Home soil in Herning

For both the Dufour with Cassidy and the audience the comeback on home soil in Herning at the CDI4 event during Danish Warmblood stallion show will be something very special.

The now 16 year old Atterupgaards Cassidy is ready for comeback at the big international scene in Herning in less than 2 weeks. Atterupsgaards Cassidy and Cathrine Dufour was unfortunately forced to withdraw a short time before leaving for last years WEG in Tryon due to a minor injury. Last time they showed was in Aachen back in July 2018.

Already in the autumn Cassidy was fit for fight again, but Cathrine felt that it was better to keep him home bringing him back to top form before entering the scene again. And with the opportunity to be able to show him again in front of all his Danish fans, the mark in the calendar was made.

Dufour and Cassidy is at the moment no 14 at the World Ranking, while the other Danish international top combination Daniel Bachmann Andersen with Blue Hors Zack is no 11 at the World Ranking.

“Cassidy is such a special boy for me and of course he will have everything special. Our training together with national coach Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein feels very good, and even though we know each other very well now, there are always details to work on - I love the eyes from Nathalie on the ground”, tells Cathrine.

“Herning is BIG, and for me this year will be extra exciting as I will do a clinic Thursday evening, and here I’ve already been asking my followers on Instagram for some topics they want me to explain, and of course I will try to catch some of them during the clinic. The first part will be with two students and second part I will bring Bohemian to show how I build up my training. I’m top excited for this evening,” says Cathrine.

Additionally Cathrine will bring her talented 5 year old gelding Sauterne by Sezuan for the Young Horse Championship.

CDI4 Grand Prix is scheduled to Friday (8/3) at 8.30, while the CDI4 Grand Prix freestyle is Sunday (10/3) at 14.45.

FOCUS HORSES - By Vincent Maranello - Danish Warmblood Spring Auction

Among the exclusive collection for the 2019 Danish Warmblood Spring Auction are more young stallions selected for the licensing.

For this collection the Blue Hors Zack son Vincent Maranello is represented with three offsprings. All three with correct confirmation, nice uphill frame and active movements with clear beat for all three gaits.

The stallion Maskedal kind of Magic already caught H2R from the pre-selection, showing a superb well balanced canter both by the presentation free and for the lunging.

A top charming and very appealing horse, with a fashionable look and an adorable face. Maskedal Kind of Magic works with a good technique and suppleness in the trot and a rythmic and ground covering walk. His canter is a class of its own and lives up to the name of "Kind of Magic". With its immense uphill tendency and a lot of air time, there are not many horses that can compeed with that. An exciting horse for the future.
Masksdals a kind of magic is selected for the 2019 Danish Warmblood licensing.

Se resultatet af klassen her.

Flyt timeline til 17:30 for at se Anne og Fürstenblick´s tur i dag.

VIDEO of the entire class - Danish Warmblood victory in CDI3 Prix Sct. Georg at Norwegian Horse Festival today

International debut victory

Norwegian Siril Helljesen and her 10 year old Danish Warmblood mare Zarina VG by Blue Hors Zack / Caletto III won the Prix Sct. Georg with 70,706%. Zarina is bred by Birgitte and Mogens Kløve-Mogensen, Stutteri Volstrupgaard.

Siril Helljesen actually sold Rosenstolz (today with Qabil Ambak) to Helgstrand Dressage. She was then searching for a new talented horse, and went back later and purchased Zarina at Helgstrand Dressage. Zarina was former educated and competed successfully under Danish Carina Cassøe Krüth.

Siril was of course very happy about the international debut together with Zarina, and she is quite familiar with Danish Warmblood horses as her first international Grand Prix horses Dorina by Blue Hors Don Schufro also was Danish Warmblood. Next step for Siril and Zarina is hopefullyGrand Prix debut later this year, tell Siril.

Placed 5th

Best Danish combination was Anne Troensegaard with the 9 year old Danish Warmblood gelding Fürstenblick by Fürstenball / Bernstein, bred by Hanne Nielsen. It was international debut for Fürstenblick. They showed a lot of nice qualities, but at the same time it became with some tensions during the test today with a bit big eyes in one corner, and the walk tour where Fürstenblick needed more let go and relaxation in the body. The canter tour with a small issue for the change after the half passes, but from there a clear canter tour.

It became an unfortunate international debut for Danish based Norwegian rider Selina Vittinghus with Atterupgaards Kawasaki, as he did not like the judging tables and was spinning before the start, and then actually did a very nice test until the first canter exercise towards the judging table where he was spinning again.

More Danish Warmblood

It was a field with more Danish Warmblood horses as 3rd placed Grevens Zorro by Blue Hors Zack / Blue Hors Hertug with Finnish rider Anna Tallberg, bred by Dorrit Greve og Svend Skov Poulsen, and also Felicia by Florencio / Zardin Firfod with Norwegian Grete Bergstrøm, bred by Vibeke Wethje.

4 year old

5 year old

2nd placed today was Danish bred Damon Gold by Damon Hill / Fürst Romancier / Blue Hors Don Schufro (Weihegold OLD), owned and bred by HP Horses and ridden by Maria Falkner Hansen.

Some of the judges comments:

“This Damon Gold did all the time leave a good impression from his basic gaits and his ride ability. He did always follow the riders aides. The test rider was very happy about Damon Gold, as he leaves a honest and relaxed impression. For the trot he is swinging through his body with push from hind, with nice beat and over the back swinging. For the canter the horse improved from yesterday to today with clear self carriage. The walk could be with a bit more volume and need a bit more freedom from shoulders.”

Fruerings Saigon

Sex: Stallion
Born: 2016

Height: 171 cm

"There is no such thing as a perfect dressage horse", a statement one sometimes hears in the “horse world”, since even the best horses often have a "but or if".

On some rare occasions a horse turns up, that i so convincingly strong in movement, ridability and looks, that you are just enthralled by the sight of the horse. Fruerings Saigon is such a horse!
Saigon only touches the ground out of sheer courtesy. In spite of his young age, he is already embracing excellent balance, suppleness and power in all three gaits, and he is a delight to the eye, as well as the rider being carried on his back. A youngster in class. Saigons dam line represent several elite and medal mares from the renowned stut Nexen, among others Polka Nexen - mother to the elite and gold medal mare Polka Hit Nexen - silver winner at the World Championship for 6 y.o. dressagehorses in Verden, now educated for Grand Prix.

Fruerings Saigon is selected for the 2019 Danish Warmblood licensing.

Ringsbos Fergalicious

- She will make them boys go loco!

Ringbo’s Fergalicious’ mother scored 848 points on her riding test, proving a horse with excellent rideability

Yesterday with stallion show in Vechta

A huge program with stallions from Hengsthaltung Martin Determann, Hengststation Ahlers, Hengsthaltung Ludwig Kathmann, Hengststation Pape, VDL Stud and Blue Hors.

Fantastic presentation of the new KWPN stallion Blue Hors Livius by Gotcha-Utopia / Jazz - really looks like a stallion with both type, interior and suppleness in the body. Gonna be very exciting to follow him in Herning for Danish Warmblood licensing next month.

It was the first stallion show abroad for Blue Hors rider Nanna Merrald and she showed both Blue Hors St. Schufro and Blue Hors Farrell.

FEI PRESS RELEASE - Werth wins, but Reynolds prevents German whitewash in Neumünster

Irish rider continues to sparkle with another national record-breaking score

The undeniable queen of Dressage, Isabell Werth (49), won today’s ninth and penultimate leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2018/2019 Western European League on home ground at Neumünster (GER) with her multi-medalled mare Weihegold. On a day when the German star and her accomplished compatriots claimed six of the top seven places in a super-hot competition however, Ireland’s Judy Reynolds (37) lifted the hopes and dreams of enthusiasts around the world when snatching third spot with her brilliant little gelding, Vancouver K.

Werth and her super-mare are defending FEI Dressage World Cup™ double-champions having stormed to victory in Omaha (USA) in 2017 and again in Paris (FRA) last season. They took the lead with a score of 86.810 when fourth-last to go this morning, and their closest challengers were the 2018 Neumünster winners Helen Langehanenberg (36) and Damsey FRH who were last into the arena, posting a mark of 83.825 for second place.

That pushed Reynolds and the little Dutch-bred gelding she calls JP down to third, but this was a sensational result for the pair who fly the flag of a horse-loving country that is really only waking up to the excitement of the sport of Dressage. Yesterday they became the first-ever Irish partnership to take a podium placing in a Western European League Grand Prix, and today they broke the Irish international Freestyle record score they set in Amsterdam (NED) last month when putting 82.750 on the board.

"I was in the arena training this morning at 6am, and Patrick (her husband) and I were chatting before we got down to work. We were wondering do people say “if she can get into the middle of the Germans, then maybe I can too!"

Judy Reynolds IRL (3rd)

"JP is a relatively normal pony but he’s getting in there and shaking them up a bit!” Reynolds added with a laugh today.

She temporarily slotted into runner-up position behind Werth whose performance was met with a roar of approval from the knowledgeable Neumünster crowd. You could hear a pin drop during every test in the compact Holstenhallen.

"It’s outstanding - it’s like riding in a hot-spot and there’s a special emotion here, special people, special spectators, supporting us all the time"

Isabell Werth GER (1st)

Werth said after posting her fourth winning score of the season and her fifth victory at this German venue.

The crowd clearly enjoyed every moment, and the lady who won the first of her four World Cup titles in Gothenburg (SWE) in 1992 with Fabienne, is now planning to give Weihegold a break but will bring her other top ride, Emilio to the last leg of the series at ’s-Hertogenbosch (NED) next month as a kind of insurance policy. “Just in case, it’s always good to have two horses qualified!” said the multiple champion who has a super-talented string to choose from and who will be returning to the Swedish city where she posted that first memorable win 27 years ago to defend her title in April.

Langehanenberg’s second-place finish leaves her lying second on the Western European League leaderboard, behind compatriot Dorothee Schneider who lined up fifth with Sammy Davis Jr this morning and who is celebrating her 50th birthday today. The biggest dilemma that German team manager Monica Theodorescu has now is to decide which two of the five German riders currently in the leading pack will join Werth at the Final, because each nation is only permitted to field three horse-and-rider combinations.

Today’s result leaves Reynolds on the edge of the qualification zone, with only the top nine from this league making the cut. One more good run at the last leg in ’s-Hertogenbosch should seal it for the Irishwoman whose new Freestyle music and floorplan are going down a storm with both judges and spectators alike. This was only the third time for them to perform to their “Lord of the Dance” soundtrack and, at 17 years of age, the sometimes quirky Vancouver K looks to be still growing in comfort and confidence in the ring.

“JP is in the best form he’s ever been in! It was never our plan to do so many shows so close together but it seems to suit us better and he’s loving it!” said the rider who, as Ireland’s sole representative at the very top end of the sport right now, is inspiring many others in both her own country and elsewhere to strive to also be the best they can be.

Result:

1. Weihegold OLD (Isabell Werth) GER 86.810

VIDEO OF THE ENTIRE GP - Weihe and Werth 6% ahead of Damsey and Langehanenberg in today's CDI-W Grand Prix

FEI dressage World Cup.jpg

Lot of very nice riding for today’s World Cup Grand Prix, unfortunately the field was reduced from 17 starters to 16, as Danish Daniel Bachmann Andersen with Blue Hors Zack had withdrawn due to an hoof abscess.

H2R comments - top 3

Weihegold OLD GER - bit unsteady halt, good balanced diagonal, good half passes, good halt lack more diagonal clear rhythm for rein back, super passage, good piaffe, good transition out, good walk tour, 2nd piaffe/passage good, piaffe on the spot, good 2 times, nice zig-zag, super 1 times, super well balanced pirouettes, nice transition at M, good diagonal, fire on the ground for the final centerline. 82,565%

Damsey FRH GER - nice halt, power diagonal, nice crossing/balance for half passes, lack bit carriage, good halt with rein back, nice diagonal, small tension hind for transition to passage, lack bit energy for 1st piaffe, fantastic extended walk, superb collected walk, nice transition to passage, lack bit go/energy for 2nd piaffe, good passage, nice 2 times, good extended canter, nice zig-zag, 3rd change parallel hind for 1 times, bit hurried into 1st pirouette but nice control in the pirouette, super extended trot, good final lacking the final meters with natural forward search. 76,413%

Swedish Rose Mathisen and Zuidenwind with a super nice test today

For quite a long period of time Rose has been struggling with Zuidenwind doing most of the tests with kind of open mouth. This fact has unfortunately been following them for a while, and also caused some problems on and off during their tests.

Today was a totally different picture when Zuidenwind did the entire test with closed mouth. Lots of very nice things and well balanced all the way except the two times with an error. They are for sure back on track. Today scoring 71,217%.

Danish Carina Cassøe Krüth and May-Day Graftebjerg building up a partnership

Last season as their common debut season at international Grand Prix level, and today with their 2nd World Cup Grand Prix they are gaining experience and building up at partnership in the big arenas. Today it was with an error for the one times and then just minor things that kept them away from the +70% level. Looks like a combination that could be at +72% level with a bit more experience.

Below you find the entire Grand Prix test, and just move the timeline to find your favorites.

At 43:30 - Danish Carina Cassøe Krüth with May-Day Graftebjerg

At 2:39:00 - Isabel Werth with Weihegold OLD
