Horses & Dreams meets Canada 20 - 24 April

PRESS RELEASE

Hagen a.T.W. visits the land of the maple leaf

Hagen a.T.W. — Canada is often called the country of superlatives and especially the great hospitality and friendliness of the people is often praised. Who has not heard of the "Mounties" or Royal Canadian Mounted Police? Experts say that Canada was built on the back of horses through the way ranchers lived on farms — many Canadians therefore also have a close relationship with horses. This and much more makes the North American State the perfect partner country for Horses & Dreams 2022.

"Canada has been on our wish list for a long time, equestrian sport is very important there and has a long tradition. Spruce Meadows is the largest equestrian facility in the world and hosts one of the world's most renowned horse shows every year. In addition, our long-time friend and ringmaster Pedro Cebulka lives there," organiser Francois Kasselmann explains how the new partner country was chosen.

From 20 to 24 April, Hof Kasselmann in Hagen a.T.W. will be themed around the maple leaf and will offer the opportunity to get to know Canadian art, culture and culinary highlights. Of course, the focus will also be on top-class dressage and jumping. Horses & Dreams is traditionally the first show of the German outdoor season and therefore always a 'must' in the calendar of Europe's best riders. 2022 is also the year of the World Championships, many combinations will probably want to stake their claim for a place in the team of their respective nation with a good result in Hagen a.T.W.. Horses & Dreams is also the first stop for well-known equestrian series such as the BEMER Riders Tour for show jumpers as well as the Louisdor Prize and Nürnberger Burg Pokal for dressage riders. Top-class sport and exciting decisions are therefore guaranteed.

Optimistic event planning

Francois Kasselmann and his team remain full of confidence in their planning: "We are looking forward to and planning for a Horses & Dreams event in the usual way. If necessary, however, we will have to allow for changes to the left and to the right. A concrete number of spectators will be based on the current guidelines in force in April 2022. Horses & Dreams is an outdoor event and so we hope for the best possible attendance."

The spacious grounds at the Borgberg and the open grandstands, for example, allow for the best conditions to ensure compliance with spacing regulations and ventilation. The health and safety of visitors and participants are paramount. A corresponding hygiene concept will be drawn up in consultation with the municipality and the district in due course.

Stallion show at Klosterhof Medingen

This afternoon with stallion show live from Klosterhof Medingen

As always well organised presentation of the stallions and also with presentation of a few offsprings.

Today’s absolute highlight was the young OLD Premium stallion St. Emilion by Suarez / Dante Weltino.

From following the stallion at the OLD licensing in December it is of course always interesting how he develops under saddle, and he did definitely not disappoint. Lovely self carriage, uphill natural frame and well balanced and supple in all three paces with good activity from behind. He is measured at 170 cm. For sure a young stallion to keep an eye on.

Va´Pensiero by Vitalis / Fürstenball look like a real handsome willing young stallion also showing three good paces and moves natural and supple.

You have the possibility to watch the entire stallion show at the archive at Clipmyhorse.

KWPN Stallion Show with live commentary in English, German and Danish

Getting ready for KWPN Stallion Show

When the KWPN stallion show comes up Friday 4th and Saturday 5th February with licensing of the dressage stallions it will be possible to follow via live stream at Clipmyhorse or KWPN.tv with live commentary in English, German and Danish.

For the KWPN stallion licensing the dam line plays a very important role as the grading and sport is of highest priority when selecting the best stallions for the future breeding.

If your not familiar with the KWPN mare approval system you can with advantage get more informations at the KWPN website.

What is Ster, Keur, PROK, EPTM, IBOP, Elite, Sport, Preferent, Prestatie?

Have you heard all the different predicates for mares but not really knows what it takes to have a ex Preferent mare.

You can find all informations about the predicates for KWPN mares here.

IBOP for Dressage Horses
Dressage horses participating in the IBOP are required to perform an individual dressage test, followed by an under-saddle performance in a group of two to four combinations. In the group test, horses must demonstrate their basic gaits and several tempo changes, upon request of the jury. Four-year-old horses are also required to show a leg-yield, and horses five years old and up must perform a shoulder-in.

The predicate system of the KWPN is unique in the world: there is no studbook that distinguishes between the qualities of her mares in this way. Each predicate has a different meaning and has different requirements to actually get the predicate. This gives a lot of information to breeders and owners.

9 young stallions approved for KWPN after finishing their stallion performance test

Nalegro presented by Van Olst Horses was placed 2nd for the stallion performance test

Final stallion performance test day

Originally 14 stallions were listed for the performance test but only 9 stallions finished the testing, and one stallion (Network by Just Wimphof-Negro) did not show at the final day due to fever, but still approved as the judges of course had seen the stallion during the entire testing period.

Out of the 9 new approved stallions one of the stallions were particularly interestering Nalegro the Valegro nephew by Painted Black out of a full sister of Valegro. The total score for Nalegro was 85 points - walk 8,5 - trot 8,5 - canter 9 - suppleness 8 - self carriage and balance 8 - ride ability and attitude 8,5 - potential as dressage horse 8,5. Some of the comments from Bert Rutten about Nalegro: “A strong stallion, strongly build, lots of eager to work with a lot of go and with very strong hind legs.”

From H2R point of view walk, canter and potential as dressage were more like a clear 9,5 for Nalegro. The walk is big, well balanced, supple and with huge over track. The canter is super balanced, lots of jump of the ground with push from behind and not least the overall power makes the perfect picture as a potential future dressage horse.

Winner with 87,5 points Nashville Star by Desperados / Westpoint. A modern well moving stallion with a superb walk.

Danish stud Blue Hors & Van Uytert stallion Nordic Blue Hors by Totilas / Jazz finished the testing with a total score of 82 points.

Here you find the entire scoring from the performance test.

Feinrich, Sir Heinrich and Vitalis shows promising young riding horses for the upcoming NRW auction

The best three youngsters for the upcoming auction

When following the LIVE presentation Friday afternoon of the upcoming NRW riding horses three young horses stood out.

No 2 by Feinrich is modern with medium size. Easy light of the ground trot, good canter still lack bit more balance and clear walk where you still miss the clear forward search.

No 7 by Sir Heinrich is a big framed modern young horse. For the trot you still miss the fully balanced picture but still showing some very interesting moments, very nice balance for the canter and superb through the body and over the back walk.

No 17 by Vitalis is an elegant light footed mare with 3 good gaits.

The auction starts 20 Januar.

Here you find the entire collection.
