Both Helgstrand Dressage and Blue Hors were showing their stallions abroad yesterday

4 stallions from Helgstrand Dressage were shining at stallion show today in Helsingborg

For the Swedish stallion show Simone Pearce has taken over the ride of Grand Galaxy Win and Springbank II VH, as their daily rider Severo Jurado Lopez was busy showing D´avie and Botticelli at Helgstand stallion show in Germany.

Quaterhit with Kenneth Damgaard showing lovely balance, expression and balance, and the new combination Kenneth and Franklin seems really to fit each other.

The stallion show from Sweden is available at the archive at Clipmyhorse.

"Open House" at Hagen

In Hagen Helgstrand Dressage stallions invited for "Open House" where about 500 people attended in the sunny spring weather.

The German stationed stallions For Sure, Valverde (video below together with Eva Möller), Jovian, So Unique and Don Deluxe were of course shown, and from Denmark the stallions Ferrari OLD, For Emotion, D’avie and Botticelli were also shown.

Blue Hors stallions at Hengsthaltung Martin Determann

Also Blue Hors stallions has been abroad this weekend, as Daniel Bachmann Andersen showed Blue Hors Zackerey, Blue Hors Emilio and Allan Grøn showed Blue Hors St. Schufro, Blue Hors Fifty Cent, Blue Hors Farrell and Blue Hors Londoner, while Blue Hors Rockefeller was shown by hand at the stallion show at Martin Determann in Germany.

Double victory for British Emile Faurie with Dono Di Maggio in Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special at CDI3 in Aachen (video)

It was a kind of "ghost arena" in beautiful weather at the Deutsche Bank arena in Aachen, as you could hardly not see any spectators. But still the competition was good eventhough it was not CHIO mood.

The 11 year old gelding by Dimaggio / Santander H made his debut last year in July together with Emile Faurie and since then we haven´t seen them.

It was a very smooth and nice "come back" showing two effortless tests with just an error for the one times in the Grand Prix, and Dono Di Maggio suits Faurie very well. Nice natural suppleness, good piaffe/passage and nice series.

Today Adelinde Cornelissen and Aqiedo came 2nd with 71,745%. They show a very controlled test with nice expression and good balance. Today´s test with just a small error for the 15 one time tempies.

Final day at 14 days stallion performance test

When having the chance to follow the young stallions at the performance testing, here just the final day, but still having the possibility to see the qualities from daily training, instead of ex. at shows, the picture of the young horse becomes much more clear.

For this 14 days test more of the very interesting stallions from last years licensings were represented.

Is this the way the breeders, owners and riders wants to see a 3 year old top horse presented after 2 weeks testing?

It is far from a positive impression that this testing leaves. Nearly all the stallions are lacking clear balance, very few of them are actually able to carry themselves, and most of them looks stiff and unmotivated.

The final day is available via the archive at Clipmyhorse.

Judge for yourself when watching the performance test winner which is also last autumn´s OLD champion stallion Benefit by Belantis / Sir Tender (video below).

When you have your favorites (video of River Rise Nisa with Charlotte Dujardin)

Skærmbillede 2018-04-17 kl. 18.39.42.png

Last weekend Charlotte Dujardin took all the titles posible with her talented and extremly well prepared young horses at NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships.

Again this year the now 7 yr old mare River Rise Nisa by Negro / Amsterdam / Abgar xx won her class, and eventhough the changes at the long side could have showed more clearness it is still H2R favorite next top horse for Dujardin.

The mare is bred by Sarah Tyler-Evans, and owned in partnership between Sarah Tyler-Evans and Charlotte Dujardin.

Grand Prix for Grand Prix freestyle

Today´s winner Finnish Henri Rouste with the 13 year old Roccabar by Riedinger / Compliment. Supple expressive big mover, for a few moments a bit unbalanced for the trot tour, but without any technical errors. The piaffe tours becomes a bit wide hind, but at the same time lovely expression from the side showing his long supple frontlegs. Score 71,413%.

Diavolessa VA with Tatyana Kosterina were placed 3rd with 69,696% and showed a solid test without any major issues. A bit more power and expression would for sure also be reflected positively at the scoreboard.

Sascha Schultz and his portuguese stallion Dragao were placed as no 5 with 69,109%. Unfortunately the overall picture becomes a bit about dropping the pole. At the entering halt Dragao becomes behind the verticle, but still a clear 7 from all the judges. Sascha manage quite well for the trot tour to keep him up (but not out with the nose, but still ok up), but for the entire canter tour except the pirouettes, Dragao becomes very short in the neck and drops the pole for most of the time.

No 15 today was Adelinde Cornelissen with Zephyr. It became a test with more spooky moments and unfortunately also with today´s biggest differences between the judges, as the Danish judge Lone Dichmann saw the test at 69% and German Katrina Wüst saw the test at 61%.

Finished as no 16 were Fabienne Lütkemeier and Fiero. They were struggling with the piaffe tours today as they were just missing implusion, beat and activity.

Nice quiet but still a bit grey Danish spring weather for more than 500 people attending yesterday´s Open House at HP Horses in Hillerød.

Lovely facilities, beautiful setup for the day with among other champagne and small special made HP Horses cakes for the audience.

A warm welcome from Lone Bøegh Henriksen herself telling a bit about the program for the day, and not least that she was actually wearing spring colors, as green is the color of the hope associated to her newly acquisition the stallion Total Hope.

As usual Per Springborg, owner of Stutteri Springborg was in charge of the running comments and informations about every single horse, and for the day Dennis Fisker, pro rider, young horse judge and Danish national coach for junior and young riders was doing the comments about the horses shown under saddle.

Fürsten-Look, Delizia, Dollar Girl, De Bryune, Best of Mount St. John and Be my Beauty Queen H2R highlights of the day

High qualities combined with the best bloodlines including huge success for both sport and breeding is the stamp of the collection from HP Horses.

Great to be able to se the handsome and very well moving Fürsten-Look which now has become much stronger, and recently very successful at German national S-level.

The super mare Delizia by Fürstenball/De Noir from Lotte Liv Kulle and Anne Tronsegaard, was shown by HP Horses rider Maria Falkner Hansen, as Anne was unable to take part herself as she was at a wedding. 20 minutes in the saddle before showing her for the audience. This is just a very special mare. (video below)

The full sisters De Bruyne (2 year old stallion) and Dollar Girl (3 year old mare) by De Niro/San Amour also brings something very special, like the 3 year old Best of Mount st. John by Fürst Romancier/Bordeaux/Sir Donnerhall I. She is now going to Germany to be prepared for the mare performance test where Wibke Hartmann-Strommel is going to show her.

FEI press release - America’s Laura Graves chases her right to the line

In a dramatic conclusion to an extraordinary battle between two mighty forces, Germany’s Isabell Werth (48) posted a back-to-back victory at the FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final 2018 in Paris, France today.

America’s Laura Graves (30) and Verdades put all the pressure on the defending champion when pinning her into runner-up spot in yesterday’s Grand Prix, so in this afternoon’s deciding Freestyle Werth had it all to do to put that behind her and come back out fighting. But with her trademark steely determination, the phenomenal athlete produced a pristine performance to see off the challenge and lift the coveted trophy for the fourth time in her incredible career.

It was right down to the wire however, and she knew that the slightest error was out of the question when second-last to go. Graves had already posted a massive score of 89.082 which, the US rider admitted, surprised even her. “I knew anything was possible. I knew it would take a score like that to possibly get a win and it was a huge personal best for me!” Graves said.

However Werth mustered all the skill and experience of a lifetime to squeeze her rival out of pole position with the winning mark of 90.657. She described yesterday’s Grand Prix defeat as “motivating“, and simply used it to spur herself on to better things with the help of team coach and manager, Monica Theodorescu. “Like I said yesterday I was not really disappointed or sad, I was just thinking about how I had to prepare for today and how I had to make it better and analyse what went wrong. So Monica and me, we decided to go in the big warm-up arena today, to bring her (Weihegold) forward and to make her free again, and that worked, and today she was the horse I wanted to show yesterday.”

"This is life, a lot of people think it’s easy, you win and you win again, but it’s not like that. You have to think about it all the time and keep listening to your horse. Yesterday was not our day, but today we could solve it. And this is what I really like to do, and that’s the reason why I love to compete!"

Isabell Werth (GER)

And today’s result was another reminder of the continuing resurgence of the German Dressage powerhouse, with Werth’s compatriots Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (Unee BB) and Dorothee Schneider (Sammy Davis Jr) slotting into third and fifth places. Von Bredow-Werndl’s success was at the expense of Sweden’s Patrik Kittel who, as always, had the crowd right behind him when producing another one of his toe-tapping performances with Deja but who just missed a place on the podium when having to settle for fourth.

Graves threw down something of a challenge at this evening’s press conference. “I never practice my Freestyle as much as my other tests, so I think now I have a bit of homework to do and I think there are many more points to be earned in the future”, she said, so she is clearly marking Werth’s card for the next time they meet.

Today however the lady taking centre stage was one of the great role models in the sport whose accomplishments are so many they may never be matched. Werth is taking great satisfaction from her fourth FEI World Cup™ Dressage title, not just because it’s another success but because of the way she achieved it.

“To have experience is an advantage if you use it in the right way, and I think we did that from yesterday to today,” she said. “After a lot of years in the sport you know how many things can happen, how things can change very quickly. It gives you the confidence to go in the ring and to try your best - you know what your horse can do and you know what you can do. This was just a great day today!”, said the happy German star.

Result:

1. Weihegold OLD (Isabell Werth) GER 90.657

2. Verdades (Laura Graves) USA 89.082

One big miss out for H2R prediction for today´s top 5 was Swedish Patrik Kittel with Deja. And also underestimated Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Unee BB. Verdades and Weihegold as predicted in the top battle, while Glock´s Zonik was lacking the last routine, and Blue Hors Zack with Daniel Bachmann Andersen showed great form and finished as no 6.

FEI PRESS RELEASE - It looks set to be “the Laura and Isabell Show” in tomorrow’s title-deciding Freestyle

America’s Laura Graves pinned defending champion Isabell Werth from Germany into runner-up spot in today’s Grand Prix with a personal-best score from her gelding Verdades at the FEI World Cup™ Dressage 2018 Final in Paris (FRA). (FEI/Liz Gregg)

Laura Graves (30) has been threatening the supremacy of German superstar, Isabell Werth (48), for some time now and today, when it really mattered, the American pinned the most medalled athlete in the history of equestrian sport into runner-up spot in the Grand Prix at the FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final 2018 in Paris (FRA).

Riding her beloved gelding Verdades, Graves was runner-up to Werth and her brilliant mare Weihegold at the 2017 Final in Omaha (USA) a year ago, and a few months later they actually pipped the German duo on Werth’s home turf in Aachen so there was always a question about whether they could do it again. This afternoon they proved that indeed they could, as the big horse she calls “Diddy”, and who she has owned since he was a foal, carried the Florida-based rider to a personal-best winning score of 81.413 with a performance that just oozed everything that’s great about a long-established partnership.

But when Graves was asked at this evening’s press conference how it felt to have Werth sitting beside her in second place, she replied -

"it feels very scary, especially with such a fierce competitor because I know she’s going to ride even harder tomorrow!"

Laura Graves USA (1st)

and she’s probably right about that. Werth didn’t flinch when asked what it was like to be runner-up for once - “well since we are in France I just say, c’est la vie!” she replied. But all joking apart you could tell that today’s defeat may well be turned to her advantage, because this is a lady with ice in her veins.

She had to follow the US rider into the ring so the pressure was on, and although Weihegold’s piaffe and passage work was as spectacular as ever there was a lack of concentration and the mare didn’t respond to her rider’s leg aids as she normally would in canter. “It’s nothing serious, it happens and it makes it quite exciting! I didn’t plan it like this, but we will try to make it as hard as possible for Laura tomorrow!” Werth said after posting a mark of 78.261.

When asked if she had made the right decision about which horse to bring to Paris, since she could also have chosen to defend her title with her gelding Emilio, she giggled and said “when I call him (Emilio) tonight he will laugh and say it’s your fault that this has happened!”. But Werth pointed out that Emilio is scheduled for the forthcoming outdoor season, “and that’s why I took Weihe here, and I hope tomorrow we will show that it was the right decision”.

German riders Jessica von Bredow-Werndal with Unee BB and Dorothee Schneider with Sammy Davis Jr claimed third and fourth places, while Sweden’s Patrik Kittel finished fifth ahead of young Dane, Daniel Bachmann-Andersen with Blue Hors Zack, in sixth.

However tomorrow’s Freestyle competition, which will decide the fate of the 2018 title, looks set to be a fascinating clash between just two mighty forces - the rising American star who took team gold and individual fourth place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and who was only five years old when Werth won the first of her three FEI World Cup™ Dressage titles in 1992, and the German legend whose six Olympic, five World Championship and nine European gold medals are only the tip of the most extraordinary iceberg.

It’s game on - and it’s going to be a fascinating finale. Don’t miss a hoofbeat!

Result, Grand Prix:

1. Verdades (Laura Graves) USA 81.413

2. Weihegold OLD (Isabell Werth) GER 78.261
