 11 foal for our 2018 season."

Breeding Station

"In numbers, we are Norway's largest breeding station. We inseminate about 400 mares a year, 50% riding horses and 50% trotters. About half of the mare are inseminated with frost semen, and we import both fresh semen and frozen semen from all over Europe We import semen from leading breeding stations in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. In Norway, the mare is often inseminated at home by the owner, as there are long distances. In addition, there are special rules here in Norway, that say that insemination can only be done with a veterinarian and at an approved breeding station, which means that the mares for frozen semen has to come to us to be inseminated, and many of the mares stay with us until they are pregnant. We have customers from all over the country, like those who live the furthest away is about 500 kilometers. The breeding with riding horses in Norway is not very big, there are about 250 mares every year, and for this part we cover about 75-80% of the total breeding market of riding horses in Norway."

"There are 2 approved breeders' associations for riding horses in Norway. The one is Danish Warmblood Norway, in which I`m chairman of, is where we have close and good cooperation with the board of Danish Warmblood in Denmark. Over a period of 10 years a total of 300 foals have been registered in Danish Warmblood Norway, and the same number of mares has been graded."

"Each year we organize mare grading and foal championship (Føllfestival). This event is well-attended by both the Norwegian breeders and foreign guests, and foals are selected for the Danish Warmblood Eliteshow, and we (JJ Horses) have won the title "fiily of the year" 3 times (2011,2012,2014) " concludes Ole Jørgen.

Lately a lot of stallion stations held their stallion presentations from Landgestüt Celle, Sosath, Gestüt Tannenhof, Peterhof, Gut Neuenhof, Ludger Beerbaum, Dressage Grand Ducal, Böckmann and Marbach.

Overall highlight of all stallions was the presentation of Escolar together with Hubertus Schmidt.

And for the breeders it is really worth a closer look at the archive at Clipmyhorse. It is very easy to find the dressage stallions and have quick look.
