Beatrice and Delgado winner of CDI-W leg at home soil tonight in Madrid
Enthusiastic audience for World Cup Dressage the first time in Madrid
Top routine and high degree of difficulty for Spanish Beatrice Ferrer-Salat with her 17 year old Delgado.
Today’s biggest smile was definitely from Spanish Claudio Castilla Ruiz when performing his top test with Alcaide.
Hans Peter Minderhoud struggled going into the one times where Zanardi seems to misunderstand the aides and goes into trot, and Minderhoud has to do a circle to get into the canter again and continue for the one times. Costly error today which kept him off the podium.

Another international debut win for Werndl and Famoso OLD today
Benjamin Werndl and Famoso OLD winner of Deutschen Bank Preis, Grand Prix Special. Foto: Sportfotos-Lafrentz.de
9 year old Famoso OLD with international Grand Prix Special win
“I have a very special horse with Famoso OLD, and it is now up to me to continue this development”, Benjamin Werndl told after today’s international debut Grand Prix Special victory with impressive 76,766% on home soil in Olympiahalle in Munich.
Lovely test with lots of natural power and energy, tiny tensions for the first two piaffe tours, and a few tensions behind for the canter tour in the corners, otherwise a smooth easy test with great expression and go all the way.

Total list of OLD auction prices - most expensive stallion sold for 180.000 euros
Top price - sold for 180.000 euros
VIDEOS - Danish Warmblood with both Champion stallion and Main Premium Champion stallion in Vechta today
Gigabyte - the new OLD Champion stallion
Even though the new OLD Champion stallion is registered in Oldenburger Verband, it is very much Danish Warmblood, as the entire dam line is Danish Warmblood, and the stallion is bred by long time Danish Warmblood breeder Henrik Hansen.
Gigabite as the stallion is named showed himself with convincing qualities from the first step over all the days and was from day 1 the Champion stallion.
Oldenburgs Breeding Director Dr. Wolfgang Schulze-Schleppinghoff about the Champion Stallion: “This son of Grand Galaxy Win T is a very successful mix of the best dressage bloodlines in Europe. The black stallion has developed excellently since the pre-selection. His movement, especially that he showed during lunging, is not much better. In the trot he has shown impressive dynamics and enormous power from the hind leg. His movement trough the body is nearly perfect, so we could only honored this with a 10,0. A correctly made stallion, nice in the type characteristic, from which we will hopefully see many offspring."
During the stallion licensing HH Horses and Helgstrand Dressage sold a part to Paul Schockemöhle, and Gigabyte will in 2019 be stationed at Schockemöhle in Germany.
Blue Hors Zackerey - pure Danish Warmblood product of best qualities
Premium stallion and rewarded with Danish Warmblood breeders medal of gold, and now as first ever Danish Warmblood stallion the new Main Premium Champion.
Blue Hors Zackerey is bred by Tove and Ove Møller Nørgaard and owned by Stud Blue Hors. Zackerey is right now under education by Blue Hors rider Daniel Bachmann Andersen.

Very close race for today's CDI4 Grand Prix victory in Munich - great international debut for Famoso and Benjamin Werndl
Just 0,5% between victory and 2nd place today
Today’s international Grand Prix for Grand Prix Special became a very close race.
Not unexpected Hubertus Schmidt showing a very strong performance with the young stallion Escolar this morning in Munich. Nothing seems to be a challenge during the test, and Hubertus is able to adjust whenever it is necessary. Easy and effortless with a happy athlete.
International 75% debut for Werndl with Famoso OLD
Today’s big surprise and with Benjamin Werndl with his also just 9 year old gelding Famoso OLD by Farewell III. They just entered the international Grand Prix scene with a solid well performed and expressive 75,413% test today. Lovely power expression all the way, nice suppleness through out the test, just a small issue for the zig-zag canter. Super nice piaffe / passage tours, nice activity and balance, nice series and good pirouettes.
The overall picture was very confident and with huge overview.

OLD stallion licensing with showing on hard surface and lunging today
Favorite from H2R - no 68 by Grand Galaxy Win / Don Schufro / Rawage Quintus
Day 1 at OLD licensing with presentation on hard surface and lunging of the stallions
Lunging of the stallions - dressage stallions starts with catalog no 40. Unfortunately there is no video of one of the highlights no 50 by Diamond Hit / Fürst Heinrich / Don Schufro (Weihegold OLD).
No 56 by Floriscount / De Niro / Matcho AA showed himself with very nice balance. Looks like a top price for the auction.
From the stallions which we haven’t been able to watch before no 68 by Grand Galaxy Win / Don Schufro / Rawage Quintus looked like a top stallion. Super expressive, modern, long legged and supple mover. Bred by Danish HH Horses, and owned by HH Horses & Helgstrand Dressage. He will not be at the auction.
Also no 81 by Veneno / Don Romantic / Sandro Hit showed great qualities for the lunging today.
The two other “Danish” stallions showed themselves very nicely - no 42 by Bon Coeur / Caprimond, bred by Stutteri Atterupgaard, and Danish Warmblood no 80 by Sezuan / Don Romantic, bred by JJ Horses. No 80 will be available via the auction.
Tomorrow at 2 p.m. the dressage stallions will be presented free, and later with the announcement of the licensing.

First Dutch stallion competition with Jameson RS2 (video), Imposantos and Hermes as winners
4 year old Jameson RS2 by Blue Hors Zack / Negro with Marieke van der Putten in the saddle continues his success. Yesterday winning with a total score of 92 points - walk 8,5 - trot 9,0 - canter 10 - harmony 9,0 - total impression 9,5. (From H2R point of view the 10 for the canter is not as obvious as rewarded).
5 year old Imposantos by Wynton / Krack C with Bart Veeze winner with 89 points - walk 9,0 - trot 9,0 - canter 8,5 - harmony 9,0 - total impression 9,0. (From H2R point of view over all picture is lacking more lightness and self carriage).
6 year old Hermes by Easy Game / Flemmingh with Dinja van Liere winner with 87 points. Unfortunately it was not possible to hear the individual marks. But an over all very nice balanced test, showing very nice half passes and super easy flying changes.

Second consecutive win in current series for defending champion; Germany scoops top three places
She has won everything there is to win in her sport, many times over, but there was a huge sense of achievement for Germany’s Isabell Werth (49) when she steered Bella Rose to victory in the third leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2018/2019 Western European League at the German Masters in Stuttgart (GER) today.
"This was her last show before her injury four years ago, so to come back today and to win like this is something special!"
Isabell Werth (GER)
said the super-champ who scooped double-gold with the 14-year-old mare at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2018 in Tryon, USA two months ago.
On a day when Germany dominated the podium as Werth’s Rio 2016 Olympic gold-medal-winning team-mate, Dorothee Schneider (49), finished second with Sammy Davis Jr and 2013 FEI Dressage World Cup™ champion Helen Langehanenberg (36) lined up third with Damsey, spectators were treated to a feast of top sport. And the fourth-place finish for Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Blue Hors Zepter was another highlight. Not only was the 10-year-old stallion competing in his very first World Cup competition but he was also doing his very first Freestyle test, yet he was relaxed, confident and full of promise for even greater things to come.
From the outset there was a big buzz in the Schleyer Halle, with The Netherlands’ Emmelie Scholtens and Desperado, who finished last of the 14 starters in yesterday’s Grand Prix, bouncing back to set the standard with a nice pathfinding test at 75.365. Marie Emilie Bretenoux and the expression-filled Quartz of Jazz from France kept spectators spellbound with their intriguing floorplan for a mark of 75.225, and then seven-time Olympian, Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmson Silfven, pushed the target score up to 79.670 with the veteran Don Auriello.
But Germany’s Benjamin Werndl was the first-half show-stealer when, last before the break with the 14-year-old gelding Daily Mirror, he carried the crowd through a test that oozed energy and excitement to throw down a new marker at 80.340.
With extraordinary accuracy and control, Langehanenberg went into the lead when posting 81.470 when fourth-last to go, and she was still out in front when Bachmann Andersen put 81.190 on the board. But it was compatriot Dorothee Schneider’s 81.840 that Werth was chasing when last into the arena. And she nailed it by a considerable margin, posting 85.660 despite one major blip.
"She was a bit tense in the canter work and I got behind the music, so I had to push it and that was the reason for the mistake in two-tempis!"
Isabell Werth (GER)
But as the athlete who has collected eight World Championship and six Olympic gold medals pointed out, “she was brilliant again for the rest of the test. The piaffe/passage couldn’t have been better and her half-pass extensions were super!” she said, and that was borne out by the number of maximum scores she earned from the judges which put the result beyond doubt.
Today was some busy day for the defending series champion who will be going for a back-to-back hat-trick of wins, and her fifth in total, at the Final in Gothenburg (SWE) next April. It began with a practice ride at 06.00 and then a win riding Emilio, with whom she topped the qualifier in Lyon (FRA) two weeks ago, in this morning’s German Dressage Masters before flying to Northern Germany for an awards ceremony and then rushing back to compete in this afternoon’s FEI World Cup qualifier.
Werth however seems to thrive on pressure, and she really wanted to show the home crowd that her precious mare is back to her best after that long four-year injury break during which she was patiently nursed back to full health. “It was a special situation and a special atmosphere here today, the arena was absolutely full of spectators and a lot of horses were tense and spooky, but Bella Rose was fantastic, she really wanted to give everything, she was just brilliant!” Werth said.
The Western European League series now moves on to Madrid (ESP) next weekend.

The Otto-Lörke-Preis is rewarded to the best 8-10 year old Grand Prix horse in Germany. This year well deserved honor for Dorothee Schneider with Faustus. It was the forth time for Dorothee Schneider winning this prestigious title.

The piaffe machine for today's World Cup freestyle victory
Bella Rose and Werth with strong performance and still room for improvement
Not much to add, but this makes dressage so much fun to watch.
Comments during the test for Bella Rose and Isabell Werth:
Bella Rose GER - wauw full piaffe pirouette start at the centerline, better extended trot today more forward relaxed flow, coming back from power extension up into passage, ease and uphill lightness for half passes, super walk tour, transition to piaffe on the spot, bit tense picture for canter now, pirouettes lack bit more sit, error 2 times, super active 1 times, going from power extension again to passage, piaffe pirouette like a machine - just put in the coin and do the stuff. 85,710%
Sammy Davis Jr and Dorothee Schneider placed 2nd today (81,840%) and Damsay FRH with Helen Langehanenberg 3rd (81,470%) - super close with Blue Hors Zepter and Daniel Bachmann Andersen 4th (81,190%).
From the sideline it did definitely not look as if Sammy Davis Jr and Dorothee was able to push Daniel and Zepter off today’s podium. And what a World Cup debut for this young combination.
Comments during test for Blue Hors Zepter and Daniel Bachmann Andersen:
Blue Hors Zepter DEN - strong start extended trot, super passage, small lack of balance piaffe turn at C, lovely half pass, nice piaffe turn at A super sit, uphill power half pass, easy passage with nice piaffe and smooth transition into a very nice walk tour, good canter pirouette small step to the side at end, super nice pirouette small step out with parallel hind, super 2 times, looked a bit like Daniel was asking for 1 times and "late" reply from Zepter but successful series, small stumble final extended trot, bit tense piaffe turn, super halt. 81,190%

Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén and her Don Auriello showed strong form for the trot tour, lacking bit more power for canter today.
Cathrine Dufour with her young Bohemian became a bit hot today, but this is a horse for the very big future.
Comments during test for Bohemian and Cathrine Dufour:

Huge imprint from young Danish combinations for today’s World Cup Grand Prix qualifier
Bella Rose with Isabell Werth - photo credit: Lily Forado
Hot lady
Bella Rose was a bit on fire for today’s Grand Prix, but Isabell Werth just knows how deal with such “small” things.
H2R comments during the test:
Bella Rose GER - bit unsteady halt, bit hectic 1st diagonal, expressive light half passes, good halt with rein back, bit tense extended trot, super transition to passage, super passage, active piaffe at the spot, easy transitions, good walk tour, lots of power off the ground for 2nd piaffe, bit hectic 2 times, superb extended canter, small unbalance end zig-zag, hectic 1 times but top managed, 1st pirouette need bit more balance on hind legs, 2nd better, good transition to trot, superb final centerline, open halt. 81,826%
Blue Hors Zepter and Daniel Bachmann Andersen - photo credit: Thomas Bisgaard
Second to go and also second placed was Danish Daniel Bachmann Andersen, this time with the just 10 year old Blue Hors Zepter - what an outstanding debut at World Cup for this combination.
H2R comments during the test:
Blue Hors Zepter DEN - super halt, super expression diagonal, nice swing half passes with good crossing, superb halt with rein back, super transition to passage, nice passage, lovely timing for 1st piaffe, nice transition, super walk tour nice relaxation, good transition to passage, expressive passage, easy 2nd piaffe, super 2 times, nice lengthening of frame for extended canter, nice zig-zag, bit tense start of 1 times but successful, super pirouettes with sit and control, nice transition to trot, power extension, super passage, superb final piaffe, wauw final passage to final halt. 76,826%.
From H2R point of view definitely not a difference of 5% from Werth to Bachmann.
Daniel Bachmann Andersen after his test:
“Zepter was really really nice in the arena, of course I still have to “help” him a bit, but for sure just a question about getting more routine in the big arenas. He has no weaknesses and I really feel that he is settling more and more down during the test today. It is such a privilege having so many great horses.”
Bohemian with Cathrine Dufour - photo credit: H2R
Less experienced and youngest horse
Another fantastic achievement from Danish top rider Cathrine Dufour, this time with international World Cup Grand Prix debut with her just 8 year old Bohemian by Bordeaux.
Bringing a young horse at this age to this level just takes a lot of effort, but for sure the horse must bring a lot of natural talent combined with a rider who knows the way to get there, and for sure not to make any unnecessary pressure. This picture is made with the finest outcome from Bohemian and Dufour today.
H2R comments during the test:
Bohemian DEN - super halt, bit tense diagonal, lovely carriage and balance for half passes, bit open halt for rein back, lack bit more push for extended trot, super into passage, super passage, super transitions, active piaffe at the spot, lack bit more let go for extended walk, good rhythm, nice collected walk, good transition into passage, super 2nd piaffe, very expressive quality passage, small error hind begin 2 times, bit conservative extended canter, becomes bit hind vertical zig-zag, small tensions for 1 times, super active pirouettes, 2nd bit more turned, wauw passage, piaffe at the spot, passage final with power. 74,674%.
Cathrine Dufour about her test today:
“Bo behaved super in the arena, of course I felt that he was a bit tense during the test, but at the same time he responded 100% to my aides, and felt amazing and really in the mood for the demanding passage, piaffe and pirouette exercises. We have not competed that many times at this level yet, but already I could benefit from our previous starts in Grand Prix. I love when I get the feeling that he just follow my advices in the arena, that makes really sense for our future development together,” Dufour stated.
Another World Cup debut
First to go today was Dutch Emmelie Scholtens with KWPN stallion Desperado. Unfortunately it became a difficult challange with the piaffe tours today, as he became very stallion like and decided not to do any proper piaffe tours today. Lots of nice qualities for the rest of the test, but for sure not the World Cup debut Emmelie had hoped for.
