The 'FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses' will be held in Ermelo from September 8th trough September 11th 2022. The best five-, six- and seven-year-old dressage horses compete here for the world titles.

The FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses is a sporty battle between the studbooks and therefore an outstanding event where sport and breeding come together. An important starting point here is that horses in their age class can participate in the selection process from all recognized studbooks The Netherlands that are also affiliated with the WBFSH.

The best 15 horses per year of the Pavo Cup and the best 6 horses per year of the Pavo Fryso Bokaal are invited for the first observation training. The horses that were selected for the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses 2021 are also invited to enter directly during the first observation training.

Intake moment for young dressage horses
In addition, horses can select themselves for the World Championship selection via an intake moment on March 10th and March 11th. Participating horses must be registered as foals with a recognized studbook in The Netherlands (KWPN, KFPS & NRPS) that is also affiliated with the WBFSH. During this intake moment, the Preliminary Dressage Test of the FEI per year is ridden and assessed by the selection committee World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. To participate in the selection moment, the horses must have achieved the following minimum position by April 1st, 2022:

5-year-olds: L2 + 10 / M eligible to start
6-year-olds : M2 + 10 / Z eligible to start
